Well teams have gotten bowl eligible again which means it's time for me to stop ironically shitposting in D&D and start seriously shitposting in TFF :toot:

Biggest change from last year is that the Poinsettia Bowl flat out no longer exists, so we've gone from needing 80 teams down to 78. The Miami Beach Bowl did not please the Dinger Machine enough so it's been banished to Frisco, Texas, and the St. Petersburg Bowl is now the BAD BOY MOWERS GASPARILLA BOWL. I don't know what a gasparilla is other than probably a flower, and yes the irony of a mower company sponsoring a bowl that's at an indoor baseball stadium on the worst artificial turf around is not lost on anyone.

I'll do my best to keep the OP with who's eligible/ineligible and I'll post my predictions/picks every Sunday. Feel free to post along and be just as wrong as everyone else as rules and contracts are bought out and ignored, making the whole process a loving cattle call that somehow ends up favoring BYU and BYU alone.

ATLANTIC
pre:
Clemson (4-0, 6-0) @CUSE, GT, @NCST, FSU, citadel, @SC (8-0, 12-0)
NC State (3-0, 5-1) @PITT, @ND, CLEM, @BC, @WAKE, UNC (7-1, 9-3)
Syracuse (1-1, 3-3) CLEM, @U, @FSU, WAKE, LOU, BC (2-6, 4-8)
Florida State (1-2, 1-3) @DUKE, LOU, @BC, CUSE, @CLEM, delawarest, @UF (5-3, 6-5)
Louisville (1-2, 4-2) BC, @FSU, @WAKE, UVA, CUSE, @UK (5-3, 8-4)
Wake Forest (1-2, 4-2) @GT, LOU, @ND, @CUSE, NCST, DUKE (2-6, 5-7)
Boston College (0-3, 3-3) @LOU, @UVA, FSU, NCST, UCONN, @CUSE (0-8, 4-8)
Thanks to FSU being annihilated by Bama and Louisville dropping off from last year, the division is Clemson’s to lose, if not the whole conference. The last real hurdle is going to Raleigh to face NC State, but I don’t think State’s going to get all three of the projected division powers. I think FSU rebounds to make a bowl, but with trips to Clemson and Florida there’s not a huge margin for error. Wake’s chances probably come down to Duke at the end, and this has gotten be it for Steve Addazio, right?

pre:
Miami (2-0, 4-0) GT, CUSE, @UNC, VT, ND, UVA, @PITT (6-2, 8-3)
Georgia Tech (2-0, 3-1) @U, WAKE, @CLEM, @UVA, VT, @DUKE, UGA (6-2, 7-4)
Virginia (1-0, 4-1) @UNC, BC, @PITT, GT, @LOU, @U, VT (4-4, 7-5)
Virginia Tech (1-1, 5-1) UNC, DUKE, @U, @GT, PITT, @UVA (7-1, 11-1)
Duke (1-2, 4-2) FSU, PITT, @VT, @ARMY, GT, @WAKE (3-5, 7-5)
Pitt (0-2, 2-4) NCST, @DUKE, UVA, UNC, @VT, U (1-7, 3-9)
North Carolina (0-3, 1-5) UVA, @VT, U, @PITT, wcu, @NCST (0-8, 2-10)
I want to bet on Miami running the table. I want to be it so loving hard but I think the Jackets get them this week and they lose to Hokie at home, meaning VT runs the table again and earns the right to take another beating at the hands of Clemson. UVA’s got three winnable games to get two and they could be 7-1 and possibly ranked before their last four games bring them back to earth. Pitt is hapless and I guess UNC football’s serving the probation that basketball so richly deserves.

pre:
Notre Dame (5-1) USC, NCST, WAKE, @U, NAVY, @STAN (10-2)
Again, for newcomers I place Notre Dame here, as they have access to the ACC’s bowl package in exchange for playing 5 ACC members a season. Also don’t look now, but 5 of their last 6 opponents are ranked and none are juggernauts. I think they take care of their ACC schedule and split with their Pac-12 foes, once again going into Stanford at 10-1 and with playoff hopes, before settling for 10-2 and an Orange Bowl bid. But if they run the table and Georgia doesn’t gently caress up royally, 11-1 Notre Dame has a playoff argument. 4-8 seems such a long time ago...

ACC Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 10: Clemson, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, NC State, Miami, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Duke, Florida State

BIG TEN

EAST
pre:
Penn State (3-0, 6-0) MICH, @OSU, @MSU, RUT, NEB, @MARY (8-1, 11-1)
Ohio State (3-0, 5-1) @NEB, PSU, @IOWA, MSU, ILL, @MICH (9-0, 11-1)
Michigan State (2-0, 4-1) @MINN, IND, @NW, PSU, @OSU, MARY, @RUT (7-2, 9-3)
Michigan (1-1, 4-1) @IND, @PSU, RUT, MINN, @MARY, @WIS, OSU (5-4, 8-4)
Maryland (1-1, 3-2) NW, @WIS, IND, RUT, MICH, @MSU, PSU (4-5, 6-6)
Indiana (0-2, 3-2) MICH, @MSU, @MARY, WIS, @ILL, RUT, PUR (2-7, 5-7)
Rutgers (0-2, 1-4) @ILL, PUR, @MICH, MARY, @PSU, @IND, MSU (0-9, 1-11)
The gauntlet for Penn State is in the next three games, and sad to say I don’t think they escape Columbus undefeated. That’s also the last real threat for Ohio State on the schedule and unless Sparty can get them again, it’ll be a one-loss Ohio State destined for the playoff again. Meanwhile, Michigan goes 8-4 and the rumblings that Jim Harbaugh can’t get the job done start to get some volume to them. Maryland squeaks in, Indiana falls to Purdue at the end, and I know Chris Ash has his work cut out for him at Rutgers but he’s gonna have to show something next year.

WEST
pre:
Wisconsin (2-0, 5-0) PUR, MARY, @ILL, @IND, IOWA, MICH, @MINN (9-0, 12-0)
Nebraska (2-1, 3-3) OSU, @PUR, NW, @MINN, @PSU, IOWA (5-4, 5-7)
Purdue (1-1, 3-2) @WIS, @RUT, NEB, ILL, @NW, @IOWA, IND (5-4, 8-4)
Iowa (1-2, 4-2) @NW, MINN, OSU, @WIS, PUR, @NEB (5-4, 8-4)
Minnesota (0-2, 3-2) MSU, ILL, @IOWA, @MICH, NEB, @NW, WIS (3-6, 6-6)
Illinois (0-2, 2-3) RUT, @MINN, WIS, @PUR, IND, @OSU, NW (1-8, 3-9)
Northwestern (0-2, 2-3) @MARY, IOWA, MSU, @NEB, PUR, MINN, @ILL (1-8, 3-9)
Wisconsin’s division to lose. The rest of the schedule is very manageable and their two toughest foes come at home. Nebraska’s loss to NIU is enough to keep them from bowling and cost Mike Riley his job. I’m probably more bullish on Jeff Brohm than I should be and 8-4 might be a little too ambitious for Purdue, but I think they’re a bowl team. Minnesota squeaks in, Illinois and Northwestern don’t. It’s a down year for Pat Fitzgerald and perhaps a commendation for Lovie Smith that the game has passed him by.

Big Ten Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 9: Wisconsin, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State, Michigan, Iowa, Purdue, Minnesota, Maryland

Big 12

pre:
TCU (2-0, 5-0) KSU, KU, @ISU, TEX, @OU, @TTU, BAY (8-1, 11-1)
Texas (2-0, 3-2) vOU, OKST, @BAY, @TCU, KU, @WVU, TTU (4-5, 6-6)
Oklahoma State (1-1, 4-1) BAY, @TEX, @WVU, OU, @ISU, KSU, KU (7-2, 10-2)
Iowa State (1-1, 3-2) KU, @TTU, TCU, @WVU, OKST, @BAY, @KSU (3-6, 5-6)
Oklahoma (1-1, 4-1) vTEX, @KSU, TTU, @OKST, TCU, @KU, WVU (8-1, 11-1)
Texas Tech (1-1, 4-1) @WVU, ISU, @OU, KSU, vBAY, TCU, @TEX (3-6, 6-6)
Kansas State (1-1, 3-2) TCU, OU, @KU, @TTU, WVU, @OKST, ISU (4-5, 6-6)
West Virginia (1-1, 3-2) TTU, @BAY, OKST, ISU, @KSU, TEX, @OU (6-3, 8-4)
Kansas (0-2, 1-4) @ISU, @TCU, KSU, BAY, @TEX, OU, @OKST (0-9, 1-11)
Baylor (0-2, 0-5) @OKST, WVU, TEX, @KU, TTU, ISU, @TCU (1-8, 1-11)
Despite falling victim to Ames Magic, I think the Sooners run the rest of the table, which means beating TCU in Norman and setting up a rematch in the Big 12 title game. Traditionally that game’s been a disaster for the team with championship hopes but two 11-1 teams with good losses means the conference should be fine regardless of who comes out on top. Texas just barely gets into a bowl, same with Texas Tech which should be enough to buy Koach Kliffy K another year, and as much as I’d like to call Baylor going winless Kansas football still exists.

