FF14's story/art/characters/setting are excellent but the single-player parts of the gameplay are trash until Stormblood and the first few dungeons are pretty boring too. Also, you have to take into account that the other FFs with good stories don't literally ask you to play a 40 hour prologue first. I think Shadowbringers is the best FF story, but it's only by virtue of the fact that you had to play through ARR, HW, and SB to get to it and the appreciation of the characters and world you've gotten up until that point. A game like FF7 is just good on its own. Also I'm gonna buy SoP now.

I pre-ordered the CE of ARR, and played from Head Start to just before the first new content patch. I just came back last year, and it's SO much better.

Perhaps through some sort of j word Many moons ago I had the vague inkling of a FF8 remake where each character had their own actual set of abilities but equipping GFs would give you extra abilities depending on the GF and the character. Like Ifrit would give Squall Fire Blade but give Selphie Fira or something. And specific combinations of GFs would unlock more stuff like giving Rinoa Alexander+Bahamut+Siren lets her use Ultima. So what I'm saying is that when FFXVII uses that idea I said it first.

Will FFXX just be an AI trained with all the previous games? You just wander around various towns gathering clues about the big bad. Each town is in a different dimension so some may be mobile, some may be 2d, others different kinds of 3D. And it presents us an opportunity solve a metaverse crime with everyone else playing?
