Yeah. I get why people have trouble with the idea of cooking or bartending for free when you account for the modern US ideal of "Service Work." In our environment "Service Work" is that outside of the terrible conditions and long hours you have entire generations of people that eat out specifically to abuse you. The wages are literally the lowest for any legal labor that exists due to tipping culture which is the weapon these psychopaths use to poo poo all over you because you are forced to be nice so you aren't homeless. The companies you work this miserable slog for are machines that grind you down through cutting costs, manpower, salaries, ingredients or whatever else they can to save anything they can. This makes the quality worse and the populace you are forced to serve more angry. This makes the quantity of work you are doing constantly increase. Oh and as the outside material conditions of the economy deteriorating are turning the public into nutjobs who could do anything when you charge them $138 for the worlds worst microwaved dinner for 2. Compared to You have no obligation to do anything. You can do anything. There is nowhere you have to be or nothing you have to do. You can go mix drinks together for people and chat in a casual social setting that has no concept of exchange or currency. Part of the allure is actually doing the job, ironically. You don't have to flip the shaker over your shoulder or get drinks out to anyone fast but you are interesting if you do and you have more social credit. Also they do like one dinner service, occasionally.

Even if these cases were able to be carried out before the election most of them would have no impact on the election. Most of these cases are just financial penalties. The one Jack Smith is trying to charge that could go forward without the immunity is a direct attack on free speech that would have to give Trump what he wants with an investigation into the results of the 2020 election. There was a non-zero amount of nationwide complaints about the 2020 election that were never investigated so as to not question Biden's victory and now we are charging Trump saying there were no issues with the election. The sentiment on that is drastically different now. Fulton County, Georgia has had election board meetings recently where they outright admit votes were double counted and chains of custody were violated and paper ballots for some votes can't be verified. That may not be important and could be presented incorrectly but it exists and requires legal review and is now very relevant to Jack Smith's case. Trump not getting immunity means that kind of poo poo gets dragged out for months in court to decide whether or not his claims were true before moving on to the whole problem of the fact he has a constitutional right to make them.