Big 12 Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 7: Oklahoma, TCU, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, Texas, Texas Tech, Kansas State

PAC-12

NORTH
pre:
Washington (3-0, 6-0) @ASU, UCLA, ORE, @STAN, UTAH, WSU (9-0, 12-0)
Washington State (3-0, 6-0) @CAL, COL, @ZONA, STAN, @UTAH, @WASH (7-2, 10-2)
Stanford (3-1, 4-2) ORE, @ORST, @WSU, WASH, CAL, ND (7-2, 9-3)
Oregon (1-2, 4-2) @STAN, @UCLA, UTAH, @WASH, ZONA, ORST (4-5, 7-5)
Cal (0-3, 3-3) WSU, ZONA, @COL, ORST, @STAN, @UCLA (2-7, 5-7)
Oregon State (0-3, 1-5) COL, STAN, @CAL, @ZONA, ASU, @ORE (0-9, 1-11)
I want 11-0 Washington vs. 11-10 Washington State as much as humanly possible. But Stanford is looming and is going to get at least one of them, probably Wazzu, and I wouldn’t put it past Stanford to get them both and somehow backdoor their way to another North crown. Oregon’s got enough to go bowling again, Cal needs a bit of luck (or a UCLA team that’s quit on their coach) and Gary Anderson’s overmatched at Oregon State.

SOUTH
pre:
USC (3-1, 5-1) UTAH, @ND, @ASU, ZONA, @COL, UCLA (8-1, 10-2)
Utah (1-1, 4-1) @USC, ASU, @ORE, UCLA, WSU, @WASH, COL (5-4, 8-4)
Arizona (1-1, 3-2) UCLA, @CAL, WSU, @USC, ORST, @ORE, @ASU (2-7, 4-8)
UCLA (1-1, 3-2) @ZONA, ORE, @WASH, @UTAH, ASU, @USC, CAL (4-5, 6-6)
Arizona State (1-1, 2-3) WASH, @UTAH, USC, COL, @UCLA, @ORST, ZONA (3-6, 4-8)
Colorado (0-3, 3-3) @ORST, @WSU, CAL, @ASU, USC, @UTAH (2-7, 5-7)
USC should run away with this division if they take care of business against Utah, but Notre Dame will kill their playoff hopes. Everyone is varying degrees of mediocre to bad, Utah shouldn’t have any issues getting in, UCLA/Cal is a bowl eliminator, the Arizonas should be looking for new coaching and Colorado’s rise appears to be a temporary one.

Pac-12 Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 7: Washington, Washington State, USC, Stanford, Utah, Oregon, UCLA

EAST
pre:
Georgia (3-0, 6-0) MIZ, vUF, SC, @AUB, UK, @GT (6-2, 10-2)
Florida (3-1, 3-2) A&M, vUGA, @MIZ, @SC, UAB, FSU (6-2, 8-3)
Kentucky (2-1, 5-1) @MSST, TENN, MISS, @VAN, @UGA, LOU (5-3, 9-3)
South Carolina (2-2, 4-2) @TENN, VAN, @UGA, UF, wof, CLEM (4-4, 7-5)
Tennessee (0-2, 3-2) SC, @BAMA, @UK, USM, @MIZ, LSU, VAN (0-8, 4-8)
Vanderbilt (0-3, 3-3) @MISS, @SC, WKU, UK, MIZZ, @TENN (3-5, 7-5)
Missouri (0-3, 1-4) @UGA, IDAHO, @UCONN, UF, TENN, @VAN, @ARK (2-6, 5-7)
We all know Florida’s gonna beat Georgia in three weeks, just because that’s the way life works. Count in Georgia losing at Auburn and despite Florida losing to A&M, it’ll be enough to give Florida a third straight East title, much to the chagrin of both their fan bases. I’m even gutsy enough to call Florida over FSU this year but that game’s gonna be a mess this year. What Tennessee does this week against a beatable South Carolina team will determine their season, my money is on they lose and they quit on Butch, losing the rest of the way except to Southern Miss and even that’s not a guarantee. It’ll also help Vandy get in despite the Dores lifting their anchor too close to the sun and it’ll help Mizzou rally at the end of the year, which might encourage them to keep Barry Odom and repeat this whole cycle again.

Bama won’t be threatened until the Iron Bowl at the end of the year. If Auburn beats Georgia, it should be enough to get them to a NY6 bowl. Gonna be real interesting what happens with A&M; they didn’t get embarrassed by Bama and only Auburn looms on the schedule. If Aggie keeps it close with Auburn and goes 9-3, is that enough to keep Sumlin around or are they pissed off enough at him to dump Sumlin no matter what? #CLANGA gets in, Arkansas falls apart under the weight of their head coach and his massive buyout, and look for the Arky AD to be announced as Nebraska’s AD before the end of the month.

I think UCF trips up USF at the end of the year to propel Scott Frost to a bigger job, though USF still wins the division. I wasn’t overly impressed with what I saw from USF, just sloppy play, and losing a game from the schedule due to Irma will help keep them from a NY6 bowl. After that Temple’s not great but better than the bottom three and that should be enough to get them to a bowl.

Losses against Memphis and Notre Dame should keep Navy’s BY6 dreams drydocked for another season, and the Memphis loss should give the Tigers the division and Mike Norvell a chance to join the SEC meatgrinder, possibly across the state. Chad Morris getting SMU to a bowl might send him upward, especially if A&M pulls the trigger on Sumlin. Given Houston’s insane expectations watch them make noise about firing Major Applewhite before coming to reason. For now.

In all seriousness I don’t have a read on C-USA at all, I guess I’m betting on Marshall even though they were bad last year, I guess it could have just been an aberration. Army’s got three winnable games to get two, though I think they get swept by the other two academies. BYU’s not good and they’ll be 1-6 next week, but that back half of that schedule is tissue-paper soft and the potential for a run in there. However, BYU has no bowl tie-in for this year which means an eligible BYU is hoping a major conference can’t fill their bids and they can backdoor their way to a decent bowl. UMass needs to think long and hard about dropping to FCS, I’m not even giving them a win over FCS Maine. Black Bears, bitches!

I hate this division. Ohio’s the only competent team and I end up buying them practically by default. Akron’s out to an early lead again but they’ll do something about that soon enough. Bowling Green is real bad and their only win is due to God hating Miami Ohio; I really hope that loss doesn’t keep the Redhawks from bowling. 5-7 should keep Lance Leipold employed for another year, if only because who else are they gonna get?

The former Boatrowers have taken an obvious step back, but PJ Fleck should have left enough on the shelf to give the Broncos another West title. I feel confident in saying that some combination of App/Troy/Arkansas State will win the Fun Belt, since they’re the only FBS conference without a championship game, which will be rectified next season. Coastal’s only ineligible due to the transition rule, if they someone grit out another five wins they can apply for a waiver but I don’t think we’ll need to worry about it. What’s going to be interesting is that a bunch of these teams had games cancelled due to the need to reschedule conference games after the hurricanes. If these teams end up at 5-6 and we need teams I’m hoping they get a waiver but we’ll see.

Rose Bowl Jan. 1 Pasadena, Ca. #1 Alabama (SEC Champs) vs. #4 Washington (Pac-12 Champs)
We start this year’s round of projections where we ended last year. Bama and Clemson are in the weakest conferences, but are heads and shoulders above everyone else and should run their respective tables. Bama gets the nod at #1 since they’ll have to go through Auburn and Georgia, Clemson will only have a pair of wins over Virginia Tech to head their resume. After that it’s Ohio State, Washington and Oklahoma to compete for two spots. Buckeyes get 3 by winning the best conference even though they lost to Oklahoma, and Washington gets in over Oklahoma with their loss being to Stanford instead of Iowa State, which sets off howls of protests from the Big 12, who have now been left out of 3 out of 4 playoffs.

