i mean, licensed stuff is gonna call them wives because that's literally the text of the show. that one sd gundam game already did. they literally call each other fiances and then wives, in the show. i dont think thats 'new coke' or anything i think theres just a perceived difference between the show saying it randomly and an actual person in real life mentioning gay marriage.

Twitter was completely normal about it and more than a few are snapping at the translator himself which I think is taking things a bit too far. Just finished this show, enjoyed it a lot. My first Gundam show. The best parts were the core arcs of Suletta, Miorine and Prospera. Are there more standalone Gundam shows with a similar character-driven focus that are as good as this? I saw some talk ITT about IBO, would that be a good thing to watch next?

Tbh most every gundam show is character focused and most range from pretty good to great, with some exceptions. Iron Blooded Orphans has a pretty good main cast but it does take a bit longer than G Witch for them to really pop off. It's worth a watch, I'd say, but quite a different vibe from this show.
