People in the diaspora with a tech-related background who want to donate their expertise are encouraged to fill out the Maria Tech Recovery Effort form. This form is being managed by a group organizing through Startups of Puerto Rico who will work to connect key people on the ground in PR with the best talent in the diaspora. In order to partner effectively, they are using the form to create an “inventory” of talent that can be leveraged to help stand up services and share resources.

How the Clock-Drawing Test Is Administered

The clinician (often a doctor, psychologist, or social worker) gives the person being tested a piece of paper with a pre-drawn circle on it and asks him to draw the numbers on the clock.

She then tells him to draw the hands to show a specific time. There are several different times that people who administer this test may use, but many choose 10 minutes after 11.

Additional research identified six features in this test that were important in successfully identifying problems in cognition. These were described as critical clock-drawing errors and included the wrong time, no hands, missing numbers, number substitutions, repetition, and refusal. These researchers concluded that these six errors were predictive in identifying dementia based on the clock-drawing test. Notice that simply refusing to complete the test can be indicative of a problem.

When articles talk about "economic anxiety" as a predictor of voting behavior in Trump supporters, the measures used were not measures of how poor voters were, or of how at-risk they were. They were measures of how much voters were worried that someone else would get their money. These concerns had no bearing on their actual income or status. The poorer people were, the more likely they were to vote Democratic. The "working class" Trump supporters aren't the main group of people who get hurt or die in the time ahead.

Have you watched The Mask You Live In yet? It's a great documentary about this exact subject and it's available on Netflix!

You know what else I like that talks about boys and their relationship to masculinity and how to be a good role model so that boys feel confident, safe, and happy in relation to their masculinity?

I don't actually read it that often because it turns out I don't actually care about kids that much, but it sounds like something you might be really interested in! Have you tried volunteering for things like Big Brothers Big Sisters? That's a good way to try and model good behavior and help kids grow up happy and supported too!

I'm so glad you care about dismantling the harmful expectations put on young men as they grow up, and about providing them with ample examples of how men can express their masculinity in ways that are healthy and honest.

But really, it's a good documentary and it really is on Netflix.
