for years, hell for pairs of years, scientists who have gone to "universities" have forever been mystified as to the purposes of brain cortical folding, also referred to gyrofication (named after the structural similarities between the human brain and the folding of sliced meat and pita bread in the gyro greek sandwich pictured below):![]() Did i trick you? Because that is actually a picture of a gyro greek sandwich positioned as if it were a brain. There is also a name for the inward folds of the cortex in humans, called sulkification, named because we mentally drive the bad sulking feelings of humans deep into these folds where they are tougher to see when people look at our brains ![]() Interestingly, some mammals like rats have no brain folding, presumably because they do not understand greek culture or sulk, whereas others like dolphins and elephants, have many more, owing to their bigger stomachs i guess. today we will settle this neuroscience mystery by telling the scientific community our theories on why the brain is wrinkly i will forward ur theories to joe rogan and elon musck and neil degrass |

i myself am a proponent that the folds help catch both pita bread crumbs and offer "flavour pockets" as first posited by guy fieri where his Carolina #6 Mop and Slop barbecue sauce will pool

I am also doing some preliminary work for a grant application to posit that the brain evolved wrinkles for the textural advantages of selling stress balls shaped like brains, which would be wildly less interesting to hold if smooth![]()

brain wrinkles exist to serve as sound dampening for the cracking and pinging that goes on in every normal brain all the time in response to ideas and thoughts bouncing around inside the skull, most people cannot hear the cracks or the pings because they have so many brain wrinkles that the noise is almost entirely absorbed but some people have very smooth brains and its like pinball ---------------- |

at wrinklecon, i saw a keynote that said the wrinkles don't actually exist but are a creative liberty taken by brain artists because they got tired of their moms thinking they were making patreon money drawing cartoon butts![]()

OP i'll let you in on a secret. some brains are smooth because they've been picked out by the Ultraterrestrials to serve as bowling balls for the UBL (ultraterrestrial bowling league). This is serious science!!! I try to post my theories but I've been called a smoothie conspiracy theorist and laughed out of most academic conferences. yyou can read about the TRUTH in my self-published novel. It's on the kindle marketplace. thanks and god bless.

other reasons your brain may be smooth: 1. it was eaten by the psychic sasquatch from 1972's Horror Express, starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee and featuring Telly Savalas as 'Captain Kazan' ---------------- |

just finished some experiments int he women's section of the jc penny and if my reasoning is correct the cerebral cortex is not a layer of neural tissue but instead a layer of melted monterey jack/mild cheddar mix that is used to hold all of the individual nachos comprising the brain proper into 1 connected whole
