The LA house has some areas that look a little...Prothean, but I really, really like this: I don't think I can firmly articulate why, but I think it has to do with the room not trying to impose a mood on me (I don't like "cheerful," for example) but having enough stuff for the space that it doesn't feel like floating in the astral plane. Maybe I'm just a sucker for stools with poop holes. Though it needs a big eye above the pyramid.  Anyone know what the Chinese (?) characters say? Is it just "live laugh love" in Chinese, some sort of cultural equivalent, random unintelligible bullshit, or--and this is the ideal--"stupid tourist"?

I can't figure out where the light is supposed to shine on that dining room fixture. Straight out horizontally? So your dinner is shrouded in darkness but anyone approaching is blinded?

RIP to the Hapke-Geiger House, the only Stickley Craftsman in Richmond soon to be demolished for a commercial building. There are only a couple hundred Stickley-designed houses left in the US and even fewer that haven't had their exterior desecrated.  article on the house from 2016 https://richmondmagazine.com/home/special-addresses/strictly-stickley/ It was supposedly given a new roof and systems around that time so it's not like it was on the verge of crumbling down or something. The plan   wanna go out there and chain myself to the house so they can't bulldoze it

My father's an architect and I had never really heard of Stickley or Craftsman style until I went with him to the Stickley Museum a few years ago. My suggestion wouldn't have changed the function, just the appearance. I've never seen a linen closet that's divided into an upper 1/3 and bottom 2/3. I mean you can do it however you want, it just looks like a fridge.
