I've never cooked in a kitchen where the stovetop was on the island. What does the logistics of that look like? Like there's no backsplash on an island so are you just wiping down the entire thing every time you cook? Is that easier to clean than a blacksplash? I read, maybe it was here, that cooking on an island sort of centralizes cook and prep area, making it difficult to also serve at eat at said island.

Iunno, I just take a sponge and some degreaser to mine and its good as new. Not particularly difficult. I can't imagine keeping any decor on an island for this reason, but people do it.

It's insane how expensive this stuff is.   The designer is Lulu Lytle. My cats would love more floor space. They'd just run around in it. Kids and dogs probably appreciate it for the same reason. If you have no cats, kids, or dogs, then you can use the space for hosting an orgy with your swinger friends or displaying your Gundam models, depending on how much of a social butterfly you are.
