I think it was more fear of what she represented: all six of them are free now, all at once, and they're all pissed at her as a common foe now. She flat out says to Moggy "You don't want to fight me, honey." She thinks Moggy's beneath her, but all six of them working against her, together or apart, is a pants making GBS threads prospect for her.

also lanfear kind of walked into a trap set up by the one forsaken who is actually noted as being pretty good at those, and moghedien likely could have...probably killed her, if she wanted to? it might not be the easiest thing ever, but moggy definitely had sort of the upper hand there and probably just avoided doing it purely because there's only 7 forsaken around at that moment and they probably don't want to ice her unless they're absolutely sure she's lost to them.

Lol that they literally had Moghedien create a spider web. Subtle the show isnt.

Anyways finished New Spring and a typically electrifying ending by Jordan. But the slow pace at the beginning and middle of the book with not much being done other than White Tower goings on definitely was felt, without the main series length and overall meta plot helping to push it forward. Those slow periods that then create a sustained tension that explodes into an amazing climax is Jordan's trademark but it feels like too much happens in the last 20 pages compared to the rest of the book. Still like it for the added context it gives the rest of the series (though now I'm left thinking that Moiraine's insistence on covering up Merean's crimes led to the Black Ajah acting without any countervailing force and potentially killing thousands of people in the interum). Like the Simallarion to the series LotR.

And started the first Non Jordan book. Even reading the first paragraphs you can tell there's a huge shift in the writing. Shorter sentences, more emphasis on punchy sentences. Let's see how this goes.

Having her make little web style weaves in her intro is actually pretty subtle, a lot more so than “hey there goes moghedien, I’ve done my research and did you know she was named after a poisonous spider???”

the forsaken literally pick their own Cool Evil Person names that literally embody the weird poo poo they do, it's not really a surprise if the show actively puts that stuff to use given that the books aren't incredibly subtle about it that often, either

Did Moghedien ever rock spider fashion or do anything spider-y other than being good at political intrigue and spycraft in the books? Trying to remember.

I just checked up on Mog's history for a refresher and I never knew she joined LTT's staff, or that Mog and Birgitte had past history lol

quote:

Moghedien was a relatively young Aes Sedai, roughly 200 years old in the Age of Legends when the Bore was created. She was often overlooked as harmless and unimportant, though even before pledging her soul to the Dark One, there are records of Moghedien violating ethical law in her job. This appearance gave ample opportunity, making her ideal in the business of spying and sabotage. In fact, it was said that she ran what was perhaps the Shadow's most extensive intelligence network during the War of Power.

Moghedien joined Lews Therin Telamon as an employee of his staff and from her position directed several of the major setbacks for the Light in the early War. Although not a general like others who aided the Shadow in the War, Moghedien was responsible for scores of civilian deaths.[17]

One of her plots for bringing down Lews Therin was foiled by Birgitte Silverbow, then known as Teadra. This made Moghedien swear to take a gruesome revenge on the hero. She barely escaped with her life when she was discovered as a supporter of the Shadow.

"She hides and takes no risks. She attacks only where she sees weakness, and moves only in shadows. If she fears defeat, she will run; she is not one to fight to the last, even when doing so has the chance of victory. A chance is not good enough for Moghedien. Lanfear always claimed Tel'aran'rhiod for her own, but Moghedien could do things here far beyond Lanfear, though she has not Lanfear's strength in the world of flesh."

TGS is one of my favorite books. It being so focused on Rand and Egwene is great.

The last three books are pretty much my favourite in the series. TSR beats them all out one-on-one but as a run they're unparalleled. They're so much more cinematic and there's zero downtime across the trio, just moments landing and landing and landing right on top of each other. Phwoar.

just finished the season

the casting wasn't very good, except for some of the women, especially liandrin and lanfear. egwene's actress had gotten better this season imo

the costume design was good for the most parts. the damane pacifiers sucked rear end, but otherwise it was ok, and the aiel were perfect. the seanchan armors looked properly villainous and exotic

apart from that the show runners really dropped the ball. the foretelling about the dragon's birth was really lame, even the lovely comic did it better. and why was lan a channeling specialist all of a sudden? and the best scenes in the book were ruined too. turak's and rand's duel could have had cool sword fighting coreography instead of rand just going "lightning bolt lightning bolt!". and ingtar's most defining moment when he stopped being a fatalist darkfriend and redeemed himself was just a wet shart. and since this show clearly didn't lack money, why weren't rand and ishmael fighting in the sky?

the only good change this show did was killing the prophet guy. like, the original idea of the series was "what if a normal guy (who was the author insert) was the messiah?" and the prophet was just background noise related to that. so it was kinda like the barrow wights and tom bombadil and could be removed easily

the thing i enjoyed the most about this season was the dramatic irony of knowing who the unrevealed black sisters and other darkfriends were

i wish that the showrunners had used the cool parts of the books instead of writing their own shittier plot. perhaps the next turning of the wheel will have talented people making the adaptation

Now that two of the three things May gets from going through the door have been added in without him having to go through the door I wonder how the last little bit will be revealed.

I’m guessing the show skips the Aelfinn and Eelfinn which means Moiraine sticks around longer. Hopefully she gets more to do in TLB too.

I don't think there's any way they can make actual snake and fox people for it :/ Loial alone is passable, but I think it's mostly the actor's charm allowing the weird everything else to be ignored.

This also solves the problem of having Lanfear potentially disappear for a few seasons by just… not having her disappear instead.
