They'll never come close but if they just went full Roger Rabbit it would be incredible

Anyway Tony Tony Chopper should be a literal muppet, flappy mouth and all. But the likely best case scenario is going Detective Pikachu and just make him look like the original design with more texture.

Sounds like a Luffy thing to do.

They should have had Shanks' bounty float up at the end when Mihawk was popping over to say hello.

I think leaning into the cartoony nature of One Piece helped sell the CGI that they did in the show. Half of why stretchy powers look like rear end is that they are inherently unrealistic in a way almost no other power is. Also some of the jankier Buggy scenes go by without screaming for your attention because it's a near cartoon clown doing it.

Which, honestly, is a decent part of the problem with the Fishmen. The prosthetics are too serious business and too limiting for the surrounding cartoons. Luffy's stretchiness looked wonky sometimes, but the brain forgives far more than the prosthetic Fishmen who seem to have gotten way too much botox.

Given his whole deal with Bounties, this should be Bellamy imo.

I feel like this is a recurring problem with live action anime, where trying to ground it just makes everything look cheap and bad. Speed Racer figured it out years ago- the production needs to commit fully to the source material if you expect the audience to commit as well.

I really like Arlong in live action. The look is a little off but I'm not sure what you'd have to do - or more accurately spend - to get a more comic accurate representation. Great performance, though, like all of them.

Love how they lean into everything. Garp? Yeah, he gets his doggy head ballcap. Just sitting there eating nothing steaks and drinking whiskey like a champ.

I suspect he's going to show up working with Buggy and Alvida at Loguetown. A hypnotist as part of a circus performance.

Especially because his wanted poster was shown on the wall in episode 1.

I'm of the opinion that the wall means absolutely nothing in terms of whether or not a character will appear in the future - it's an easy way to put fun nods/Easter eggs in for people familiar with the source material without committing to anything, but still building the overall feel of the world for new fans.

Yeah if someone is on the wall but not in the season it's likely just an easter egg.

I love that the only actual bounty numbers you see in the Live Action also successfully mask just what a huge loving difference there is between the East Blue and the Grand Line Paradise (and in turn Grand Line New World and then Emperor Level poo poo). By the end, everybody is amazed at Luffy having the highest bounty in the East Blue, but Mihawk's canceled bounty means you don't see what his was and you can't see what Roger's bounty was on his poster. Seeing those figures this early would completely destroy that sense of scale and I love how the bounties making wild jumps up over the course of the manga slowly primed the audience for the crazy amounts the Emperors or Roger etc have on them, while still letting the figures Luffy etc get still seem like big deals in the moment as they get them.

I forget, is Chopper's bounty in the tens of thousands still?

Luffy was a big fan of the sweets he was given during the post-fight celebration on Fishman Island, so it shouldn't be too out of place for him to enjoy some nice sweets in the live action show.

this weeks anime episode was really good. it does a good job of showing 1) the ludicrous jump up in ability gear 5 has given luffy (the scene of him bouncing off the lightning progressively faster and faster made him seem way beyond anything he's been doing thus far) and 2) kaido is going all out to try and put this guy down, he just cannot
