S1 just has a lot of setup to it, but I think the payoff is worth it. I’ll also say, I think Decode is an instance of an anime adaptation being way better than the manga. I fell off on it but I started reading a fan translation and while there were story beats that were similar, the plot was wildly different. It was okay, but I vastly prefer the anime.

I wanted Great Pretender to have either more heart or more teeth, and it was stuck in this weird in-between where it didn't satisfy me at either end of that spectrum.

I thought it was funny how the show made a point to say they'd exhausted their supply of English and for everyone's sanity they were switching back to Japanese. That was a good joke, but I was still overall eh on the series.
