Cyberpunk 2.0 / Phantom Liberty are just SO good. I feel a lot of joy that they were able to fix the game and make the actual masterpiece it always should have been.

Night City is the gold standard for video game cities now, if you’re making a game where someone exists in a city, that’s what you have to live up to.

Hoping to pickup Phantom Liberty sometime later in the year when it goes on sale, then finally getting around to playing Cyberpunk Frame-gen mods being made to work on older nvidia cards should help boost the experience https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/738?tab=files

I though 2077 was a good game even at launch, so I definitely need to find time to pick up Phantom Liberty and do it again.

The only reason I've hesitated to get Cyberpunk is that what I've heard of the main story is really cynical and depressing and I much prefer 'the world sucks but people don't necessarily' stories about hope. If there's more of that than I thought then the game is definitely back on my list.

Hell, I still fire up Contact With You just to vibe with while I'm working. Ineffiable posted:taken one of their oldest franchises and finally created a new modern entry (their last one was from 2013!). And oh boy, this plays amazingly well and has even more fun bosses and looks great and the environments are a wonder to behold Jezza of OZPOS posted:i didnt really expect to love this, ive never been a mech games guy and it was super punishing trying to figure out which weapons worked best for me but once the game opened up to me it felt like building a mech was a creative exercise in its own right. WaltherFeng posted:brings back the series with the polish it deserves. Lisztless posted:It is a master class in action gameplay. It shows, again and again, to the dismay of myriad middling pretenders, why Fromsoft is unparalleled in their field. Ibblebibble posted:The pulsing of the Coral engine. The whining of the boosters. The G-forces pulling at you as you quickboost to avoid a laser beam. You can pretty much feel it all as you play, tearing a trail across Rubicon’s skies. Paying2Lurk posted:Every time I sit down to play this game I get genuinely excited. I've played through NG and NG+ and am currently about halfway through NG++, and I don't want to stop. I love everything about this game. It is maybe the most "video game" video game I have ever played in my four decades of video gaming. ZenMasterBullshit posted:I had a little nagging worry that this would come out and not be what I've been needing from Fromsoft all these years. And I was a loving moron for worrying. This game does everything it needs to and more. It's slick, it runs like a dream, the writing and characters are among the best the franchise has ever seen and the writers haven't lost a single step writing the cyber-punk PMC nightmare world. Boy of Joy posted:Combined with the mission structure and the alternate branching paths of several cycles of NG+, I was blown away that a mech shooting game could be so engrossing story and character-wise. Resonance22 posted:cool as gently caress and probably way more approachable than you might think. Everything about it is excellent, but what I think I enjoy most is the flexibility to try out different builds and spec out a mech for the situation at hand BeanpolePeckerwood posted:So many beats are perfect, the art direction, the endless gun porn of unnecessarily complex reload animations, the weight and scale and speed of your monster, the anger of metal foot on metal face, the bleak cynicism of the world around you, and the flexibility of the featureset at your disposal to tinker with. King of Solomon posted:The game has three endings and it expects you to play through the game from front to back three times to get the final one, and not only did I do that without a second though, I’ve recently found myself considering doing it again. Armored Core is back, and I couldn’t be happier. 03. Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon (FromSoftware) (2023) 442 points. Voted for 60 times. Appeared #1 eleven times. Average of 7.4 FromSoftware appearing in the top three for their second year in a row! Can Shadows of the Erdtree catapault Elden Ring into the top three for 2024? I suspect they can... Well two games to go and all of you know which two this is a struggle between. One of them highly anticipated and the other a full release. Only one can be the GOTY, whereas the other is next up...

Most of the cynicism is just window dressing, but the human connections you make in the game are wonderful.

I dunno, it is subjective but uh.....there are a lot of batshit crazy things NPCs do in that game when you solve quests.... There are some more hopeful storylines but there are also some very nihilistic ones.

The Cyberpunk RPG creator Mike Pondsmith said it best: "You can't save the world, but maybe you can save yourself." Lot of cool people in the game.

There are good people in Night City and a lot of the game is about your relationship with them.

Armoured Core VI rules, dude. Such a blast to play. I’m so glad I decided to pick it up despite generally not being into mech games or liking what I’ve heard about the previous entries. I’m so glad it made it this high, I really didn’t think it would after the first few days of polls but then it just kept showing up!!!

One of the core themes about Cyberpunk (Pondsmith's game, not necessarily in general) it that you're a small fry who can't make the world better. You can, and should, make a difference at a small scale - friends, family, and other loved ones. And those smaller relationships shine in CP2077.
