I don't think it's much related to the original Prey game, so no space vagina doors (so bizarre). E - from the Wiki: quote:Bethesda's vice president of marketing Pete Hines explained that the new game has no elements from the cancelled Prey 2 outside of the player facing against aliens. Hines explained that Arkane evaluated the Prey property to its core and built up a new game around it, calling it more a psychological game rather than a horror one. What stokes me about it the most is how Arkane did such a good job of adding replayability to Dishonored 1 / 2, and a unique aesthetic, that in a 1960's inspired space station could be a trip. Dishonored 1 suffered from feeling too much like too many different source materials: there was a little it of Half Life 2, but not enough; there was a goodly amount of Thief, but the game didn't really ever feel like it justified Corvo robbing every house he's infiltrating blind; the implicit challenge of non-fatal runs also cuts you off from a majority of your abilities and weapons, which sort of makes it feel like you have to make a moral choice to play the game the "fun" way. Prey looks like it's much more its own beast, and I think that unrestrained from previous models, this game will really showcase the developers' talents and present some true new ideas.

I can't wait for Prey from Arcane Studios the same way like I can't wait for Cyberpunk 2077 from CRPROJEKT if that makes sense. Basically I have total trust in what they can pull off while it's great to see them venture into a completely different setting.

I was kinda disappointed with Dishonored 2, so I think I'll give it a little while to see where the dust settles before buying. And while part of me is still sad I won't get my Space Bounty Hunter on in Prey 2, some of the names like Avellone and Gordon are enough to have me curious about it.

I have only very vague recollections of the original Prey, but I do remember being astounded by it, particularly all the warped space and gravity tricks that were novel. It's a little strange that it's a totally new setting, but they did the same thing with Quake 1/2 and both were perfectly good games. Plus, the strength of the Prey name alone and association with DH2 will pull me in.

Mimic and Phantom shift look cool as. They seem like a solid set to me, shame there isn't a DH2 style domino. Powers can interact with each other, like mimicking something, and using blast to fire yourself upwards for greater mobility. That's kind of neat. Haven't seen any mention of passive buffs, like DH bonecharms. E- suit upgrades provide buffs GRINDCORE MEGGIDO fucked around with this message at 06:10 on May 5, 2017 |

Absolutely loved Dishonored 1+2 so I have total faith this game will own, it looks marvelous. Looks like the spiritual progeny of stuff like System Shock and Dead Space, maybe even Half-Life with the physics and weird powers at play (and GLOO gun.) That eye-device freaks me out so much, I loving hated that one eye "moment" in Dead Space 2. My only wish is that they have their console and PC ports on lock and don't have to make fixes for a month like Dishonored 2, which wasn't perfectly optimized out the gate.
