Yeah I think Punk will absolutely keep his mouth shut this time, only to be betrayed by his body again. Yes, the potential for hilarity is high but I think Punk recognizes this is his probably his only real shot at a major payday left. He'll play the good soldier better than he ever has. It's just he's old now and he's gonna hurt himself again. If I'm wrong though,

He's always had the dark circles under his eyes, but when you have a weird haircut and a beard with a bunch of gray/white in it, you're going to look older. In seriousness a Punk vs. Austin match would be huge and there's enough of a part of me that wants to see it so if they bring him in to do that, sure, that's cool. Punk vs. Rollins makes a lot of sense to book to as well. Otherwise, I'm just in general not as interested to see what he does there if just because WWE showed me point blank with the EC/Mania Night 2 one-two-punch that the moment anyone gets interesting they'll hammer them into place to make sure they don't get bigger than the brand. So, yeah, I just want funny poo poo at this point

If the latest reports are true re: the guys in the main event learning about Punk just before they headed to the ring, then I feel like there's a reasonable chance that Seth's initial reaction in the cage was legit and he then decided to amp it up for the cameras and do the double middle fingers and 'hold me back Cole!'. Easy enough to hear "Punk is making a surprise return to cap off the PPV" and temporarily suppress the real reaction while focusing on the tangible thing in front of you, the wrestling match. Harder to keep it all inside when Cult of Personality hits and the schmuck you dislike gets the biggest pop of the night. Anyways, thank you thread posters for bringing the latest drama and rumors and creating lotsa laughs.

IIRC, in a different interview, Seth said something to the effect of how Punk had very helpful to him earlier in his career, but had changed and become more distant by the time they were in WWE together. I believe Corey Graves also said something similar, that when Punk quit WWE, he basically cut off most of the friendships he had with people that still worked there.

Doing a worked shoot thing with Seth Rollins "Getting angry" is a really good idea. Both Seth and Punk are known for their senses of humor and ability to have others point out their flaws and insecurities, and basing a storyline around this will definitely not lead to either of those confident and secure men losing their goddamn minds.
