Of all the terrible houses I've visited with a realtor this autumn, the ones I've liked best have been the ones with 70s wood paneling. Much better than gray, beige, or Star Destroyer White, which is the interior color of the house I will be living in.

loving farmhouse https://www.bustle.com/life/farmhouse-aesthetic-suburbs quote:But why the farmhouse? The United States, a former agricultural colony, has always had a nostalgia for rural life that makes its way into broader culture in a variety of forms, and the idea that rural life is somehow more honest and inherently American than urban life is a powerful trope that has become only more politicized since the Reagan administration. But the original farmhouses, the nameless, vernacular wood-framed buildings that can still be seen dotting the landscapes of the South and Midwest, were humble, meant to shelter from the elements and nurture the life within and nothing more. The modern farmhouse is a status symbol with a facade of humble, plucky folksiness. It is the Yeti cooler of houses.

I was about to bitch about cleaning all the tile in the Redonda Drive bathroom, but holy moly would it be worth it for the Los Feliz bathroom. Spanish revival makes my heart go pitty-pat, and that's absolutely top-of-the-line 1920s bathroom decoration (minus the weird white sink). I've seen ads for those bathrooms, but never the real thing. e: My first thought about the hanging box was subwoofer.

chill out with the wood jfc, even the "sofa" in the first pic has a wood frame which looks weird. also why is it like two inches from the coffee table https://www.startribune.com/simple-yet-splendid-mission-style-kenwood-home-hits-market-for-1-25-million/600115949/#grid edit: In regards to that AZ home above, I am so tired of the relentless commodification of everything, including of course eastern religions, with things like this from the description "This is the ZEN ambiance that you have been waiting for! " My neighbor is a Soto Zen Buddhist. She has been to rural Japan many times to spend several months in a monastery. The extravagance of that home is the complete opposite of what Buddhism stands for. actionjackson fucked around with this message at 15:15 on Nov 15, 2021 |
