 : Defeat BalfrogHadn't played Cave Story since it was first translated. I remember the general story but forgot about things like the Balfrog fight.

 : Defeat Binbou-gami : Fly on Great Kohryu : Fuse a Fiendfusing a fiend was a pain in the butt. the fusion system in general is neat, though I wish you could choose which skills were inherited instead of having to pick the fusion over and over until you randomly get the ones you want really enjoying the story of the game; the usage of the '20s-era slang is very fun. just finished ch 5 and I was hovering on the Lawful side of Neutral all through the game up to this point, and landed solidly in Chaos right at the end of that chapter. the semi-fourth wall break where the metanarrator character changes and tells you as a player to stop taking on the role of Raidou if you don't want to fall into despair is handled in a very cool way within the conceit of the story and has genuinely given me pause considering how the story has been so far. looking forward to seeing how this all continues

I turned the remastered music on for a few minutes messing around in the other modes in cave story+ and I recommend swapping that to original lol. I think the updated graphics are worse too but less so

The new music is bad (to varying degrees depending on which new ost you're talking about), the new graphics are eh, the new translation has a few good decisions but loses way too much charm. The choice is clear: play the original.
