there's a lot of isolated fun stuff in the delta series that doesn't make it over to the movies but pretty much any time it gets plot heavy it goes to poo poo because the plot is nonsense and there's no credible antagonist. which is, sadly most of what's going on in the last half. movie 1 salvages whatever they can into actually giving them a motive and then movie 2 introduces new bad guys that also don't make much sense but are at least fun. any episode where they're in the village their base is in though is good though because the delta cast is great and those are just low stakes hangout episodes. uh there's the episode where the delta is running out of oxygen and walkure is doing idol PR work to calm everyone down and fix poo poo, I like that one. there's the one with the gay hacker girl that airdrops malware walkure NFTs into everyone crypto wallets, and has the insanely good Silent Hacker montage

i really hate the og macross series. frontier is pretty decent though alto is kinda dull. 7 is funny but like 4x the length it needs to be. delta has a good first half and a bad second half.

I like the headcannon that the in-universe movie DYRL would take the historical figures of Lynn Minmay and Lynn Kaifun make them significantly more sympathetic in that film vs. what they were like in real life. Like, obviously they'd do that with a person like Minmay who has such a historical importance to that society after the war.
