I appreciate that these last two chapters have made it clear "Yes, Denji is still upset about what happened with Power and Aki"

Denji has trauma, he's managing it as best he can but it hasn't gone away because that's not how that stuff works. Denji is a hedonist, but he's not emotionless or incapable of forming genuine bonds that he'll miss when he loses them.

If Asa makes it through all of part 2 without getting bumped out of the spotlight or turning evil or dying or something, that will mean that Fujimoto has successfully had the protagonist from the first part tag out. Is that a feat any other manga author has accomplished? Araki kinda does it with Jojo but usually if a character from older material shows up they get booted to recurring guest character status and not a full, but secondary, co-star position

On the 3rd page.

If Asa is falling upwards and Falling Devil is the same orientation as Asa, then is Falling randomly hovering upside down just for the vibes?

Incredible ending to the chapter. :allears:

Also with the way the last page is framed Denji may have gotten Asa to start falling downward?

What makes you think Denji is tagging out? Aki and Asa seem to have similar positions of importance in their respective parts. (to answer the Q my immediate answer is Hunter X Hunter hasnt featured Gon in a long-rear end time). Most Shonens have different characters feature more prominently in different arcs.

quote:

"Even though we were poor, we had a pet Japanese rice fish. I found it dead one summer. I went to toss its body into the trash like in Parasyte, but my girlfriend said she wanted me to bury it," Fujimoto writes. As you can read here, he goes on to say he attempted to bury the fish at a local park but was unable to break dry ground. He decided to just leave the fish atop some soil, but things took a turn minutes later.

"As I watched it for a little while, ants found the body and began trying to carry it away. I'm not sure what came over me, but in that moment, love for that pet fish welled within me for the first time. I brushed the ants away and then ate it," he shared.

As he goes on, Fujimoto says he wound up lying to his girlfriend about the fish's fate. "That brings us too now," he writes. "The memory of lying to my girlfriend is far stronger than the guilt of eating our pet fish. Please allow me to confess my sin here."

Fujimoto is a very interesting person.

Denji continues to get better and better.

I was imagining this scene being voice acted and got choked up

I thought about all the times friends on social media said they were having a bad day and asked for photos of cats or dogs

HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE DEAD, MOTHERFUCKER?

Fujimoto rules. To have such an absurd situation be layered with such real dialogue is a true skill, it is crazy that Asa got introduced into Part 2 and is so real and fleshed out I couldn't imagine this manga without her.

Life is full of misery, but cats also exist. It honestly makes me wonder if Fujimoto has real experience with those kind of feelings because gently caress if that didn't resonate with me. (I type, with my cat making a nuisance of herself because it's dinnertime. Can't lie in bed all day, I've got a mouth to feed.)

This feels like such a different authorial voice than the one in Fire Punch. Fujimoto has evolved from "life loving sucks and then it loving sucks" to "life loving sucks and then it loving sucks, lmao. wanna see this cool pic of my dog?"

Asa is saying out loud a lot of stuff Denji has probably thought.

Is Asa now calm enough that Yoru can take over her body?

There's no way he hasn't. The dialogue is too real not to. Asa's thoughts as she accepted suicide brought me back to a time of my life I'd very much never want to return to, as did her thinking no one could have it as bad as she does. And Denji reminded me of the good and important things in life. My cat, ice cream every night, and of course, sex.
