I got Ashley Furniture (which my parents told me to never buy from when I moved out), some lovely webmd podcast that I think used the X-Files theme for bgm, and chumba. On the ad front, I got ads about Texas auto insurance minimums, then a series of ads about booking a staycation in downtown Dallas as well as the Dallas Metro's hottest new Mediterranean restaurant. I was very confused until I looked at where my VPN had been configured for at random. (Listening to an older episode I downloaded last night, the same thing happened leading to me hearing a lot of repeated spots about a car dealership in Florida that was proud to boast that it was the largest Toyota dealership in the country based on a specific subset of passenger vehicle sales in the course of a specific time period.)

I saw the new Talk is Jericho is "The Transformation of Gabbi Tuft" and wasn't going to give it a second look assuming it was a true crime episode but I ended up seeing the description and I had no idea the former Tyler Reks is trans. Will have to give it a listen because I've been kind of interested in what happened to that era of WWE wrestler, Reks, DJ Gabriel, and well, that's a more interesting story.

If you're going to just randomly drop allegations in an unrelated conversation the least you could do is have hard evidence but honestly it's just such an unnecessary thing to say when that wasn't even the conversation at hand. And you clearly didn't "remember things" clearly enough if you had to ask when you made your post. There's no reason to even bring that up when the conversation is "I'm interested in listening to this episode of a podcast featuring a wrestler from a time that doesn't get a lot of coverage, and who transitioned". This is getting ridiculous in how often it's happened lately. It just brings things down for zero benefit. If it turns out that episode of Talk Is Jericho has her espousing those views, then we can talk.

Paul Heyman’s appearance on the Rick Rubin podcast is so exceptional. I’m only 30 mins in and he’s put over so many people SO HARD. already loved the guy but hot drat this is great. also does a really uncanny Steve Austin impression? anyhow, worth a listen.

Interesting note that WWE twice refused to let Gabbi backstage for what seems to be but cannot be confirmed to be transphobia but an interesting show even if it needs to rush through everything in an hour.

I'll have to check it out, following social media stuff she is still absolutely a carny but chilled out a lot when she started transitioning and now mostly does TikToks about either pro-trans rights or generic TikTok content. I followed a lot of her stuff when she first came out.

Just started listening to the Gabbi Tuft TIJ episode and yeah, she really has chilled out a lot, but also so much of her experience early on in the company hits really close to home. "An environment where you're almost afraid to be at your job" and "you're being told ten different things by ten different people and also told to respect all of them, which leads to you afraid to try anything new". Wrestling can be an incredible place but it can be so demeaning and demoralizing too, so many intangibles you're expected to grasp at all times. This is a really good listen so far and I'm really impressed at all the little details she remembers about her run, from names of agents to stories of heat. It is so cool to hear from this era since so much has changed since in what feels like a short amount of time and yet it rarely gets covered in stuff like this. Looking forward to listening to more later. The praise for Matt Cardona was nice.

Matt Riddle's entire career is based on fooling promoters and reporters that he was a great guy while people with half a clue told them he was a huge piece of poo poo. Promoters looking the other way while he used fans for drugs and sex because they thought he was a star and was very nice to them.

I think the last great one was when he had Stoke on and he's dropping all these 90s hip-hop references and Jericho's pretending to get them when he obviously doesn't.

Not just downplaying of allegations but painting them in the most favorable light given that Riddle lied about them and making it blatantly obvious that Riddle is a source here since Dave did not poll every wrestling company of any size if they expressed interest in Matt Riddle and I have good reason to believe it's not true. Perhaps even laughably not true. Bad, biased reporting.
