ADTRWiki ADTRWIKI.com is an open-source collaborative effort between all members of SA who have maybe at some point in the past enjoyed a show about anime and think that other people might enjoy it too. If someone's looking for a good show and don't perhaps know exactly what they're looking for, this is the place to browse. It's a repository of the good shows we've watched over the years and has opinions, links where you can find more information, and opinions of SA members of the shows they've watched. Notes

XboxPants posted:I'm there as... you guessed it... XboxPants. I made a Haibane Renmei entry as a quick test, and noticed: 1. "Licensed" is spelled wrong in the info box. 2. We should add a field for "Format," stating whether the entry is an Anime(TV/OVA/Movie) or Manga. 3. Is current status referring to whether the show is licensed, or whether it's finished? 4. Maybe, for manga, we should change the "Number of Episodes" to "Number of Episodes/Volumes:" That way either format has an option. "Episode Length" would just be set to "N/A" for Manga. 5. Eventually we should set up an index that shows all of the entries entered thus far. Nate RFB fucked around with this message at 19:25 on Jan 15, 2007 |

Is there any clean way to list multiple opening/ending songs? I'm attempting a Honey & Clover entry which has 5 songs total and it looks like hell. Even worse, think of a series like Bleach that has upwards of a dozen or more. Maybe Op/Eds should be in the body instead of the info box.

VVV You've got a point there. I think we should keep episode length/# of episodes and the company/director that made them at least because that gives a general idea of how long the series is and the creators because everyone likes that kind of thing. Should we keep those four and get rid of the others? Pierson fucked around with this message at 20:29 on Jan 15, 2007 |

Nate RFB posted:To be honest, I wonder if we even need to have them listed. Afterall, if you're interested in pieces of info like that then ANN would be a better source probably. The purpose of the wiki is more to just get a show's name out there as a recommendation, rather than provide on random info bits into the show. I wonder if, in that sense, we need list stuff like "Director" since that too may have multiple entries. Maybe this can be a case by case basis - when there's a director who's pretty much doing the whole show, like Satoshi Kon or Miyazaki, then you would list a director, but if it's Naruto or something where there's a random director for every episode, that's not very important, and you don't list any director information. Also, "format" doesn't need to say "anime/manga" on the final page, that's redundant; same thing for "status".

Edit: no, it appears I'm dead wrong. You can add new fields to the infobox template but you can't not show ones currently there. Oh well. Nate, take a look at the page. If you don't have a problem with it shall we use that as the standard template so we can stop messing around with layouts? Basically eveything that isn't the short synopsis (i.e. music, character bios, website links etc) can go into sub-headings under Main Description as the writer feels the need to add them, and the infobox kept to the bare minimum of info?

Everyone who has registered thus far is approved. You guys can start making entires, using the Haibane page as a template. Unless there are any comments/suggestions over the look for it. Otherwise, just search for whatever page you want to make, and when it doesn't find it click on "Create page." Next step is finding a way to index the entries.

Do I need to know a lot of Wikipedia poo poo to contribute to this? I can work with the 'fill in the blank' template, but I've never contributed to Wikipedia aside from some very minor text entry, vandalism reversal, and typo correcting. I know this makes me a minority who is very NOT Web 2.0, but what can I say...

I've now created my first entry. One suggestion I have to make however is that we add a few links at the bottom of each article in order to make it easier for someone that's interested in a series to look up more information about it.

How do we want to categorize articles? I'm guessing the best method would be by genre since that's what most people are going to care about, but maybe also by director and stuff might be a good idea.

Interesting. If you type in "Yu-Gi-Oh" it will take you to the correct page. If you type in "yu gi oh" it returns nothing. How hard is it to add closest matches to the search results? Also, do we have redirects working? We can't even agree on an official thread title for Haruhi... Last thing: does anyone think it would be a good idea to have a players/codec page? It might be an easy way to keep everyone current. Embedded_Image fucked around with this message at 04:23 on Jan 16, 2007 |
