Severin is putting out Roman Scavolini's Nightmare on UHD. Amazing. Never would I have thought that movies like this or Hell of the Living Dead would get 4Ks.

I got the 9 movie Fast and Furious bluray pack from Target. The discs are from the individual releases so it’s 9 discs. Which means 9 of the center spindle things to hold them in place. 5 of the spindles are broken. Little bits snapped off that fell out of the case onto my floor the first time I opened it. Out of the remaining four spindles, two of them just straight up don’t work. Only the first and ninth spindles, the ones that are part of the exterior case and not on the flappy pages, actually hold discs in place. I knew a guy in high school who kept his DVDs in a big stack held together with a rubber band. That is more protective than this case.

My VS shipment came in! And we are watching New York Ninja. This movie is great. Why does everyone dress like a Street Fighter 6 avatar? Why does the New York Ninja wear roller skates and keep cutting his hand? Who knows. Who cares. It's New York Ninja! In non-VS news I also got a cool replacement case for my childhood VHS copy of the Sonic OVA and the Kino Lorber Zachariah BD release for $40...way better than the $110 it's going for on Amazon right now. All in all a good mail day.

I am still mad that Barnes and Noble stopped shipping overseas for Criterion in particular. Maybe it'll change with this deal, but I'll probably end up doing a pity spend at Deep Discount or something

Popped into a JB Hi-Fi on my way to a pharmacy to get a nose spray for a blocked nose. Randomly found an imported Region B Criterion edition of Something Wild and the D&D steelbook. A pretty good pair of discs to snag randomly. I wish Criterion would hurry up and put Paris is Burning on Region B already.

Interesting VS development, I wonder if it’s because of the issues with displaying the adult material within the iPhone app? It’s pretty clear the audience has been segmenting, I’m sure a lot of people who might want a copy of Drop Dead Fred would be slightly less interested in - and maybe a little put off by the existence of - Let My Puppets Come.

If this helps them get out of trouble with folks on the main site while upping their sexploitation output I'm all for it. Glad they're not just throwing their hands up and phasing it out entirely. If anything maybe this means they can do some that wouldn't otherwise get a VS release - I nearly sent them a suggestion to do 2016 movie Antiporno because while it's a erotic exploitation movie it's also an excellent horror film I'd love to have in my collection. I otherwise don't have any interest in their sex category but the inclusion of order stacking is great for those who do. Seems very pro-consumer while covering their asses.

There's a nice Spanish Blu-ray (region free) for Fright Night part 2 that I picked up via Amazon. It looks pretty alright and is a nice placeholder until a better version gets released. Fright Night part 2 is a movie that got much better as time passed. I wasn't too big on it when I originally saw it but it's really improved with repeated viewings and I think it's a minor classic nowadays.

Picked up the Shout Factory Return of the Living Dead UHD yesterday in anticipation of July 4th. I have a nice little selection of July 4th UHDs now. Return of the Living Dead, Independence Day, 1776, Jaws, and I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Grabbed the 4K of Heat on sale so I'll be rewatching that again too, expecting to still love it. Hoping I can limit myself with the B&N sale, I have most of what I'd want with Arrow since I got Re-Animator a few weeks ago but I still want more things from Criterion...
