...where exactly was it stated she's a sex worker? More importantly, why?

Unless youre referring to association with the Mox, which isn't necessarily all sex workers (see Judy) and more of a safe haven for women in that line of work and other vulnerable street professions.

it's not really a detail that matters much in the story but she's a mox who are essentially body guards of sex workers and for the most part consist mostly of fellow sex workers

Good, I'm not alone here. The ending didn't hit me quite as hard either and I think this is it. The tension in the low point of their relationship and the quasi breakup tugged at my heartstrings more.

The Mox is an XBD bar- you don't actually lay a hand on the workers. Basically the workers there scroll porn BDs and The Mox is the exclusive place to view them.

One of the best characters in the game is the person who edits the BDs for them.

I didn't think about it but if Rebecca is a Mox she does kinda fit with the look of her appearance mods.

The Mox is also more than just sex workers.

From the game blurb:

"Lizzie's was no more, but the riots and protests that followed the club's demise gave birth to The Mox, a gang of sex workers, sexual minorities, punks and anarchists who found the "moxie" to fight back."

Basically anyone willing to stand up for their fellow marginalized individuals who get preyed upon in Night City. Certainly feels like Rebecca's style but she's definitely more on the anarchist side of things.

The Mox are functionally a sex worker trade union, but as with most real-world trade unions, they hire more people than just the folks getting damp and sticky. Back-office admin, armed guards, netrunners (both combat-oriented and otherwise), the whole biz.

i conflated a lot more about it from her being from the mox which i concede but i do still like that the tattoo is pulling double duty both as a philip k dick ref but also still meant to be a tongue in cheek ref to her work environment

this anime is loving awesome, just finished it, amazing series, super loving dark though, very bittersweet. not much in the way of smiles and hope to be had in this world lol.

Rebecca is awesome, style is awesome, character design is awesome. a real milestone for Trigger.

god the whole thing is brutal as gently caress, life even the important ones in the story is super cheap, even the ending was a huge gut punch despite the simple hope at the end.

Flesnolk posted:

Not really. The foundation of cyberpunk is the idea that corporations will eventually end up using their ever-increasing access to resources to subvert governmental systems and seize total control. Many of the popular cyberpunk settings that shaped the genre, like Blade Runner, Cyberpunk 2077, and Shadowrun were first conceived during the 80s, which was a period where the Japanese economy was explosively strong and there was a common belief that Japanese companies would come to dominate the global economy and bring about a Japanese-flavored corporate hegemony. The Japanese economic boom collapsed incredibly hard in the 90s, but by that point the details of these settings were already established.

If these stories were being written for the first time now, you'd probably have corporate villains modeled after modern economic superpowers like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Disney instead.

Housemates finished the show. Immediately wanted to know when a second season would be made and how Lucy would now be the main character making her own crew.

I always try to hold my tongue when listening to other people's takes on TV shows because i cant be a dick about it like I am online. I'd love to see another season as well but doing something like that would kind of undermine the entire premise.

I feel like anyone who watches the show and sees the climax and ending and thinks "Wow, I'd love for Lucy to come back and form her own crew" missed the entire point of the show. Like not on a nerdy type a lot of words and interpret individual scenes literary analysis level, just on a basic "I am failing to comprehend the basic plot of what I'm viewing" level.

Lucy coming back to Night City and stepping back into that life would be a sadder ending than what already happened to everyone else.

She'd look weird as gently caress in 3d so I don't want to see her in the games is my takeaway lol.

An audio or textlog cameo or whatever is the most I'd want, and even then I don't really want that either but I'd be fine with it.

There's tie in DLC where Falco messages you in the game and tells you that they're not coming back to town. It's not a big DLC but you do get David's jacket and you can find a unique Carnage shotgun.

I think people have just been brain poisoned by long-form storytelling and the need to franchise everything that they can't accept when something is finite so they need to know when the next part is coming out.
