conservatives have been beating the "there should be no secrets between a child and teacher that the parents don't know" drum again but there's an article on ol' elon "elon musk" musk that definitely shows parents are regularly the wrong people to trust with personal info

if your kid doesn't feel comfortable telling you something, probably best to consider it's a problem with you, not them

quote:

Musk’s anti-woke sentiments were partly triggered by the decision of his oldest child, [deadname], then 16, to transition. “Hey, I’m transgender, and my name is now Jenna,” she texted the wife of Elon’s brother. “Don’t tell my dad.” When Musk found out, he was generally sanguine, but then Jenna became a fervent Marxist and broke off all relations with him. “She went beyond socialism to being a full communist and thinking that anyone rich is evil,” he says. The rift pained him more than anything in his life since the infant death of his firstborn child Nevada. “I’ve made many overtures,” he says, “but she doesn’t want to spend time with me.”

He blamed it partly on the ideology he felt that Jenna imbibed at Crossroads, the progressive school she attended in Los Angeles. Twitter, he felt, had become infected by a similar mindset that suppressed right-wing and anti-establishment voices.

You couldn't grok my race car, but you dug the roadside blur.
My dad was going off about that since I triggered the Fox News infodump and I just held the phone away from my ear while he talked poo poo. I wish I could block Fox News on everything. I wanted to see if they could block it in patient rooms at work because I don't like servicing computers to the dulcet tones of RTLM, and looked around for DEI group or something and lol all that must have evaporated by 2021

possibly the case (wonky shoulder), but i was thinking that the only people who look good in a vest are pretty athletic, a trim waist pretty much a prerequisite.

i used to do homemade eggnog each winter, i stopped for a year or two but i told a lady about it and she wants me to make some for her, so i guess i'll be doing up a batch this year. i don't go in for the elaborate "separate the whites, singe them on the stovetop" bullshit; dr lancefield's recipe is an excellent starting point

i still have a bottle in the fridge from last years batch i’m excited to try

i do separate the egg whites (lol gently caress this singing nonsense) but tbh that only makes a difference for about a week then all the airs gone anyway.

nah it's everywhere (or will be shortly anyway). in nyc we went from winter to summer to winter and back again etc. several years in a row

of course "winter" is relative now too though, it didn't snow at all this past one despite getting cold enough to do so for about two months

like if anything the end of winter is now like around february and spring lasts from march to mid-april. autumn is basically gone

e: but i guess you could say it's like november-december. in nyc a couple of weeks were in the mid 70s/high 60s

yeah i mean obviously the equinoxes haven't changed or anything. but the temperatures and weather we'd associate with either spring or autumn are shifting to earlier/later in the year, and their durations are getting much shorter
