We’ve had at least 4 Metroid movies, it’s called the Alien franchise (though seriously I’m not entirely sure how you could make something unique out of that)

I guess you are one of those metroid fans who don't understand it's a niche series that has barely been successful. I hate to break it to you, but it's more likely we will see Kirby or Splatoon than metroid. Metroid games have barely ever sold particularly well. There's a reason Nintendo abandoned it for years and finally brought it back when they had a 100 million selling console. And even then it still didn't sell all that great. All the metroid games combined have sold fewer than 22 million copies. Over 35 years. That's not the sort of thing that leads to spending a hundred million dollars making a movie. The sad thing is metroid would translate to a movie better than the big nintendo franchises would.