Cotton Bowl Dec. 29 Arlington, Tx. At-large vs. At-large Oklahoma vs. Notre Dame
As we enter the second rotation of NY6 bowls we get the free for all year, where only the Orange Bowl has any tie-ins. Virginia Tech gets the ACC’s auto-bid and face off with an 11-1 Wisconsin team that ranks over Notre Dame, who head to the Cotton and face an angry Big 12 Champs Oklahoma. The Peach gets 11-1 Penn State, left out of the playoff again but had their fate in their own hands this time, against a 10-2 Auburn who’s losses were to playoff teams. San Diego State gets the Fiesta and meets up with Washington State in what’s hopefully a barnburner, but don’t be surprised if USC pulls the rug out from under the Cougs and gets the Fiesta themselves.

By the grace of loving god and me being the best we hit 78 teams for all 78 spots on the first loving try suck my dick. Stanford/Michigan sticks out like a sore thumb, BYU slots into a Big Ten spot to face fellow independent Army, and thanks to bowl contracts dictating teams be rotated we get poo poo like Texas/LSU in Memphis and South Carolina/West Virginia in Houston.

This is wrong, it will always be wrong, my goal is just to get poo poo going the first week teams are eligible. It’ll be less wrong going forward. Any complaints can be shoved firmly yet gently up your rear end.

Just wanna say I love this thread every year

Auburn will probably lose to Georgia though and even if they sneak into a NY6 everyone will be pissed off at Gus again. Maybe we'll catch the G5 autobid and can get to 10 just for show. Your scenario of winning and matching up with PSU would rule cause we got a home-and-home with them coming up in like '20-21.

ATLANTIC
pre:
NC State (4-0, 6-1) @ND, CLEM, @BC, @WAKE, UNC (7-1, 9-3)
Clemson (4-1, 6-1) GT, @NCST, FSU, citadel, @SC (7-1, 11-1)
Syracuse (2-1, 4-3) @U, @FSU, WAKE, LOU, BC (3-5, 5-7)
Florida State (2-2, 2-3) LOU, @BC, CUSE, @CLEM, delawarest, @UF (5-3, 6-5)
Wake Forest (1-2, 4-2) @GT, LOU, @ND, @CUSE, NCST, DUKE (2-6, 5-7)
Boston College (1-3, 4-3) @UVA, FSU, NCST, UCONN, @CUSE (1-7, 5-7)
Louisville (1-3, 4-3) @FSU, @WAKE, UVA, CUSE, @UK (4-4, 7-5)
So the Clemson loss was bad, no doubts about it. But they had a bad loss last year, at home to Pitt, which might have been an even worse loss. But the good news is that the committee has shown that they're willing to overlook one L, especially if you can argue the circumstances around it. In Clemson's case, it was a tight loss on the road in a short week where your QB came in injured and left at halftime more injured. They've got next week off to get Kelly Bryant healthy and to go from there. Raleigh looms real large now but I think State already got their home upset out of the way, plus I don't see Dabo letting his team come in not ready for that one. But back to bad news, State might be the last ranked team for Clemson before an ACCCG unless South Carolina somehow backdoors their way into the Top 25. All that being said, it's a loss that Clemson can overcome and a 12-1 ACC Champs Clemson has a strong case to make the Playoff again. But the margin for error is gone.

As for State, they somehow didn't lose a game that they usually lose against Pitt. FSU still has no margin for error just to make a bowl, and I don't know what to think about the other four teams just yet. I'm not ready to buy all-in on Cuse just yet, nor am I ready to completely sell on Louisville. But gimme another week and I might be ready. As for BC, if Addazio beats UConn and someone else and bowls again at 6-6 and keeps his job you might as well name him BC Coach For Life, and then shut down the program.

COASTAL
pre:
Miami (3-0, 5-0) CUSE, @UNC, VT, ND, UVA, @PITT (7-1, 9-2)
Virginia (2-0, 5-1) BC, @PITT, GT, @LOU, @U, VT (4-4, 7-5)
Georgia Tech (2-1, 3-2) WAKE, @CLEM, @UVA, VT, @DUKE, UGA (5-3, 6-5)
Virginia Tech (1-1, 5-1) UNC, DUKE, @U, @GT, PITT, @UVA (7-1, 11-1)
Duke (1-3, 4-3) PITT, @VT, @ARMY, GT, @WAKE (3-5, 7-5)
Pitt (0-3, 2-5) @DUKE, UVA, UNC, @VT, U (1-7, 3-9)
North Carolina (0-4, 1-6) @VT, U, @PITT, wcu, @NCST (0-8, 2-10)
Miami, by the grace of God and Uncle Luke, somehow won the trap game. That being said, VT is coming up and Miami ain't winning that one, plus it wouldn't surprise me if either Cuse or UVA got them as well. Hokie should still run the rest of their schedule and claim the Coastal and the right to put over Clemson once more. Everyone else is still on schedule to do what they do. In related news, I got a dozen degrees from UNC in the past week, let's hope that work might give me a raise off my efforts!

pre:
Notre Dame (5-1) USC, NCST, WAKE, @U, NAVY, @STAN (10-2)
The close streak goes from five ranked teams down to four, but it's still a gauntlet with State certainly not looking like a pushover and Stanford appears to have righted their ship. If Notre Dame somehow runs the table they'll deserve a Playoff spot, but I'm not thinking that's gonna happen. 10-2 puts them in a NY6 bowl, 9-3 and we're probably off to the Pinstripe or some poo poo.

ACC Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 10: Clemson, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, Miami, NC State, Virginia, Louisville, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech

BIG TEN

EAST
pre:
Ohio State (4-0, 6-1) PSU, @IOWA, MSU, ILL, @MICH (9-0, 11-1)
Penn State (3-0, 6-0) MICH, @OSU, @MSU, RUT, NEB, @MARY (8-1, 11-1)
Michigan State (3-0, 5-1) IND, @NW, PSU, @OSU, MARY, @RUT (7-2, 9-3)
Michigan (2-1, 5-1) @PSU, RUT, MINN, @MARY, @WIS, OSU (5-4, 8-4)
Maryland (1-2, 3-3) @WIS, IND, RUT, MICH, @MSU, PSU (3-6, 5-7)
Rutgers (1-2, 2-4) PUR, @MICH, MARY, @PSU, @IND, MSU (1-8, 2-10)
Indiana (0-3, 3-3) @MSU, @MARY, WIS, @ILL, RUT, PUR (2-7, 5-7)
The gauntlet starts for Penn State. Michigan shouldn't be too hard given they don't have an offense, but Buckeye and Sparty on the road might be too much to overcome. If they do, it's smooth sailing to Indy. Maryland's loss to Northwestern knocks them from bowl contention, and sweet loving Jesus Rutgers won a conference game! On the road too! That in of itself should be enough evidence to fire Lovie Smith.

WEST
pre:
Wisconsin (3-0, 6-0) MARY, @ILL, @IND, IOWA, MICH, @MINN (9-0, 12-0)
Nebraska (2-2, 3-4) @PUR, NW, @MINN, @PSU, IOWA (2-7, 3-9)
Iowa (1-2, 4-2) @NW, MINN, OSU, @WIS, PUR, @NEB (5-4, 8-4)
Purdue (1-2, 3-3) @RUT, NEB, ILL, @NW, @IOWA, IND (5-4, 8-4)
Northwestern (1-2, 3-3) IOWA, MSU, @NEB, PUR, MINN, @ILL (3-6, 5-7)
Minnesota (0-3, 3-3) ILL, @IOWA, @MICH, NEB, @NW, WIS (3-6, 6-6)
Illinois (0-3, 2-4) @MINN, WIS, @PUR, IND, @OSU, NW (0-9, 2-10)
Wisconsin is still cruising, though I don't know if I should be concerned that they only scored 17 on Purdue or be impressed at how much the Boilermakers have improved under Jeff Brohm. Meanwhile I am selling on Nebraska; I think the turmoil there is enough to break their spirit and they're gonna mail in the rest of the season. Now watch them turn around and win their next three, just to gently caress with me. Fire Lovie Smith.

