i'm basically i'll done with my home which is cool because it was expensive but also kind of sad because it was really fun but i'm super proud of how it turned out! my parents have a "quality" leather sofa from scandinavian designs, they spend so much time in on that apparently over the years, the oil from my dad's hair caused damage to the leather. so much so that now there is a hole in it.

The Zillow search term of the day is "belvedere" specifically in reference to "an architectural structure sited to take advantage of a fine or scenic view" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belvedere_(structure). Most often found in Second Empire houses. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/5-Main-St-1F-Rosemary-Beach-FL-32461/80793401_zpid/ https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/2842-Moelter-Dr-Lake-Geneva-WI-53147/40752859_zpid/ https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/43-Cedar-St-Clinton-MA-01510/57576496_zpid/ https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1144-Main-St-Darlington-WI-53530/145426264_zpid/ https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/4300-Temora-Manor-Ln-Ellicott-City-MD-21042/37031261_zpid/ every bedroom has these huuuge windows and it is awesome https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/2279-Shastan-Way-Arnold-CA-95223/52441543_zpid/ this house is so awkward looking on the outside but inside makes up for it like there's one bit that has horizontal siding and shingles and looks decent but then the rest of the siding is tragic the clean wood finish used throughout is really nice imo this is the "belvedere feature" they are referring to, I feel like that swing should be larger and more of a bench or chair type thing

thank you, this whole redesign/remodel has been a labor of love (and my highly focused autism). my favorite palette is blue/brown/gray, but I also threw some green in. wider shot. this blu dot rug originally had some tassels, but I just went to a rug place to have it cleaned, and they also replaced those with a nice matching serged edge.

youth decay if you don't mind i'm going to throw in some of my own pics, but believe it or not, it's not modernism! it's eclecticism, which is basically multiple design styles, palettes, etc. put together. it's pretty interesting. not my thing of course but i respect the effort. not to be confused with maximalism, which is basically having a LOT of stuff, but well organized, i.e. controlled chaos. eclectic interiors could be minimalist, maximalist, or somewhere in between.

Looking for someone to give me free interior design advice by recommending some art thing to put on a wall behind this newly installed Besta sideboard. The table itsself is at its smallest size, but has two leaves, it will generally be left small like this though. Yes the wall is beige and i have no interest in painting any time soon. Also I'm going to replace the green couch with something more boring in colour soon too probably.

What are you into? There’s all kinds of things to choose from - paintings, photographic prints, maps, old posters, etc - but it should come back and say something about you. I would put up either one really big gently caress-all piece over the sideboard or a diptych/triptych of things that complement each other. Also - budget?

i like the color of those (real?) eames chairs my preference for sideboards, not related to what you put above them, but to placement, is setting something on the sideboard itself so it leans against the wall. that's what I did with my treku (it's also nice because if I decided to move the credenza at all, you don't have to put new holes in the wall). you could also have one sitting on the sideboard on the left, and another one on the wall (if you don't plan on ever moving the sideboard) above it. whatever you put up there, I wouldn't put anything with bright colors. either b/w, or something with colors that match the other neutral tones you have present. here's something from the treku site where they overlap two pieces, both on the sideboard. the plant obfuscates the need for something above the right side (which is also what I did).

I'm similarly inclined to abstract stuff but I think you can do better than a bunch of mass-market drop-ship stuff. I've had good luck finding local or regional artists I like at annual art walks, monthly arts district events and even in cool restaurants or shops that I like. Another good alternative is a college with an arts program - we've had good luck finding interesting, inexpensive ceramics at things like that. You've got a midcentury thing going on, what about a really good vintage furniture boutique? If you're somewhere that doesn't have a vintage scene you can still use Etsy or eBay to find vintage pieces. Tons of boutiques have moved online as well. I've never used it but Saatchi has some original pieces that catch my eye every now and again: https://www.saatchiart.com/ We've moved across the country a few times travel frequently and have been accumulating art from the places that we've lived or visited over the years - a charcoal sketch from Mexico City, a street art piece from San Diego, a photograph from Portland, prints that we saw on a trip to Hawaii and bought several years later, USGS maps of some of our favorite places and ceramics from Louisiana, North Carolina and Utah.
