Ideally they should release a boxset containing what Vidal wanted, what Brass wanted, and what the studio wanted all as individual cuts rather than trying to say ‘this one version is the correct one’. I believe this particular version is the one favored by Vidal, and Brass wants nothing to do with it.

I'm still not sure how much the Best Buy thing will effect my overall habits. Up to this point my collection has been built on 90% cruising by Best Buy on my way home from work mixed with like 10% of the more expensive boutique labels as a once-in-a-while exception. My guess is that I'll just become more discerning and my spending over time will go down because those instant gratification purchases won't be there, but who knows.

Best Buy quitting physical media probably won’t change my buying habits much. It was the most hassle free way of getting steelbooks if you jumped on them right away. So I’ll miss that.

Sure, Tank Girl and Masters of the Universe aren't great movies (though Tank Girl does have the bonus of at least being somewhat interesting aesthetically), but the dreck being released means sometimes my dreck gets a cool release, like Super Mario Bros. 1993. And if Final Fantasy Advent Children can get a 4K UHD, so can Tekken Blood Vengeance, surely!

I had been debating on picking up the OOP Shout Factory Tank Girl disc for the past few months. Almost bought one for $65 but changed my mind because I found myself wondering why I was going to spend $65 for Tank Girl. Even with Ice-T as a Kangaroo that's an impossibly expensive price. Awesome decision on my part, that Umbrella disc looks like a much better package than Shout's. Will be grabbing that Masters of the Universe disc as well. I already have the Arrow edition of Coffy but I might grab that one as Coffy is my favorite Pam Grier movie.

My 5-disc 4k+Blu set of The Exorcist arrived earlier today. From the outside, the packaging is gorgeous. However, the 5 discs are placed in a steelbook case with the discs stacked on top of each other on the little spindles inside. Plus one of the discs came loose at some stage, but luckily, there doesn't appear to be any damage. gently caress's sake.

Shout's April slate: The Faculty 4K Rolling Thunder 4K Lost in Space (1998) Collector's Edition Blu Affliction Blu So far, that's Shout, Kino, Vinegar Syndrome, and Criterion getting Miramax titles licensed from Paramount for 4K. (Worth noting that Rolling Thunder is from MGM, Lost in Space is from Warner, and Affliction is another Largo Entertainment license like Point Break and Dr. Giggles).