Oklahoma (2-1, 5-1) @KSU, TTU, @OKST, TCU, @KU, WVU (8-1, 11-1)
Oklahoma State (2-1, 5-1) @TEX, @WVU, OU, @ISU, KSU, KU (7-2, 10-2)
Iowa State (2-1, 4-2) @TTU, TCU, @WVU, OKST, @BAY, @KSU (3-6, 5-6)
Texas (2-1, 3-3) OKST, @BAY, @TCU, KU, @WVU, TTU (4-5, 6-6)
West Virginia (2-1, 4-2) @BAY, OKST, ISU, @KSU, TEX, @OU (6-3, 8-4)
Texas Tech (1-2, 4-2) ISU, @OU, KSU, vBAY, TCU, @TEX (3-6, 6-6)
Kansas State (1-2, 3-3) OU, @KU, @TTU, WVU, @OKST, ISU (4-5, 6-6)
Kansas (0-3, 1-5) @TCU, KSU, BAY, @TEX, OU, @OKST (0-9, 1-11)
Baylor (0-3, 0-6) WVU, TEX, @KU, TTU, ISU, @TCU (1-8, 1-11)
It's the waiting game until TCU @ Oklahoma, and then a rematch a couple of weeks later. Pokes could play spoiler if they win Bedlam but I'm not buying it. Also, Iowa State is one upset away from becoming bowl eligible! However, the three winnable games (TTU/WVU/KSU) are all on the road. Though, that didn't stop them in Norman...

PAC-12

NORTH
pre:
Stanford (4-1, 5-2) @ORST, @WSU, WASH, CAL, ND (8-1, 10-2)
Washington (3-1, 6-1) UCLA, ORE, @STAN, UTAH, WSU (7-2, 10-2)
Washington State (3-1, 6-1) COL, @ZONA, STAN, @UTAH, @WASH (6-3, 9-3)
Cal (1-3, 4-3) ZONA, @COL, ORST, @STAN, @UCLA (4-5, 7-5)
Oregon (1-3, 4-3) @UCLA, UTAH, @WASH, ZONA, ORST (4-5, 7-5)
Oregon State (0-4, 1-6) STAN, @CAL, @ZONA, ASU, @ORE (0-9, 1-11)
I'm off the Washington bandwagons. Yes, both losses were incredibly flukey, especially Cal seemingly picking off every Luke Falk throw. But Stanford looks like the best team in the division and Bryce Love gets to be the next Stanford back to finish second in the Heisman. Add in that Washington goes to Stanford and that's enough for me to put the Trees over both of those teams, giving Stanford the North, and more than likely putting the Pac-12 out of the Playoff. Cal's win put them into the bowl picture and I also think they'll beat UCLA now, giving them some breathing room.

SOUTH
pre:
USC (4-1, 6-1) @ND, @ASU, ZONA, @COL, UCLA (8-1, 10-2)
Arizona (2-1, 4-2) @CAL, WSU, @USC, ORST, @ORE, @ASU (3-6, 5-7)
Arizona State (2-1, 3-3) @UTAH, USC, COL, @UCLA, @ORST, ZONA (4-5, 5-7)
Utah (1-2, 4-2) ASU, @ORE, UCLA, WSU, @WASH, COL (5-4, 8-4)
UCLA (1-2, 3-3) ORE, @WASH, @UTAH, ASU, @USC, CAL (2-7, 4-8)
Colorado (1-3, 4-3) @WSU, CAL, @ASU, USC, @UTAH (2-7, 5-7)
Now that all being said, USC's got a shot if they run the table, but I don't think they beat Notre Dame this week, nor would I put them over Stanford in a Pac-12 CG rematch. The Arizonas wins put them on the verge of bowl contention, but both are too inconsistent for me to have faith in.

Pac-12 Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 7: Stanford, Washington, USC, Washington State, Utah, Oregon, Cal

Kentucky (2-1, 5-1) @MSST, TENN, MISS, @VAN, @UGA, LOU (5-3, 9-3)

Missouri (0-4, 1-5) IDAHO, @UCONN, UF, TENN, @VAN, @ARK (2-6, 5-7)
Florida is beating Georgia so loving hard y'all, I can loving feel it. It's happening. I know it, you know it, the Universe knows it. After faltering against SC and once Bama beats the dogpiss out of them this week, I think that's it for Tennessee and they enter a death spiral. Butch is gone, not an if but a when. Vandy can't stop a nosebleed right now, but games against WKU and Mizzou, along with the hapless Vols, should be just enough for the Dores to squeak in. Though if the reward is Birmingham, why bother?

WEST
pre:
Alabama (4-0, 7-0) TENN, LSU, @MSST, mercer, @AUB (8-0, 12-0)
Auburn (3-1, 5-2) @ARK, @A&M, UGA, ULM, BAMA (6-2, 9-3)

Ole Miss (1-2, 3-3) LSU, ARK, @UK, ULL, A&M, @MSST (2-6, 5-7)
Arkansas (0-3, 2-4) AUB, @MISS, CCU, @LSU, MSST, MIZZ (0-8, 3-9)
Auburn's loss to LSU should keep them from a NY6 bowl. LSU feels like it's going to be the ultimate boom or bust team; good enough to get up and knock off a second-tier team like an Auburn, and then they might turn around and give up 60 to Ole Miss this weekend because who loving knows? In other words, what we got with Les Miles only more chaotic. Also, seeing the news this week that bert's big buyout isn't as big as people though, it means that the battle of the bulge won't be the only thing bert loses this offseason. I do wonder where Arky's AD now goes with Nebraska being filled...

Cincinnati (0-3, 2-5) SMU, @TULANE, TEM, @ECU, UCONN (2-6, 4-8)
With Boise beating San Diego State, the odds that the American produces the Group of 5 NY6 bowl team is nearly 100%. USF's the favorite, but I still think UCF's gonna get them at the end of the year. If UCF's only loss is to Navy, that gives them the division and kills the Bulls' dreams. Temple's L to UConn put them on the brink of eligibility.

WEST
pre:

Tulane (1-1, 3-3) USF, @MEM, CIN, @ECU, HOU, @SMU (3-5, 5-7)
Tulsa (1-2, 2-5) @UCONN, @SMU, MEM, @USF, TEM (2-6, 3-9)
Memphis sinks the Navy and if they can run a very manageable schedule, it'll be them and a Florida team for the right to go to the Peach (and their coach to go to a bigger job). Houston lost to Tulsa so fire Major Applewhite. Tulane's loss knocks them from eligibility.

Charlotte (0-3, 0-7) UAB, @ODU, MTSU, @USM, FAU (0-8, 0-12)
Marshall jumps to the top of the East and I assume they'll stay there. They do go to Boca Raton but I think they derail the Lane Train. FIU beat Tulane so I guess FIU is good? Maybe not bad? I dunno. MTSU's teetering on the edge of eligibility and Charlotte becomes our first bowl ineligible team on merit.

People are saying that North Texas is good and I've got no grounds to argue otherwise so what the hell, put them on top until they take L's at either FAU or LaTech. UTEP becomes our second team to be dumped on merit.

I don't know what to think about Army. They beat EMU to get on the verge of eligibility but that closing schedule seems together than it did last week, especially if North Texas isn't bad. It may be win or bust for the troops this week. I'm now saying BYU loses as Fresno to fall out of eligibility, but we'll need 6-7 teams to get it so welcome back Mormons! UMass is six games away from not having to play anymore this year.

Akron only beat WMU today because PJ Fleck took all the rowing equipment with him when he left. That's my story and if you disagree you are wrong. It's still Ohio's division to lose which they won't, Akron will bowl, everyone else is bad and should feel bad, especially Miami who lost to Kent State. You do that and you don't deserve to go bowling.

I'm less bullish on the Broncos than I was last week. Having to go to Toledo and NIU has me selling on them, meaning it comes down to the Rockets and Huskies in a couple of weeks, and I'll take the Rockets because they're at home and why not. CMU just has to beat Ball State/EMU/Kent State to go to a bowl, and if they can't do that then screw them.

Well, now I feel confident that App and Arky State will split the Fun Belt title again, after Troy shat the bed and they don't face each other. ULM becomes one of the 5-6 teams that might try and get a waiver for having to cancel a game, or maybe try and buy a game against an FCS team to try and get that 6th win. We'll have to wait and see.

