I volunteers at a rabbit shelter last year, kinda gave that book the side eye when I saw in our library. What blew my mind was that the lady i worked with there had never read.

Meet Cookie! I've had him for a month and a half now and he is such a little gentleman. No chewing issues, recognized his potty right away. He has a private pen but roams around the place. Vet says he is a bit overweight and that makes sense considering his last home he was caged and pellets only so he has been on a little diet but he is still happy as can be!

Free roam bunnies are the best (having a private space they get put in like at night doesn't change free roam status imo)

Lillian is in a huge ex-pen when we aren't home, but we freeroam her when we're there. One thing I might warn about is if you have a small rabbit, the speed with which they can get riiiiight under your foot midstep is alarming. I've almost died several times trying to course-correct when I suddenly felt soft rabbit fur under my foot.

I once crushed a little wicker toy underfoot and for a moment, thought it was a bird. For a long time I involuntarily shuddered just recalling the sensation.

grack posted:Your rabbit either loves you deeply or is trying to kill you. with 10+lbs of bunny I am gonna say delilah is trying to kill me evidence suggests its because she goes into a grape rage seriously, last night she was snorfling and grunting trying to get to me on the couch because I had some, and the cat was hiding on the back of the couch. she has also drawn blood by confusing my finger tip for the sweet sweet grape flesh

Sorry, bunns! I know its not snuggle time but we track your weight! Made the switch from pine (money reasons, metric assload of rabbits) to pelletized bedding. Never going back. In all seriousness, being down to 5 from 31 is a huge change and makes things much easier. Especially considering the shop vac and pump sprayer filled with quat sanitizer (since its effective against E. cuniculi and we suspect we've lost more than one of the rescues to that insidious little bastard), primed to spray out any sawdust that stays behind.

Yeah, I just use the bulk stuff from Tractor Supply. It's cheap and it works. A lot of people recommend wood fuel pellets, which I suspect is made of almost exactly the same stuff.

You can tell a good bunny owner by the presence of really out of place and ugly runner carpets over all the slippery floor surfaces.

Their dislike of hardwood floor is great for keeping them out of the kitchen. Its bad enough with just the cat mobbing me when i make dinner

grack posted:Your rabbit either loves you deeply or is trying to kill you. I suspect that it's both and that tension is what brings meaning to her tiny life. All joking aside, I often wonder how much she understands us as physical beings. She seems to recognize hands specifically as "headscratch machines" and is constantly fighting to place herself right under them, but she also sometimes seems to do the same with our feet while we are trying to walk. She also seems to have figured out that if we have gotten bored and stopped petting her, an overdramatic flop against us will buy her at least a few more minutes.

i also think they're fake because you have no empty spots where they yanked up the carpet

Shelter bunnies are well behaved Dajour digs at the carpet sometimes, but its rarely difficult to get him to stop, and he seems to do it to piss me off because I have seen nothing torn up when I am not around

Oreo likes to piss her nasty girlbun pheromone-piss on the couch and dig every last bit of pellets out of her litterbox so she can shiss on the plastic, but other than that, all 5 are well-behaved. Especially Deets, in her favorite position in her bed.

Its actually the only oxbow at my local petco, and close enough to what we used at the rescue that I feel comfortable with it. They love pellets so much tho lol. Having a 10+lbs bunny dancing on your feet is an experience And i do a timothy/orchard grass blend that I started for similar reasons, but it makes their poop so much better than pure timothy that I stayed with it. I get bales at a local feed supply, and Colorado is apparently amazing for local grown hay RFC2324 fucked around with this message at 16:29 on Sep 27, 2021 |
