What a weird translation, the phrasing was all over the place like they were trying to avoid what Yujiro seemed to be clearly saying. I'm sticking with my assessment that this is just a really awkward attempt to further villainize Yujiro so that at the end of this he can finally taste defeat.

So, where in Baki continuity does this new Netflix run take place? Does it follow the Death Row Inmates/China tournament thing? They really ought to go back and remake the older stuff. I'm sure the old TV anime has it's fans, but so did old Hunter x Hunter, and it was still a good thing they remade that.

Yeah it's in continuity. After the chinese tournament and Bakis destruction of Ali Jr what happens next is basically Baki going "i need a challenge" and so he aims to fight Biscuit Oliva. The arc after that is the revival of the prehistoric human Pickle and the arc after that leads up to the big fight between Baki and Yujiro