College Football Playoff
pre:
Sugar Bowl Jan. 1 New Orleans, La. #2 Ohio State (Big Ten Champs) vs. #3 Clemson (ACC Champs)
Rose Bowl Jan. 1 Pasadena, Ca. #1 Alabama (SEC Champs) vs. #4 Oklahoma (Big 12 Champs)
Alabama's the sole undefeated team left, they earn #1 without an argument. Stanford has two losses so they and the Pac-12 are left out. Ohio State has wins over Penn State and Wisconsin, plus their one L is to Oklahoma, a playoff team, so they earn the #2 seed. Clemson and Oklahoma becomes an argument; both have a not-great L but Cuse is a mid-range ACC team while Iowa State might bowl, however Clemson lost on the road in a short week while Oklahoma lost at home. Oklahoma beat a playoff team in Ohio State, plus I think the committee would want to avoid a rematch, so Sooners' reward is the Alabama death machine while we end up with a different rematch, Buckeyes and Tigers. Hopefully the Big Ten can score this year.

New Year's Bowls

Fiesta Bowl Dec. 30 Glendale, Az. At-large vs. At-large Stanford vs. Oklahoma State
Cotton Bowl Dec. 29 Arlington, Tx. At-large vs. At-large TCU vs. Notre Dame
So here's the pile of 1 and 2 loss teams who aren't playoff-bound:

12-1: Wisconsin
11-1: Penn State
11-2: Virginia Tech, TCU, Stanford
10-2: Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Washington, Georgia
9-2: Miami

9 teams for 7 spots, with Memphis taking the Group of 5 spot in the Peach. Hokies are the highest ranked ACC team with their two losses coming to playoff Clemson, they face 12-1 Wisconsin who's sole loss was to Ohio State in the B1GCG. Penn State's reward for an 11-1 season is beating the hell out of Memphis in the Peach. As Pac-12 Champs Stanford is in, they head to the Fiesta where they get the Pokes. TCU, 11-2 with their two losses coming against playoff Oklahoma, head to the Cotton where they get 10-2 Notre Dame. Miami gets left out with only 9 wins and losses to VT/ND, Washington has a loss to Stanford, but the ASU loss dooms them, Georgia loses to Florida and Auburn which knocks them out.

We have 75 teams for 78 spots. BYU gets a waiver at 6-7, they head to Liberty to finally fill a Big 12 bowl spot. From there it's APR with Northwestern and Maryland getting the nods, Northwestern goes to Detroit while Maryland goes cross country to Hawai'i. As for what we have, Boise/Oregon could be fun, I'm going to book Duke/Kentucky in the Belk until it finally happens, Miami/Georgia in the Mark Richt Bowl is probably the highlight.

This is wrong, will always be wrong. Deal with it.

Who would have thought that Notre Dame and NC State would have been a must-watch game two months ago? On top of that it’s Clemson and the Wolf Pack next week and if NC State wins both of those we have to talk about them as a Playoff contender. The Noles now need to effectively run the non-Clemson schedule just to make a bowl and Christ Almighty that game at Florida should be marked :nms:. Meanwhile Steve Addazio is gonna make a bowl again and will sign a lifetime contract and football will die in Boston forever.

North Carolina (0-5, 1-7) U, @PITT, wcu, @NCST (0-8, 2-10)
Miami keeps pulling rabbits out of their asses and while they shouldn’t have any issues with a hapless UNC, the Hokies and Irish are gonna bring the U back down to earth. The Techs are fine, UVA’s slip-up puts them on the fringe, and Duke needs to win two on the road to make a bowl. But at least it’s almost hoops season on Tobacco Road!!!!

pre:
Notre Dame (6-1) NCST, WAKE, @U, NAVY, @STAN (10-2)
Considering how they handled USC we have to consider Notre Dame legit Playoff contenders now. They shouldn’t have any issues with their ACC run, especially since they get NC State at home, but Stanford looms real large at the end of the year. The Trees got the Irish once a couple of years ago to crush their dreams, and I’m still calling the sequel’s the same this year.

Maryland (1-3, 3-4) IND, RUT, MICH, @MSU, PSU (3-6, 5-7)
Indiana (0-4, 3-4) @MARY, WIS, @ILL, RUT, PUR (2-7, 5-7)
Penn State handled the first game of the gauntlet, but the real battle is here. Sparty’s also got the potential to vulture a wounded Nittany Lion as well. Meanwhile Michigan’s fourth in the division and paying their coach 9m a year to do that. Harbaugh won’t be on the hot seat next season, but it’ll be warm for sure and if they bottom out it could be sheer chaos in Ann Arbor. Also what the gently caress has gotten into Rutgers, TWO wins?!?!?! Sweet jesus!!!! Meanwhile Indiana and Maryland could be a bowl eliminator for both, Maryland has the far more difficult road regardless while Indiana could win their last three and get in, but it’s not guaranteed.

Illinois (0-4, 2-5) WIS, @PUR, IND, @OSU, NW (0-9, 2-10)
Wisconsin just keeps on keeping on. It would be a major disappointment for them not to win out. Northwestern/Iowa/Purdue/Minnesota is this jumbled mess in the middle of the pack, I think they can all beat each other up just enough to get in but won’t be challenging Wisconsin at all. Purdue/Indiana might be a bowl eliminator, meaning it’ll be the third most impactful game in the state of Indiana this year, behind ND/UGA and ND/NCST and ahead of anything the Colts have done.

Baylor (0-4, 0-7) TEX, @KU, TTU, ISU, @TCU (1-8, 1-11)
What in the blue hell has gotten into Iowa State? All of a sudden a throwaway game for TCU has become a ranked on ranked matchup and must-see TV. I’m now confident the Clones will go bowling, but it’ll come at the expense of TTU/KST, and if the Red Raiders end up missing a bowl after being ranked this year, it may be the end of Koach Kliffy K. Baylor at least put up a fight while Kansas rolled over and died, which gives me confidence that the Bearmobile will ride once this year when they meet next week.

Washington State (4-1, 7-1) @ZONA, STAN, @UTAH, @WASH (6-3, 9-3)

Oregon (1-4, 4-4) UTAH, @WASH, ZONA, ORST (3-6, 6-6)
Oregon State (0-4, 1-6) STAN, @CAL, @ZONA, ASU, @ORE (0-9, 1-11)
Good rebound for Wazzu in blanking Colorado, but I don’t think they can keep Luke Falk alive against Stanford/Washington and that’ll cost them. Meanwhile I don’t know what to think about Cal and Oregon; Cal can win three of their last four and get in, while Oregon may be SOL if they can’t get past Utah this weekend.

SOUTH

pre:
USC (4-1, 6-2) @ASU, ZONA, @COL, UCLA (8-1, 10-2)

UCLA (2-2, 4-3) @WASH, @UTAH, ASU, @USC, CAL (2-7, 4-8)
Utah (1-3, 4-3) @ORE, UCLA, WSU, @WASH, COL (3-6, 6-6)
Colorado (1-4, 4-4) CAL, @ASU, USC, @UTAH (1-8, 4-8)
Man I don’t have a read on the South at all. I guess I’m buying the Arizonas; the Wildcats might be able to upset Wazzu here and should be able to easily get in with the Beavers on the schedule, while the Sun Devils might win out or might lose out and neither would surprise me. Utah and UCLA might do whatever, and I don’t think Colorado’s getting another W this year.

Bama and LSU have the week off before they meet, Auburn’s gotta take care of business before they get their shot at being humiliated by the Tide. LSU on the “boom” cycle of “boom or bust”, but that’s gonna change here in a little bit. Meanwhile bert’s team showed they have no heart, unlike their coach who has a clogged heart, but the end result of laying down and dying on the field is the same regardless.

It’s still Marshall’s division and conference to lose, but I guess we might need to actually get on the Lane Train after they dropped a nice score on North Texas. Not ready to call WKU over Vandy but give me a week. Good on Charlotte getting a win, even if it is at the expense of UAB.

UTEP (0-3, 0-7) UTSA, @MTSU, @UNT, LATECH, @UAB (0-8, 0-12)
Not a good week for the West, with North Texas getting creamed and UAB taking an L to a winless team. Still, North Texas has the tie-breaker over Southern Miss and the Golden Eagles have to go to Marshall, while the Mean Green just have a road trip to Ruston as the last real tough game. Not a good loss for UAB but they’ve got three winnable games to get two. At least UTEP didn’t lose this week.

