We think the theme for next season is going to be bad T shirts.. Naming your team after bad t-shirt.

Unless there's any objections?

Definitely not too late, commish can alter keepers up until the draft starts if needed.

(Also we're doing 2 keepers? Lol poo poo, I zoned out when that came up)

Bumping the keeper rules, I slightly refined the wording.

Two keepers total, you can keep:
  • A player who averaged under 48 fantasy points in exchange a 6th round pick
  • A rookie in exchange for a 9th round pick
  • Any player of your choice in exchange for a first round pick.

Last season everyone but me took a keeper so the first round was just me and the two expansion picks.

Ah so the two keepers can be instead of
- 1st round pick
- 6th round pick (for a player who averaged under 48 points) or 9th round pick (for a rookie)

edit: ugh can't see how to add another keeper everyone else on my team is cut

I think Kalen or I will be happy to put anyone on your (or anyone else who wants to participate) team as a keeper if you decide you want to partake.

You can go to standings --> 22-23 to see who was on your roster if you dont' remember.

Unfortunately to see their whole season average, you're going to have to go to the player tab and and look at their stats there.

Rick's comment was accounting for the "2nd keeper must have averaged <48 fantasy ppg, or been a rookie" clause, which hadn't been mentioned in the recent discussion regarding keepers.

Makes sense. You could make the argument that maybe keeping Jonas for the 6th pick is a good value since he went in the 5th last season but I'm not sure if that's enough of a step up to lose the opportunity.

Sorry this might be dumb but this was my first year playing. I get to pick 2 players to keep if I want to give up the compensatory draft pick for them?

Correct.

So if you wanted to keep Paul George that would take your 1st round pick.

If you wanted to keep for example one of Jerami Grant, Chris Paul or Jordan Clarkson, that would be in exchange for your 6th round pick.

I guess the way I wrote it says OR but the more I think about it, the less I think it matters . . so you could also use your 9th pick on Ben Mathurin, as long as you had fewer than 2 total keepers.

This is a new system so no one has familiarity with it. Last year it was just regular 1 keeper for your first rounder iirc

I was looking through the rosters and only a couple teams had 2 keepers, so I figured I wasn’t the only one who missed the boat. I read it here in the thread but didn’t realize it had gone live. Thanks for accommodating

So just to clarify:

Keep a maximum of 2 players (0 & 1 are also options) who were on your roster at the end of last year, subject to these rules:

Keep anyone in exchange for the 1st Rd pick, and/or
Keep a player who averaged <48 fp/gm for a 6th, and/or
Keep a player who was a rookie in 2022-23 for a 9th.

Did I overlook anything?

Where exactly do you see this? I must be blind.

I'm considering Scottie Barnes, OG Anunobu, or maybe JJJ depending on how the averages look.

JJJ is over 50, but OG and Barnes are both under 48.

By the way, where it says Roster (middle of the screen where the players are, not a top-top menu thing) the drop-down lists all the squads, so anyone can check their line-up with two clicks (or 3 if your need to select 2022-23 again).

I got Jamal in the 6th last year but he ended up averaging 49 =/

Any request of rule changes or scoring adjustments?

I'd like to lose KD as my first-round keeper, swap Alperen Şengün for my 6th-round pick, and swap Jalen Williams for my 9th-round pick please

Re: scoring system, I don't know how anyone else feels but I wouldn't mind a modest bump for blocks and steals (2 pts -->3?) for no reason other than they're cool. Five players averaged >2 bpg last season and nobody averaged >2 steals, so it's not like triple-doubles where you have a half-dozen players clowning the rest of the league in a category*

When somebody beasts for like a half-dozen changes of possession, they're having a massive impact in the game and it's fun when it's reflected in a spike in their points for the evening. It would also make for a little more distinction between bigs, particularly that whole middle pool of somewhat interchangeable centers that all average around 14 and 9. If I cared a little bit a lot more I'd run #s to see what kind of an impact it would really have, but I'm pretty sure it would be pretty tame overall and would modestly improve stock of traditional bigs and defensive specialists off the bench by a point or two a game.

Don't know what anybody else thinks, I'm not particularly invested either way just spitballin'.

* worthless stat of the day: The top four triple-double guys last season (Jokic 29, Domas 14,. Luka 10, Ja 7) had more triple-doubles last season between them than the rest of the NBA combined

Yeah I'd support those scoring changes. Wouldn't make for a huge difference but still worthwhile.

I have a suggestion that might be more controvertial - is there any interest in reducing the number of transactions we can do each week? The teams that finished at the top were all teams that made the most transactions, so maybe that would make things more interesting/even? I'm thinking we could limit them to 5 instead of 7.

Or maybe that's just mean and I shouldn't be so lazy.

Block and steal bumps make sense.

I am not opposed to a transaction reduction, mainly because transactions are not equally open to everyone equally due to Fleaflicker’s weird rules around it. But also transactions are fun. I am curious what people think.

Red Rox

Yeah most days I couldn’t make any transactions cause of the time zones cause everyone was locked, and then when I woke up everyone decent was taken already. A bit frustrating.

But I’m ok either way.

rivetz

Im generally in favor of keeping the weekly transaction limit where it is, I guess. Red Rox nailed it, the real problem w Fleaflicker is the inherent advantage granted to all the team owners living to the east of you. I'm not sold that lowering the weekly limit does much about that; I'd like to be irritated two times less per week, but sometimes just being able to plug in [literally any warm body] on short notice can make a big difference. And it obviously owns when you bump into a unexpectedly big night from some deep reserve and feel like a genius while pointedly ignoring your other two deep flyers that mustered 19 pts between em

I guess the other thing is (speaking from experience I know many here have shared) if you think getting hosed on waiver pickups is a drag, prepare to be absolutely ttturbo-hosed if you get hit with a serious string of injuries. Periodically losing some dudes for inconveniently long stretches is one thing, but I had a season a couple years back where like six of my top eight guys were on IR and man the lineups were so ugly. Doing that with fewer weekly transactions, I'm seriously that dog staring at the cupcake just thinking about it

E: although it's so much better with twelve teams vs ], because that poo poo was sadistic. I am talking lineups featuring Malachi Flynn and Chuma Okeke levels of dire
