i love atrocity guide a lot and recommend it big time. it handles its subject matter with clinical detachment but its not devoid of empathy. a similar channel is anomaly documentaries, but the subject matter is lighter and way weirder https://www.youtube.com/c/AnomalyDocumentaries

If you're looking for relaxing content, or poo poo you could have running in the background, you could do a lot worse than Walk NZ. It's a guy (who also runs a well-liked channel where he discusses rugby union) who walks (and once in a while drives) around places in Auckland. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WwJ0p-iHgA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGDmoW0eD94 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJw9nj9Mlm0

I enjoy a fair bit of walking content. Watched Walker does very similar things to Walk NZ, only it's mostly around London. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PapLS9iLNbA Walk With Me Tim does British coastal towns, as well as the occasional very bad old hotel or holiday park. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2ujBnwKRqg Nice and chiled stuff.

"not available in your country". Apparently we Germans already know everything there is about the Holocaust, no need for us to watch this, says this uploader. Edit: Reading a bit further in the thread, apparently multiple countries aren't allowed to watch this, huh.

I don't think the uploader gets a say in what countries a vid is restricted in

Usually when an uploader blocks entire countries it's to avoid copyright strikes. Anime reviewers often have to geoblock Japan to keep their videos up. Dunno if that's the case here. EDIT: Started watching the video and it's Lionsgate claiming the video, so yeah, copyright bullshit. They're an American company so I dunno why they're blocking it from being seen in OTHER countries though. Kaiser Mazoku fucked around with this message at 15:25 on Jun 18, 2022 |

https://twitter.com/BatyaLewbel/status/1538061477302525952 There you go. It's Lionsgate who are blocking it everywhere except the US. Don't know why you'd automatically go to "blame the uploader" after years of this sort of poo poo but hey ho

It really sucks LadyKnight is dealing with that. I remember in her earlier video with a scholar on the Holocaust they were discussing bad Holocaust movies and ended on some good ones, and he said The Grey Zone was in his opinion the "best" meditation and commentary on the Holocaust. I suppose that prompted her to do a whole video on it just to get more people to watch something besides Schindler's List and the loving film's distributor is actively inhibiting that. And unless there's been some shocking turn of events, the status quo on country blocking was that only people who are part of huge MCNs can control what countries can see their videos. The whole problem that came up before is that anime videos can't be geoblocked in Japan, where fair use is basically nonexistent and every clip or still image is seen as copyright infringement by some dumb companies. But some dumb copyright-issue being at heart is of course, entirely on brand for YouTube. Libluini fucked around with this message at 15:58 on Jun 18, 2022 |

Its not even Youtube really (Youtube could fight for its creators a bit more though if it actually gave a poo poo). Its just that international copyright is really broken. Japan doesn't even really have the concept of Fair Use. Copyright has drifted so far from its original purpose.

Sure, and cases like this don't even really make sense, why does a company care about the rest of the world instead of their own country? Do they think Americans don't care about the Holocaust, or don't know people outside the country they could mention this video to? From all perspectives, this decision doesn't make any sense and shouldn't be possible for a company to demand. It's like the company in question is pranking the YouTuber