UMass (1-6) APP, @MSST, maine, @BYU, @FIU (1-11)
Army is our first team to accept a bowl bid, as they’ll be heading to the Armed Forces Bowl. UMass wins the pillow fight of the week over Georgia Southern, who responded by firing their coach. The back half of BYU’s schedule is tissue-paper soft and yet they may not be strong enough to break through, which says something. 6-7 means they’ll go bowling so they’re not dead yet, but visions of Joseph Smith and the Pearly Gates are filling their heads.

MAC East assumes the position that they’ll most likely finish in. Yes, Akron/Ohio will decide the division towards the end but  if you think I’m gonna beat on the Zips in that one. Miami and Buffalo need an upset somewhere if they’re gonna get in and I don’t have faith in one happening. RIP Bowling Green, downgraded to just Green.

Not a ton changes here, App and ArkySt take care of business and are heading towards a split title; App has no one tough left or anyone above .500, while the Red Wolves do have New Mexico State and Troy to potentially trip them up. Georgia Southern loses to winless UMass, which is enough for them to finally end the Tyson Summers experiment. I really want to call Coastal Carolina over worthless Arkansas but even I’m not that petty. Yet.

Call me lazy but the lack of upsets gives me no reason to change the projections for the primary bowls. Ohio State beats Penn State and Wisconsin to win the B1G, Clemson and Notre Dame beat NC State to knock them out of contention, Hokie beats Miami to set themselves up for the ACC’s Orange Bowl spot, and Georgia takes L’s to Florida and Auburn to lose their case. Really the only spot that might change would be the Group of 5 spot and that’s a three-horse race between Memphis/UCF/South Florida. Although if all three get tripped up the next team up would be…….goddammit it’d be Boise wouldn’t it.

We’re one shy so Maryland wins the APR lottery and the right to head to Detroit. The Mark Richt Bowl between Miami and Georgia remains the most intriguing matchup, as bowl rotation agreements creates some weird bedfellows, right until they agree to break those clauses in the contract.

Is there a reason you projected #1 'Bama in the Rose? Wouldn't they put them (and OU) in the Sugar for tie-in and "home" field for the #1 team?

IIRC because the Sugar had #1 Bama/#4 Ohio State in the first go round, the Rose gets the #1/4 matchup this time. Don't hold me to that though.

I wish my wolves played app State so we could be undisputed kings of the fun belt but welp. Probably going to be a split title with both teams going bowling. Which is fine, I just wish the belt had a conference championship game.

I feel like they look for home field advantage (for whatever that counts) for the #1 seed. Looking back, Bama was in the Peach over the Fiesta, Clemson was in the Orange over Cotton, and Bama was in the Sugar over the Rose. This year, I'd put the ACC, Big XII and SEC champ in the Sugar if they're #1, and Pac 12 and Big 10 in the Rose for incredibly obvious reasons.

They're projected to face Vandy in Birmingham, though I wouldn't want to acknowledge that bowl either.

Why do you think Memphis is better than UCF? So far UCF looks like the best G5 team by a mile.

Actually... now that the Sun Belt has 12 teams, why DON'T we have a conference championship game? Is it because they don't want to make two divisions?

Is that a requirement? I know 12+ teams is necessary but I'm not sure about the divisional part.

It's just annoying having to share the title if the Wolves win out. I feel like if we can win in New Mexico we could probably beat those App State fuckers on a neutral field.

It's mostly that I've seen Memphis play and I haven't seen UCF, tbh. I've seen USF and they had some sloppiness that soured me on them despite crushing early season competition. But I think it's UCF vs. USF and the winner gets Memphis, and barring some poo poo going down the winner of that game gets the Peach.

There'll be a Fun Belt CG next season even though they're booting New Mexico State/Idaho. Fun Belt added Coastal to get up to 12 and have a championship game, but once the NCAA waived the 12 teams/2 division requirement so the Big 12 could have a title game at 10, Sun Belt decided to give those two teams the boot for the sake of geography, or so they say.

Florida State (2-4, 2-5) CUSE, @CLEM, delawarest, @UF (2-6, 3-8)
Raleigh is the destination this Saturday for Clemson and NC State, and I don't think that State's got the horses to keep up with Clemson, and that should give Clemson the division/conference. I guess I'm all in on Cuse considering the schedule and I'm prepared to be wrong, though tbh such a finish would all but send Dino out the door and to a better job so root against your team Orange fans. Louisville is a mess and I'm thinking Big Wheel Bobby is out the door (and probably calling the Hogs again tbh), while the Noles are just broken. I mean there's been overrated teams before, teams like USC who were ranked #1 and had to struggle to make a bowl, but FSU was a legit national title contender and they're just a husk of a team. I know losing Francois hurt but what in the blue hell happened there? Wake and Duke is looking like it'll be a bowl-eliminator.

Also Syracuse vs. Boston College is now a must-watch game. This sport is so, soooooo dumb.

The good times are coming to an end for Miami this Saturday when Virginia Tech brings them back down to Earth. UVA's good times are over as well, though Louisville is such a mess that a disciplined Cavs team could beat them and get that sixth win, otherwise it's not looking great. Taking Duke out as I don't think they're on the right side of the bowl-eliminator with Wake, and Pitt's moving themselves into APR range. Not the best division, folks.

Gotta root for Stanford if you're an Irish hater. 11-1 and running the back half of this schedule gives Notre Dame a strong Playoff argument, especially over the Pac-12/Big 12. I don't think the other three teams can beat the Irish.

Indiana (0-5, 3-5) WIS, @ILL, RUT, PUR (2-7, 5-7)
I tried to warn you folks. Now, Penn State's not dead by any stretch of the imagination and it'll be curious to see where the committee has them in the initial rankings on Tuesday. I could very much see both Ohio State and Penn State making it in, but they'll need the Big 12 to eat itself alive and Notre Dame to take another loss. Sparty's loss takes them out of the picture unless they pull off the seemingly impossible. Maryland need to beat Rutgers to head into APR land, and I'm tempting to called Rutgers over Indiana, which means jack poo poo in the short and long term.

Illinois (0-5, 2-6) @PUR, IND, @OSU, NW (0-9, 2-10)
Where Wisconsin's ranked on Tuesday is one of the more interesting subplots; my guess is they're going to be in the 8-10 range and people will be outraged over having an undefeated team that high despite that They Ain't Played Nobody. Wisconsin winning the Big Ten might keep the conference from getting two in. Purdue looking to Husker probably keeps them out, sad to say.

Baylor (0-5, 0-8) @KU, TTU, ISU, @TCU (1-8, 1-11)
Well the Big 12's gotten themselves into quite a pickle once again, folks. For reference, Iowa State's got wins over TCU and at Oklahoma, while TCU's beaten the Pokes and the rest need to play. If my scenario plays out, it'd be Oklahoma vs. Iowa State in the Big 12 championship game, which I'm sure is what everyone had before the season. Sooners really need Iowa State to run the table, losing to the Pokes might negate any benefits from beating them in the B12CG. Iowa State winning the Big 12 keeps the conference out for sure, TCU and the Oklahomas have a shot but they need to run the table and hope Notre Dame takes a loss. Kansas and Baylor this weekend folks, great seats still available in Lawrence ticket operators standing by.

Oregon State (0-5, 1-7) STAN, @CAL, @ZONA, ASU, @ORE (0-9, 1-11)
Stanford deserved to lose to Oregon State, full stop. But deserve ain't got nothing to do with it and it's looking like next weekend will decide the North and potentially the conference. Wazzu's coming back down to earth hard and I'm thinking this is about as good as Mike Leach is going to be able to do in Pullman, but even with that reality he ain't taking the Nebraska job. Cal's gonna have to beat UCLA to make a bowl, Oregon just needs Civil War to make it.

Colorado (2-4, 5-4) @ASU, USC, @UTAH (2-7, 5-7)
USC and Arizona for the division this coming weekend, which is another game we all had penciled as a big-time contest. Utah/Colorado's looking like a bowl eliminator to end the season, and UCLA's completely boned if Josh Rosen is hurt and only partially boned if he's good to go, and regardless UCLA's probably looking to join a crowded coaching market at the end of the season. Speaking of which!......

