1. Its Hells Angels not Hell's Angels, which is very shoddy work there fells (don't kill me for posting that on this high profile forum).
2. Do biker gangs have letterhead?
3. Do biker gangs send signed correspondence about their planned activities?

Yeah, that's an interesting point. They quite recently tried to arrest the 'illegitimate' Peterborough police where I may remind you that the explicitly stated plan was to try them as war criminals and then execute them.
She also supposedly has full command of numerous space ships and global militaries so I'm not sure why she would need a biker gang for protection.

There’s only been the one municipal poll so far but McKenney was far in the lead.

I’m really curious to start seeing signs go up for municipal candidates to gauge where people are at. It does feel like there is a real opportunity for change this year.

The first place I moved into at 18 had a deadbeat living next door (in Moose Jaw, every neighbour is a deadbeat) that was breaking into our place and stealing random poo poo. One day I found him in our place and called the cops, who then served him a search warrant, they'd been trying to get into his place for months but had no cause, he was charged with dozens of things for possessing stolen property.

Anyway, one day he told me if I didn't drop the charges the Hells Angels were gonna gently caress me up cause he was protected by them. A friend of a friend ran a tattoo parlor next to their clubhouse and he asked them about it for me cause I was a scared 18 year old and didn't wanna get beat up by bikers. One day a week or two later I noticed he had a sling and a bunch of bruises and I got a call from the cops asking if I had sent bikers after the neighbour, which I laughed about cause I had not and didn't know what had happened.

The Hells Angels had found him working on his car and slammed the hood on him and kicked the poo poo out of him for claiming he was affiliated, so maybe the Queen of Canada is gonna get beat up now.

Kyaieee!

I want to believe McKenney has a strong chance at winning given all the positive momentum they have from the convoy onwards. Plus, the centre/right was definitely counting on Watson running again and were caught flat footed by the inquiry and sudden resignation. Sutcliffe was all they could scrounge up on short notice and he’s not a compelling candidate. That said, McKenney might scare enough lovely suburban voters to motivate them to go to the polls for Sutcliffe.

I'm kind of surprised Fleury didn't get the push that ended up with Sutcliffe. Francophone, young but with meaningful experience, straddles that socially progressive / developer-friendly line. I assume he's going to come back and run for the Liberals at some point.

I guess the convoy really burned him out.

Fleury, if I understand correctly, has been getting a lot of abuse thrown his way ever since the convoy. Some death threats too, towards both him and his family. Anti vaxxers attacking him for his part in supporting COVID measures. It's one of the reasons Deans backed out of the mayoral race as well.

I'm certain other councillors have received much the same, McKenney especially given the recent anti LGBTQ backlash. I can't really blame any of them for tiring of the minefield Ottawa municipal politics has become

That really could have been the end of the inquiry right there. An RCMP officer shot up a firehall in the middle of a crisis. And the brass were okay with that. They thought that officer's line of reasoning was sensible and that he should be kept on the job.

NDP sources say Libs are going to propose useful benefits:

TorStar posted:

HALIFAX—The Liberals are expected to move on doubling the GST tax credit, launching a temporary dental care program for kids and topping up housing benefits to ease the pressures of skyrocketing inflation, NDP sources have told the Star.

The New Democrats say they have inked an agreement with the Liberals — which Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is poised to announce Thursday — that would double the GST tax credit for a period of six months. About 12 million Canadians could be eligible, the party says.

“That’s something we’ve been calling for since earlier in the summer, since June,” NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh told reporters as he entered day two of his party’s caucus meetings in Halifax.

Doubling the credit is absent from the governing agreement the NDP and Liberals struck back in March, which included several priorities both parties sought to achieve by the end of 2022. Under the agreement, the Liberals pledged to commit to key NDP policies in exchange for the New Democrats supporting Trudeau’s minority government until 2025.

Both parties also reached consensus on a plan that could see low-income youth under 12 receive a cheque for dental services by the end of the year. The plan is intended to be a temporary solution until a permanent dental care plan can be implemented by the end of 2023 and extended to those under 18, seniors and people living with a disability.

Those eligible will have to attest that they have a child under the age of 12, that they earn less than $90,000 a year, and that they don’t receive any dental benefits through their work. Families would be able to receive the cheques in 2022 and 2023, at which point they would be issued a dental card that could be presented at a dentist’s office with services directly billed to the federal government.

The third pillar of the plan is a payment of $500 for people who currently receive the Canada Housing Benefit and spend at least 30 per cent of their monthly income on rent. About two million people stand to benefit from the top-up, the source said.

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has previously said a failure by the Liberals to uphold both the dental care and housing promises by year’s end would lead to the deal’s collapse, potentially triggering an election call.

But having all three measures up and running by the end of 2022 is not assured. The Liberals plan to introduce the measures in a new bill when the House of Commons resumes Sept. 19. It will be up to parliamentarians, the NDP said, to pass the bill either by year’s end or early 2023.

It's not a guaranteed livable income, social housing or universal dental/pharma care, but it is incremental progress, I suppose.
