I don't know much about dogs, but I always appreciated a detail someone else pointed out to me: huskies are very friendly, but they're also incredibly noisy and difficult to control. That Makima owns like seven and they're all well-behaved is a great bit of foreshadowing.

more cool poo poo bout Devil powers not being bound by the laws of physics Makima presumably swings her sword at these three and their heads fly off but Quanxi’s arms are not touched It’s even more mysterious because we don’t see Makima swing her sword, she walks out to meet Quanxi with it and after the decapitation we see Makima without a sword wonder how the anime will portray weird things like this Steve Yun fucked around with this message at 19:59 on Jan 18, 2023 |

Maybe it's something that's in the same general realm of her other known abilities to borrow other people's contracts/abilities as well as to exchange any mortal wounds inflicted on her with other people; maybe she was able to 'borrow' the head-cutting properties of the sword and use it up in the process. Or she just commanded them heads to pop off.

Asa's face grows visible scars when she's possessed, right? There's no way Denji doesn't know exactly what she is, although he's probably still trying out to work out her deal. I think his threat that she might be killed isn't something inherently dangerous about his home, but more that he'll be forced to kill Asa if she tries to pull any poo poo there. He's willing to risk himself, but not MiniMakima. https://twitter.com/theAndrewKwan/status/1615814791989235754

I don’t think anyone but Asa and the reader can see the scars. I think Denji would have reacted. The only previous evidence we had was when Toru asked out Yoshida. However that’s the first time Asa was experiencing out of body and the untethered textbox imo is hers. I just don’t think it’s likely Denji doesn’t do a big “bwahhhh” if suddenly scars popped up.

Foreshadowing? Do we see the dogs before the Gun Devil fight? Pretty sure the cat's outta the bag and it's just kind of an "oh, of loving course" moment.

My theory I just came up with is that, yeah, the difference is for the reader, but Asa always has the scars and only notices them on Yoru.

If Denji is so stupid then how could he come up with and lead Operation: Super Smart? Maybe read a loving book about getting a clue

Denji has proved himself by taking care of a cat, a half-dozen dogs, and a Damien- I think it's time we trust him with a girlfriend. As long as he promises to feed her and take her on walks.

Denji doesn't notice the scars on Asa's face whenever she's possessed by Yoru because he's too busy staring at her boobs.

I think the critical mistake people are making here is that denji isn’t just a moron and he isn’t secretly smart. He’s got a level of base cunning and guile entirely separate from his intelligence; he’s stupid like a fox.

I don't think he's stupid I think he's someone who grew up incredibly isolated working for people taking advantage of him. He's uneducated as we can see in multiple scenes when he struggles to read or do basic maths. He's also unsocialised as you can see from pretty much any interaction with girls he has. Even outside of the explicit errors in judgment he makes, there's stuff like not wondering why Asa is asking him out now after their last interaction where she called him a loser. Or just not being bound my a lot of social norms like when he ate the cake without utensils. He's not dumb because he makes these mistakes, he's just never had a chance to learn a lot of things we take for granted. IMO he's not stupid because he has shown the capacity to learn both from his pre-CSM life and in what we see of him during the manga. When he decides to sleep in the bed during the first infinity arc it's not some Luffy level dumb guy move like the other characters react to it as, it's a perfectly sensible thing to him as that's the kind of thing he had to learn to survive growing up. It seems unfair to write those off as some low animal cunning vs just the normal skills you'd have to learn when living as an outsider. He's also shown from the very first chapter to have the capacity for emotional thought and empathy that is also a form of intelligence. When the zombies are rushing him he thinks about it's understandable that they still wanted more as he wanted more when he should have been just happy with Pochita and that wanting a better life isn't inherently bad. He also finally understands power a bit when she loses Meowy and he thinks about the day he thought he lost Pochita. There's a lot of surprising depth to his emotional insights and thoughts throughout the manga that I don't think a stupid person would have. He's also shown to be able to learn "common" normal people skills as the manga progresses. So imo Denji isn't stupid he just lacks a lot of basic skills because he never had the chance to learn them whether they're academic or interpersonal.

Wasn't it Asa seeing her own scars and then realizing she was out of body? Its just an internal way to differentiate the characters

Jerkface posted:Wasn't it Asa seeing her own scars and then realizing she was out of body? Its just an internal way to differentiate the characters That's how I read that scene. The scars are for us and Asa to differentiate when they've changed control, but otherwise we haven't been given any reason to think others see a physical change in Asa when Yoru is running the show.

I'm hoping Denji's house rules aren't related to Nayuta at all. They're because they have 10 giant floofy dogs that'll get super excited and cause chaos at the slightest provocation Asa steps on a squeaky ball and is buried by a wave of amped up huskies Foxfire_ fucked around with this message at 04:00 on Jan 20, 2023 |

"Randomly kills her caretaker for fun and is a lethal danger to any unsuspecting guest" kinda fails the "is better person than Makima" part. Which is why I hope the whole thing about rules is Denji being either overly dramatic, or a dumbass.
