pumpkin spice was always supposed to mean "fall time spices", you know, like nutmeg and cinnamon. the spices that normal people think of during fall time, typically used in pumpkin pie. but some people took the name too literally and caused a big social media uproar about how "tHeReS nO aCtUaL pUmPkIn In ThE pUmPkIn SpIcE lAtTe!!!" so starbucks had to acquiesce to these idiots and put actual pumpkin in the drink.
