It looks like the faucet was installed in the overflow hole so it's weirdly low and impractical for filling the tub. And there's no shower curtain to allow for an actual shower, so how do you use it?

I assume you sit in the tub and hold the shower head in your hand when using it.

Also - does installing the faucet in the overflow hole mean that the tub doesn't have any overflow protection now? I've never seen a tub like that.

Just because there isn't an overflow hole doesn't mean the faucet was installed in one. They just didn't necessarily have them in that time period. I'm in a big apartment building from the 1930s, and none of the tubs have overflow holes. My parents' house is late '20s, and they don't have them either.

Sometimes they’re on the long side of the tub, too. And yeah, handheld shower heads are nice for washing hair in the bath, for example.

My grandma's house was like that. The first house I bought from the 40s was like that. Everyone just used to take baths and someone did a quick addon to give a useful sprayer.

I'd imagine if you ask 80yo folks now they still maybe choose baths over showers?

Real stairs, the door beside it is for the stairs coming from the lower level. Typical old Philly rowhouse pie stair setup, but it beats the alternatives of narrow spiral staircase into a box or terrifying steep ladder-stairs.

https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/11-Salem-Dr-Scarsdale-NY-10583/2141787532_zpid/ I cannot for the life of me find the architect for this 1966 MCM arrrgh

https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/6011-Eagleridge-Dr-West-Vancouver-BC-V7W-1W7/314282703_zpid/ by Ron Thom (1964) whoever made the artistic decision to only include poorly lit photos and vignettes in the listing I hope you step on a lego

got those happy feet

Maybe the lighting was just that lovely, and the photographer couldn't figure out a way to fix things that didn't involve lamps in places that screw up the staging. Would that be better or worse?

ha ha ha!
you've already paid for this
I mostly don't mind the lighting (it feels naturalistic) as much as the fact that most of the photos are disconnected detail shots of the furniture.

https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/112-Prince-St-FLOOR-2-New-York-NY-10012/244780212_zpid/ by Michael Somoroff and Stephen Wanta, for some reason the listing also includes concept images of the place remodeled as a generic monochromatic loft because there aren't enough of those in NYC
