I've got 11.5" wide panes of glass on either side of my front door, the glass is completely clear and in the afternoon/evening the sun is shooting through them and hitting some artwork that I am wanting to keep from sun damage. Should I get like 1ft wide curtain rods and curtains for each little window? Or should I get one big curtain rod that goes across both windows and the door, and then just hang a curtain on each side? Is there some other stylish way to block the light that I'm not thinking of?

You could try adding frosting panels to the side lights. You can get them in all sorts of styles and light blocking options. They're usually cut to fit and go on with soapy water and a squeegee.
