Are kitchens without a splashback/backsplash just a dumb interior design thing with no practical value beyond taking pictures of? If no, do you have to use a sealer over your chalk paint for it to be viable? I bought a new apartment and there's no protection behind sinks or cooking tops, and I very much doubt they used a sealer. It's what they advertised in the brochure I guess, but it seems very optimistic when I consider what a mess I usually made cooking in the old place.

Well, as someone who just redid an apartment I could afford a peel and stick backsplash or a high gloss paint. I figure I'll just save for a proper backsplash to install between tenants next time. Paint is easy to maintain and fix.

New builds here usually have a "kitchen panel," a glossy fireproof wall material. Some homeowners choose tile for the look, but it's more expensive to install and harder to clean. I'll do stainless steel next time and use all the magnets. https://www.renoveru.jp/journal/13140

I met what might be my new interior designers, the last place tried to jack up the rates without telling me so I got into an argument with their ceo lol totally blew my mind mentioning the effect of the trees and the brick just outside my window on the interior paint color there's even a seasonal effect, where you'll get a bit more of a cool green tone in the spring and summer due to the leaves
