chivalry 2 has been my go to game for the last six months but torn banner has stopped paying attention to it and so it’s been overrun by nazis, which is always twice as bad in historical games and now it’s even worse absent any moderation at all. it sucks, there aren’t any other medieval multiplayer games like that but every single match is an endless deluge of poo poo like “this game is full of [slur] because historians are soy homosexual communists who hate white men” and everyone somberly agreeing. the sort of festering growth of a particularly toxic community can gently caress up games big time, insurgency sandstorm and bannerlord both became intolerable on account of the same dynamic at least battlebits is still good and heavily moderated, funny how three devs putting in an iota of effort have managed to quash bigotry a hundred times more effectively than these larger, established companies

lol well rip. kind of suspected torn banner would do that again. i played a fuckload of chiv 1 and became a spinlord (its fun) on duel servers. i dont think chiv1 ever had the melee game problem that mordhau, bannerlord, and inevitably chiv2 got. probably does now. does chiv 2 not have community servers or is that an official server problem

I never played Chiv 1 but my understanding is the combat is even better in 2 as far as chambers/ripostes/etc go but the maps are considerably less inspired, which tracks, since in Chiv 2 they’re mostly “realistic” in that there isn’t any grand architecture or silliness like I’ve seen in screenshots from the first game. I think I’m mainly annoyed as Chiv is the only online game I’ve ever actually been legit good at, I get first place a good 8/10 matches when I’m playing regularly and used to have a lot of fun with the good natured nonsense built into the game that makes the competitive stuff less important, but the fun is being sucked out of it by every match being so unbearably racist Frog Act has issued a correction as of 17:07 on Jul 20, 2023 |

yeah they seem to have retained the same voice actors, the mason vanguard disillusioned lines about fat nobles and not caring who rules this shite-hole are some of the best barks ever created for video games. I didn’t know they did the same thing to chivalry 1 but am not remotely surprised, TB is singularly impressive as a company that somehow manages to make things way worse with every patch consistently for long periods of time. they’ve been promising cross platform since launch and just put it into barely functional beta last month lol the world is in desperate need of a battlebits but for medieval slashers

been ignoring the story as much as I can and having a great time in labyrinth of refrain; so much goddamn fun throwing 15 bodies into the dungeon and just having them enhance each other’s attacks and just melt mobs gently caress the crit system in that game for randomly just crippling your toons without a way of fixing it without going back to town though

I also prefer chat in Chiv because it’s the only game I’m good at and getting first place to poo poo on the racists and idiots is pretty satisfying, but increasingly less so as the community consensus changes to “kick the person mad about bigotry” instead of “kick the bigot”

I guess hearing a bunch of awful nerds and children screeching the n word is not my idea of a good time and that poo poo is so common in every game. Seems like battlebits has a good idea just permabanning anyone detected saying slurs but i doubt aaa game companies wanna do that because so much of their market is disgusting dipshits that don't deserve to breathe

I will still say that mobile suit gundam battle operations 2 is a good game when you actually find a match when you don't get kicked out of match making after 10 seconds and get told good job while you had the 1000% crate find boost while you don't play with max tier suits when you are not kicked out an penalized for the game being peer to peer when the game doesn't have too many over powered gacha suits in it