Georgia lets Florida implode to win the Cocktail Party and have a lock on the East, they clinch with a win over South Carolina and a Kentucky loss to Ole Miss this weekend. Florida might fall apart, Tennessee's falling apart, Kentucky's not good as of late, Vandy can't stop anyone, folks Mizzou might run the back half of their table and make a bowl! I'm not willing to call it as of yet but if Missouri beats Florida this weekend it's as good a bet as any. The East has sure outdone themselves this season and that fact alone should keep Georgia out for anything short of 13-0. And my god, Florida and Florida State are going to play each other and it may be a bowl eliminator and please send another hurricane to put both of these teams out of their misery.

Top three teams had the week off so no real change, other than selling A&M as they've entered their annual back half swoon and it's time to throw Kevin Sumlin onto the hot seat again, folks. We're looking at having Florida and Ole Miss looking for coaches now, with Tennessee all but in, Arkansas on the verge, A&M a possibility if they fall apart again and Missouri if they can't make a run. 6 jobs in one conference. South Florida goes down, but can still play spoiler for UCF (they won't). UConn loses to Mizzou which isn't a surprise, and the back of the division had the weekend off so good for them.

Memphis avoided another trap and just need to beat SMU, which isn't a guarantee. Regardless if Memphis and UCF can win out, the winner of the 'Murica championship game gets the Peach. Navy's still hanging around as well and Houston's win puts them solidly in bowl position. Bye Tulsa.

North Texas should win the West after Southern Miss took another loss, Mean Green just need to survive at LaTech and that'll be game. Bill Clark deserve Coach of the Year honors for going 8-4 after raising UAB back from the dead; he should also be a contender for a bigger job but if he didn't leave UAB when they didn't have a team why would he leave now? UTSA and LaTech is looking like a bowl eliminator at the end of the year. Bye Rice, and enjoy your retirement David Baliff, you did about as good as anyone could there.

Also I hope you're ready for two C-USA teams to beat two SEC teams this week. I know I am.

How the hell did UMass beat App State? If they can do that, I might as well give them Maine and a 3-9 record. BYU beat another bad team and a bowl isn't out of question if they run the table, but that very much remains to be seen.

Toledo’s got a tough closing stretch with NIU/@Ohio/WMU, but I’ve got faith in the Rockets taking care of business enough to win the West and setup a rematch with Ohio. NIU and WMU should be fine, CMU’s got winnable games against EMU and Kent State to get in. I wrote this last week and didn't change anything because it's still true.

New Mexico (1-4, 3-5) USU, @A&M, UNLV, @SDSU (2-6, 4-8)
If the American teams beat each other up, it's not inconceivable for Boise to backdoor their way to the Group of 5 BY6 spot, most likely back to the Fiesta instead of sending them cross-country to the Peach. Air Force beating CSU helps them out, majority of the division has work to do but is in good shape.

San Jose State (0-4, 1-8) SDSU, @NEV, @CSU, WYO (0-8, 1-12)
Fresno takes a loss they couldn't afford and given they have to go to Wyoming and host Boise, while San Diego State has San Jose State/Nevada/New Mexico, it's likely that Aztecs end up winning the division. UNLV has three winnable games to make a bowl now, which would help them out quite a bit.

Coastal Carolina (0-5, 1-7) @ARK, TROY, @IDAHO, GSO (1-7, 2-10)

Well, the good news for the Appers is that UMass isn't a conference foe. The only thing that'll keep them from sharing the Fun Belt title with Arky State is if Troy can pick off the Red Wolves at the end of the year. Georgia State should be fine, New Mexico State's gotta win some winnable games. Coastal Carolina's now officially eliminated, along with Georgia Southern.

College Football Playoff

pre:
Sugar Bowl Jan. 1 New Orleans, La. #2 Ohio State (Big Ten Champs) vs. #3 Clemson (ACC Champs)
Rose Bowl Jan. 1 Pasadena, Ca. #1 Alabama (SEC Champs) vs. #4 Oklahoma (Big 12 Champs)
So this doesn't change. Why? Oklahoma beat Ohio State, Penn State didn't. To me, the committee will take that into consideration more then Sooners winning the Big 12, even if Penn State is ranked above Oklahoma in the initial rankings.

pre:
Peach Bowl Jan. 1 Atlanta, Ga. At-large vs. At-large UCF vs. Georgia

Cotton Bowl Dec. 29 Arlington, Tx. At-large vs. At-large TCU vs. Notre Dame
Moved these around a little. Virginia Tech is the ACC's rep in the Orange, they'll now face Penn State in the Orange since I think they'll be ranked ahead of Wisconsin and Georgia. The Dawgs head to the Peach to face at-large UCF, putting them in now over Memphis. Pac-12 Champs Stanford get the Fiesta where they'll face Wisconsin in the biggest of big boy matchups available. This sends TCU to the Cotton where they'll face Notre Dame. On the outside looking in is Oklahoma State by virtue of losing H2H to TCU. Mike Gundy responds by vowing to never wear a shirt again.

And the rest.

Las Vegas Bowl Dec. 16 Las Vegas, Nev. Mountain West vs. Pac-12 Boise State vs. Arizona State
Cure Bowl Dec. 16 Orlando, Fla. American vs. Sun Belt Southern Miss vs. Georgia State
New Orleans Bowl Dec. 16 New Orleans, La. C-USA vs. Sun Belt North Texas vs. Arkansas State
We're two teams shy so Duke (of course) and Minnesota get the spots, Duke heads to Birmingham while Minnesota rows over to Murder City. We lose the Mark Richt bowl unfortunately, though Texas/Florida is, well, it's a thing.

First playoff rankings are Tuesday and I'll do another set of projections then. Yay. :toot:

STOP DOING HEROIN
I've made my peace with Washington farting around in the Holiday but God I really don't want to play Northwestern

"Tell that to Zod's snapped neck!"

God I hope Iowa State wins the Big 12 Championship game. Iowa is really mediocre this year so having a win against a conference champion would be a big boost, and also keep the Big 12 out of the playoffs.

This would be very funny but there's a decent chance the Big 12 gets left out anyway. Adding the championship game was so loving dumb and I bet it winds up loving them over for the playoff more often than it helps

So if we were to go by the current rankings:

pre:
Sugar Bowl Jan. 1 New Orleans, La. #2 Alabama (At-Large) vs. #3 Notre Dame (At-Large)
Rose Bowl Jan. 1 Pasadena, Ca. #1 Georgia (SEC Champs) vs. #4 Clemson (ACC Champs)
pre:
Peach Bowl Jan. 1 Atlanta, Ga. At-large vs. At-large #18 UCF vs. #7 Penn State
Orange Bowl Dec. 30 Miami, Fl. ACC vs. SEC/B1G/ND #10 Miami vs. #6 Ohio State
Fiesta Bowl Dec. 30 Glendale, Az. At-large vs. At-large #12 Washington vs. #8 TCU
Cotton Bowl Dec. 29 Arlington, Tx. At-large vs. At-large #5 Oklahoma vs. #9 Wisconsin
Only two conference champs get in with Notre Dame taking a spot and Alabama getting an at-large. This force three conference champs into the Group of 5, combined with UCF we spread those three out. Miami's the highest ranked ACC team with Clemson in the playoff, they stay at home and take on Big Ten champs (and highest ranked B1G/SEC team) Ohio State. Washington's the highest ranked Pac-12 team, they head to the Fiesta and face TCU. Big 12 Champs Oklahoma get the Cotton where they face Wisconsin. Penn State head to the Peach where they face Group of 5 rep UCF.

11 of the top 12 teams are represented, with #11 Oklahoma State left out by virtue of UCF and needing a Pac-12 rep. But as they're behind two conference teams I don't cry too much.

And the rest:

Not a ton of changes. Not a ton of terribly appealing games but some decent ones. Texas vs. Florida is still the head-scratching must-watch, kinda, I guess.

Week 10 - Having to Rethink Everything About Everything

Legend:
Bold = Eligible
Italics = Projected Eligible
Strike = Ineligible

ACC

ATLANTIC
pre:
Clemson (6-1, 8-1) FSU, citadel, @SC (7-1, 11-1)
NC State (4-1, 6-3) @BC, @WAKE, UNC (7-1, 9-3)
Syracuse (2-3, 4-4) WAKE, LOU, BC (5-3, 7-5)
Boston College (3-3, 6-3) NCST, UCONN, @CUSE (4-4, 7-5)
Wake Forest (2-3, 5-4) @CUSE, NCST, DUKE (3-5, 6-6)
Louisville (2-4, 5-4) UVA, CUSE, @UK (2-6, 5-7)
Florida State (3-4, 3-5) @CLEM, delawarest, @UF (3-5, 5-6)
Clemson takes care of business and just need to pick apart a hapless FSU team to claim the Atlantic. Syracuse somehow falls at FSU and gives the Noles life; if/when the Noles beat Florida and get to 5-6 they'll schedule their game against Arky State (and probably lose tbh). Wake's got three to win one but it may come down to the end.

