LIVARPOOL!

Klopp's 13pts clear thanks to video ref

I had to jump into a work call to figure out what the hell we do with a dev team that's stuck in a country being actively invaded, so I just switched back to my Kyiv camera feed. It's really quite disconcerting when I can hear gunfire and what sounds like armoured vehicles moving, and all I can see on each of the 4 cameras is people driving around like it's a casual Sunday.

I presume the checks for the bribe's already cleared. Any football club owners on the sanctions list?

Chelsea's owner is a Russian oligarch, could end up sanctioned.

A dogfight by definition is within visual range. Modern jet fighters do indeed have the capability to shoot each other down beyond visual range (and have had for many decades), but in messy real life it takes very little time for them to get very close. Even during the first Gulf war, with superior American jets and AWACS radar coverage, many of the air to air kills were with close range heatseeking missiles.

A "dogfight" is a close range air battle between 2 fighter jets. Generally speaking they would have see their opponent or have acute awareness of their position. However long range missiles like the AIM-120, AA-12s, etc have made close range engagements a low possibility.

They probably won't be able to complete general mobilization fast enough, so that might happen anyway. It's a new level of grimness to think about insurgent warfare happening between people that could be relatives.

If they're calling for civilians to prepare Molotov cocktails and recruiting child soldiers, they're already well on their way to preparing for insurgency.

These things will not stop the Russian army, but they will provide lots of martyr's for the cause that will harden the feelings of the people to resist occupation.

That is perfectly okay, and likewise it is okay for you to keep sharing your opinion - my view is just that it’s not constructive to call far reaching conclusions from our vantage point, in many situations. Some things are evident, like fighting happening somewhere, but predictions 24 hours out should normally require more than footage selectively presented on social media.

Nobody has whiffed on sanctions yet. The US and EU could have jointly announced they're cutting Russia off from SWIFT and going with a full on, Cuba/North Korea style trade embargo with Russia and the market would have bounced back today. We're 24 hours into this, sanctions don't take effect immediately no matter how much you want them. Hell, the US is currently moving additional military assets into other neighboring NATO countries - even that probably isn't done, and that can be done relatively rapidly once the order is given.

This poo poo takes time, and everyone here (including myself) has been poisoned by the 24 hour news cycle and instant access to livestreams.
