Yeah my very conservative uncle was all proud early on of his respirator and it's features and then got nagged into not wearing it. So now he doesn't wear a mask at all and said if it's not dangerous enough for real protection why take half measures that don't work

I don't really argue with my anti vaccination friend anymore. Whenever he tries to bait me into some dumb culture war argument I've switched to just feigning ignorance and vaguely agreeing until he talks about baseball or something again.

Even more of a shame that the completely unhinged GOP has somehow convinced their most broke brained base that asking people to wear masks in a respiratory viral pandemic is somehow exactly the same as Nazi fascism.

if you have a lot of reasonable people in your life I'm sure they would understand, I had some relatives do a "renewal of vows" many years after their wedding because they never had one and it was pretty much just as well attended as their wedding would have been.

I've lost almost exactly the same amount of weight and I can directly relate it to working from home and getting a job that didn't have such a heavy drinking culture. I went from beer at lunch and after work to maybe 2 beers a week and I feel so much better for it

I love bars and drinking but my life is definitely a lot healthier without it

I’ve been trying to see what I could eat that may be somewhat pleasurable to eat and honestly there’s nothing. it makes me not want to eat. maybe I’ll finally lose some weight.

I got rehooked on cigarettes from being home with my kids from March to November 2020. It was hella stressful trying to work while dealing with two feisty kids, so I took up smoking as a little break.

So I dropped like 15 pounds because I also stopped drinking for six months. I quit smoking two months ago and now I've gained that back plus another 15 or 20 on that. I'm committed to being a bloated chubster for another month or two until my metabolism readjusts from being poisoned multiple times a day.

I'm glad that the Aztec religion was right in its worship of death to make the sun raise every day.

Americans need to worship the religion that encourages regular military invasions of other countries, AND it sacrifices peoples lives for the ruling class in a performative ceremony.

So, My company is taking this whole "New work of work" approach very seriously.

Of the 113 hires we have in August and September (seriously)
65 are Remote
9 are Hybrid Remote
13 are Remote now - but not sure in future
15 are at one of our construction or operations sites
11 are Fully Office based

And we just pushed off our September 15th office reopening a month*but probably April

I legit don't think the football crowds are that big a deal. Same with concerts. Just being outside and a crowd that trends young means concentrated viral load from uncirculating air isn't as big a deal, infections they get won't be as severe, etc. I'm sure spread will happen there but infections that send 30 year olds to the ICU? Probably not

It's still the bars that are the problem as well as open floor plan offices. I'll believe this til I die.

These big outdoor gatherings are just gonna spread it around but the real spread will be in dorm bathrooms and classrooms and basketball and hockey stadiums in the winter
