Just a heads up- the solar pendant lights in the top left of this image are really good. I bought two sets 2 years ago as porch lights and they're still going strong in british weather. Last about 3-4 hours on a moderately sunny day, and come on at twilight. They're about as bright as 40W equivalent bulbs and only tail off in brightness in the last half hour or so. There's lots of suppliers and you can get extensions to the waterproof cables they come with to put them where you like.

Tell me about refunds for non-delivery. I’m within two weeks of autoconfirm now on a moderately expensive item that hasn’t had a tracking update since August. It clears customs and then the trail goes cold.

Do I need to talk with the seller first or just file for it?

let's invade New Zealand, they have oil
I've always gone with messaging the seller and ask them to extend the timer (although AliExpress extended the timer significantly during COVID) and then filing dispute after that expires

I've never had a problem with refunds for non delivery using that method

Edit: even doing that I've had at least 30% of my refunded items eventually turn up

I got an ATOTO F7 stereo off amazon and its been fine, sometimes the Android Auto crashes though and I'm not sure if its the fault of the unit or my phone. I just want my steering wheel controls back and I'd rather get kicked in the face than haul it all out again to gently caress with it. I left them a 4 star review, and in the midst of asking them for help with the wiring they asked me what was the reason for the docked star, I ended up making it 5 and they sent me the backup camera (~$60CAD) for free.

I got the 2nd Temu shipping (11 days), initiated return for 2 items. I expected to get a return label but they did the Amazon thing and told me to keep them. I should have upload some pictures because I didn't want to come off as a scammer.

So far I recommend the electric tire pump. It's model C3106 according to the box. Has 2x2000 mah batteries inside. The LCD display is much easier to read than my last one. It also has a compartment containing a few less popular connectors.

Just received my $4 Bluetooth ear buds from Temu. I ordered them on the 9th so they arrived in 8 days.

They sound decent enough to me but the buttons are really cumbersome. For example, to pause, you tap the button on the right earbud and to turn the volume down, you tap it twice. But there is a certain rhythm you have to press it in - too fast and it just pauses, too slow and it just pauses. Not a big deal just a bit annoying. Battery life is going to be super low I think. (they state it's 2.5 hours but we will see if it's more like an hour)

This is my first set of earbuds I've had in a while and they just confirm to me that earbuds aren't really for me but that's more of a me thing. Maybe with time I'll get used to but I always preferred on-ear headphones. I think I'll try and order some of those from Temu as well.

I wish I could just get some more of my beloved Motorola S305s.

Now to see if and/or which side of Christmas it arrives.

I’ll report back whether it’s garbo or not.

If you have an android phone I'm pretty sure you can use the NFC reader in the phone itself to program those tags unless they're somehow different.

Android phones can do the HF tags, not the LF ones. They also can't crack certain types of encryption. So it all depends on what type of tag needs to be cloned.

good hiking radio and okay to use in the US?

Why do they have so many buttons compare to the Motorola radio?

The Baofeng UV5r is extremely common.

It’s not the most durable, but it’s super cheap and functional. It’s also hated by every licensed radio operator because it’s so cheap and allows the use of frequencies that unlicensed folks should not have access to and can potentially interfere with infrastructure and emergency services.

I think (and this is purely just from memory, if someone else knows better they can correct me) that even if you lock it to the frequencies legally used by anyone (FRS, GMRS), it still exceeds the maximum transmitting power that is supposed to be used on those bands.

That being said, you can take an online test for less than $20usd and get legally licensed and you’ll never have to worry about that (just google fcc amateur radio technician test). It’s supposedly a quick study, and you only need to talk to the ham nerds for test purposes.

I’ve never heard of the FCC acting against any end users of it but several companies have been fined for importing it. If you get one and aren’t interfering with anyone else, the odds of getting in trouble are infinitesimal, but you’d still be technically illegal.

The programming cable for it is cheap and a program called Chirp that allows you to easily limit the frequency bands and transmitting strengths. If it’s locked to the legal frequencies/powers it’s supposedly legal (there are some pre-locked that are marketed/sold in the US as FCC legal).

I am not a lawyer or a US licensed radio operator, just a nerd.

I kicked that off when I bought a couple of Baofeng UV5R for use on a road trip with two car loads of us, and then goons pointed out the potential legal issues.

They worked ok and we only used them on the proper channels but after the trip I did some reading and replaced the antennas with some from eBay. Made the reception a lot better, much clearer and I think increased distance as they pick up trucks from all over now.

These are the ones I bought: NA-771. They’re a bit longer and whippier but it’s a noticeable improvement.

Counterpoint: Most licensed radio hams are the worst kinds of boomers and their opinions should always be ignored

Obviously don't mess with emergency channels or god forbid airplane channels, but do get on channel and poo poo on that old ham who liked it better in the old days

I love my UV5Rs. Was cheap enough for me to buy when getting my feet wet in the hobby, and more than powerful enough for anything I want to do legally. You really want to know about the no-nos for your country especially transmitting on emergency frequencies! I bought it knowing of this potential and it's there for that 0.0001% chance I am turbo-hosed in the bush and want to spew out to anyone and anything where I am.

I have the extended battery, battery eliminator to run off cigarette socket, bigger antenna, USB programming cable and the throat-mic for lulz.

Not technically Ali, but it's good to see that other major retailers/shipping conglomerates can really gently caress things up, too.

I'm in Michigan. (This is relevant.) My recent Amazon order of stain remover was shipped, then delayed, then delayed some more, then suddenly marked as "Undeliverable":

Amazon posted:

Unfortunately, a problem occurred during shipping and we had to cancel your delivery. The package is being returned, and we will issue a refund within 3 - 5 business days after the return is processed. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience.
Geez, I thought, undeliverable? What the hell could have happened? This:

Same here--this was my second hosed-up delivery in the last several weeks or so after years of only the very occasional small issues. The first one seemed to have made it to a local delivery driver before it didn't show up and wound up coming UPS several days later. :iiam: I hope the driver's okay.

He’s roughly 38cm from top to bottom and his arms are 44cm. Very plush and huggable, feels like standard hobbyfill / cushion stuffing. The fur is long and soft enough you can brush it the right way or wrong way like in the first pic. The whole thing is super soft except the eyes which are those half circles, and the legs are weird striped fabric that I don’t have a name for. I didn’t have anything “standard” size to put next to him so I grabbed the Xbox control.

He really is nice and I’d consider getting myself one but I’m wary of owning too many stuffed animals as a rapidly-aging, single man. I already have two 40cm dogs from Ikea - gosig and hoppig - partially because I can’t have a real dog but really, I bought gosig on a whim and realised just what an amazing pillow / friend he is.

I really want to buy something but last night, Google Pay stopped me to verify my Visa. Now when I try to check out, I get this error:

"Please check your outstanding orders as the discount has already been used."

I'm 100% sure no orders have gone through, so I've definitely not used the discount before. The store coupon is perma-applied to my account so I can't even remove it. I can un-apply it at checkout, but it still gives that error. Just let me spend my money damnit! I might have to make a whole new account.
