It would be stupid for them to refuse, but that doesn't make it less likely that they will, you're right.

It’s far from ‘clear’ that this interview constitutes a violation of the rights afforded to POWs under the Geneva Accords; and one of your claims that they somehow “doxed” this POW by asking him to identify himself is prima facie ridiculous. That’s the one bit of information the capturing party is entitled to under the Geneva Accords.

What is this we already had this conversation, exposing POWs to public spectacle is no bueno and while it's one thing to share evidence of war crimes because it is useful information to disseminate (with a tag), sharing these POW videos is participating in the war crime.

I did not realize posting up the videos of the victim and perpetrator in action on video was good to go in this thread. Have you considered spending that sassing/concern trolling energy on reading the actual thread rules? I may not be as diplomatic with your antics going forward. Tagging rules are there primarily for shock content, and in my view two seemingly healthy adults reading a script in a room does not qualify as such - same goes for having more specific disclaimers than what is stated in the OP, that this is a thread about war, and thus war footage shall follow. In general, war crimes may very well be of relevance to the thread topic, and it would be inadequate to prohibit people from posting media about them, when doing so would add to the discussion. The primary restriction there is that one must not glorify or encourage war crimes - that falls under the general SA rules against calls for violence.

Oh and Just FYI it's Article 13 of the Geneva Convention under “prisoners of war must at all times be protected, particularly against acts of violence or intimidation and against insults and public curiosity" So yeah that would be people posting their details in a public space like here. You may disagree or dislike it from that angle as well, in which case I don't have anything to offer you. In my opinion, the discussion on whether if rules around POW footage or similar should be expanded could be meriting. That said, the thread rules have been formed in pursuit of having a thread that is useful and enjoyable to read to learn about main events of war in Ukraine (not about LOAC), and on that account we're in a good spot already. Therefore, I'm not interested in spending my effort on this, especially when petitioned by a known shitposter. Somaen posted:Lmao at hand-wringing of "war crimes" of a POW video when during 2 months we've had to stop people posting the documented war crimes of executions, rape and people getting blown up Are you an expert in international law? The only questionable thing is the distribution of the video, which may run afoul of rules against turning POWs into a public spectacle; of course, the publishing of a recorded interview of a POW has never been found to be an actual violation of that clause by the International Criminal Court or any War Crimes Tribunal. And, as it turns out, there is zero reference in any of the Geneva Accords to the video taping and publishing of POW interviews. So your claim that people are “hand ringing war crimes” is based on your own personal interpretation of international law, rather than one actually grounded in reality. Furthermore, it’s odd that of all the actual documented crimes of war and against humanity in this war, you come in here white knighting about the terrible war crime of interviewing a POW on camera by Ukraine.
