Kafouille posted:It ended in 83, given car design timelines it lines up decently. But you're right that the wedge styles were a big factor, since you needed a way to hit the minimum headlight height requirements in some way. And the crash regs did make those low hoodlines unfeasible, so there's not much reason for popups even if you could make them pass crash tests by themselves. For some reason this post made me imagine a modern height truck with pop ups on the bonnet a solid 5+ feet in the air just blinding the absolute gently caress out of everything on the streets. (so not really much different than current night drives for those of us who drive smol cars )

They should do pop-down lights which come out from the underside of the bumper instead.

As we saw with the web designer that didn't want to make websites for same-sex couples (case name 303 Creative LLC v. Elenis) and the MOHELA student loan case whose name escapes me RN, the supreme court doesn't give a poo poo about standing when it suits them.

And then there's Thomas, who can't make his wife keep her mouth shut, not that it matters, apparently.

Dealers, man. Dealers. Getting my car fixed. Despite having three different ways to contact them, none work. Finally got through to a receptionist but they couldn't answer any questions. The phone tree said "For Saturn Sales, press 5" I don't think I'm ever going there again (they didn't used to be this bad).

So a recent thing here in Australia is that all Heavy Vehicles are now registered under a 'National Heavy Vehicle' set of plates, not state specific. Enter this wanker in a 2022 Ford F250 Dual Cab 'Super Duty': Humphreys fucked around with this message at 12:18 on Oct 9, 2023 |

Great bodywork, but still stuck with that amazingly discordant roofline. I hate that rear section on the stock Tahoe, much less this one. I mean, what angle do you like? There's at least 3 different angles going on with the pillars... It would be so much cleaner if they didn't angle the C-pillar forward. They're not wrong about the styling and pain making it looks smaller, though. Having actual curves and whatnot on the sides make it look significantly less massive. The regular Tahoe has no styling lines or creases on the sides at all. It's just a massive vertical slab of steel, and looks it. weg posted:Definitely right thread but it seems well executed for what it is? MetaJew posted:I do not understand most of those words, or straya in general, but WHAT THE gently caress?! Registration over here is based on how many cylinders the engine has, it varies a bit between states but here in Queensland its $716 per year at the cheapest for 1-3 cylinders or electric, up to $1370 for 9-12 cylinders. don't know what you do if you've got some weirdo W16 or whatever. It does include compulsory third party insurance, but still pretty expensive if you're trying to keep a few cars. I also under quoted for 4 cylinder rego in my original post, and possibly over quoted for the bullshit heavy vehicle rego. And yeah, QLD = Queensland and rego = registration.

Just as notes, the NHVR is compulsory for vehicles over 4.5t GVM and also the operators need to comply with the NHV laws and licenses - and on tollways pay the heavy vehicle rates and other charges which are extensive. The mudflaps allude to it being operated by a company, (likely transport esp with that hitch) so it's likely not a private owner being an rear end in a top hat. sleepy gary posted:Does this mean you pay $716-1370 for registration and that includes liability insurance?