COASTAL

pre:
Miami (6-0, 8-0) ND, UVA, @PITT (8-0, 10-1)
Virginia Tech (3-2, 7-2) @GT, PITT, @UVA (6-2, 10-2)
Virginia (3-2, 6-3) @LOU, @U, VT (4-4, 7-5)
Georgia Tech (3-3, 4-4) VT, @DUKE, UGA (4-4, 5-6)
Pitt (2-3, 4-5) UNC, @VT, U (3-5, 5-7)
Duke (1-5, 4-5) @ARMY, GT, @WAKE (1-7, 5-7)
North Carolina (0-6, 1-8) @PITT, wcu, @NCST (0-8, 2-10)
Miami shows up against the Hokies and regardless of what happens against Notre Dame, if they beat UVA/Pitt Miami's got the Orange Bowl. Virginia's bowl-eligible for the first time in a while, which takes GT out of contention. One more win and the Jackets can at least get into the APR pile.

pre:
Notre Dame (8-1) @U, NAVY, @STAN (10-2)
I'm not feeling confident in my pick of Stanford over Notre Dame anymore. I'll wait and see if Stanford shows up against Washington but they've had two bad showing the past two weeks, and an 11-1 Notre Dame goes to the Playoff. Just saying.

ACC Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 9: Clemson, Notre Dame, Miami, Virginia Tech, NC State, Boston College, Syracuse, Virginia, Wake Forest

BIG TEN

EAST

pre:
Ohio State (5-1, 7-2) MSU, ILL, @MICH (8-1, 10-2)
Michigan State (5-1, 7-2) @OSU, MARY, @RUT (7-2, 9-3)
Penn State (4-2, 7-2) RUT, NEB, @MARY (7-2, 10-2)
Michigan (4-2, 7-2) @MARY, @WIS, OSU (5-4, 8-4)
Rutgers (3-3, 4-5) @PSU, @IND, MSU (4-5, 5-7)
Maryland (2-4, 4-5) MICH, @MSU, PSU (2-7, 4-8)
Indiana (0-6, 3-6) @ILL, RUT, PUR (1-8, 4-8)
There's no nice way to say this but the Big Ten's on life support. Everyone in their best division now has two losses and they'd need chaos across the board to try and squeak Ohio State/Penn State in. Sparty becomes an NY6 contender if they can keep their momentum going in Columbus next weekend. And speaking of momentum look at Rutgers! Beat Indiana and they find themselves in the APR pool, which is far greater than anyone could have expected before the season.

WEST

pre:
Wisconsin (6-0, 9-0) IOWA, MICH, @MINN (9-0, 12-0)
Northwestern (4-2, 6-3) PUR, MINN, @ILL (7-2, 9-3)
Iowa (3-3, 6-3) @WIS, PUR, @NEB (5-4, 8-4)
Nebraska (3-3, 4-5) @MINN, @PSU, IOWA (3-6, 4-8)
Purdue (2-4, 4-5) @NW, @IOWA, IND (3-6, 5-7)
Minnesota (1-5, 4-5) NEB, @NW, WIS (2-7, 5-7)
Illinois (0-6, 2-7) IND, @OSU, NW (0-9, 2-10)
Wisconsin is the Big Ten's last hope; winning out and finally getting a quality win in the B1GCG puts them in since a 13-0 P5 team isn't getting left out except under the most dubious of circumstances. Purdue and Minnesota need to find an upset somewhere to get in, Illinois doesn't have the gumption/bucks to fire Lovie after two seasons, but I bet they'll find it after next. Where they go from there, who knows.

Big Ten Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 7: Wisconsin, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State, Northwestern, Michigan, Iowa

Big 12

pre:
Oklahoma (5-1, 8-1) TCU, @KU, WVU (8-1, 11-1)
TCU (5-1, 8-1) @OU, @TTU, BAY (7-2, 10-2)
Oklahoma State (4-2, 7-2) @ISU, KSU, KU (7-2, 10-2)
Iowa State (4-2, 6-3) OKST, @BAY, @KSU (6-3, 8-4)
West Virginia (4-2, 6-3) @KSU, TEX, @OU (6-3, 8-4)
Kansas State (3-3, 5-4) WVU, @OKST, ISU (3-6, 5-7)
Texas (3-3, 4-5) KU, @WVU, TTU (4-5, 6-6)
Texas Tech (1-5, 4-5) vBAY, TCU, @TEX (2-7, 5-7)
Baylor (1-5, 1-8) TTU, ISU, @TCU (1-8, 1-11)
Kansas (0-6, 1-8) @TEX, OU, @OKST (0-9, 1-11)
It doesn't matter who wins between Oklahoma and TCU this weekend (though Oklahoma would be preferred from the conference's standpoint), all that matters is whoever wins on Saturday also wins the potential rematch in the B12CG. Iowa State crashes back down to earth and their game against the Pokes this weekend is an B12CG eliminator. K-State's gotta find an upset to make a bowl and this weekend's probably their best shot. Tech going from ranked to missing a bowl over the course of a season should be the death knell for Koach Kliffy K, but we'll see.

Big 12 Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 6: Oklahoma, TCU, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, West Virginia, Texas

PAC-12

NORTH

pre:
Washington (5-1, 8-1) @STAN, UTAH, WSU (7-2, 10-2)
Washington State (5-2, 8-2) @UTAH, @WASH (6-3, 9-3)
Stanford (5-2, 6-3) WASH, CAL, ND (7-2, 9-3)
Oregon (2-5, 5-5) ZONA, ORST (3-6, 6-6)
Cal (2-5, 5-5) @STAN, @UCLA (3-6, 6-6)
Oregon State (0-6, 1-8) @ZONA, ASU, @ORE (0-9, 1-11)
The door is wide open for Washington this weekend; beat Stanford and they've got a path to the Playoff, though the Apple Cup should be especially feisty this season. I'm still not selling on Stanford since I'm just as stubborn as they are, but I wouldn't put money on the Trees if I had to. Ducks need to win Civil War, Cal needs to win at UCLA to get in at the end of the year.

SOUTH

pre:
USC (6-1, 8-2) @COL, UCLA (8-1, 10-2)
Arizona (4-2, 6-3) ORST, @ORE, @ASU (7-2, 9-3)
Arizona State (4-2, 5-4) @UCLA, @ORST, ZONA (6-3, 7-5)
Utah (2-4, 5-4) WSU, @WASH, COL (3-6, 6-6)
UCLA (2-4, 4-5) ASU, @USC, CAL (2-7, 4-8)
Colorado (2-5, 5-5) USC, @UTAH (2-7, 5-7)
USC clears their last hurdle and win the division with a W or the Zona's taking another L. Utah and Colorado looks like it'll be a bowl eliminator at the end of the season. UCLA's falling apart again and it's time for new leadership there.

Pac-12 Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 9: Stanford, USC, Washington, Arizona, Washington State, Arizona State, Oregon, Utah, Cal

SEC

EAST

pre:
Georgia (6-0, 9-0) @AUB, UK, @GT, SECCG (7-1, 11-2)
South Carolina (4-3, 6-3) UF, wof, CLEM (5-3, 8-4)
Kentucky (3-3, 6-3) @VAN, @UGA, LOU (4-4, 8-4)
Florida (3-4, 3-5) @SC, UAB, FSU (3-5, 3-8)
Missouri (1-4, 4-5) TENN, @VAN, @ARK (4-4, 7-5)
Tennessee (0-5, 4-5) @MIZ, LSU, VAN (0-8, 4-8)
Vanderbilt (0-5, 4-5) UK, MIZZ, @TENN (1-7, 5-7)
Georgia wins the East but their Playoff path has the first of two major roadblocks on Saturday. It's a good thing that Kentucky's already bowl eligible since they're trending the wrong way hard. But it's time to buy Missouri, that closing schedule is kitten-fur soft and three chances to win two seems very doable, even with two on the road. Florida's now an even bigger mess than FSU and it's time to sell them as hard as humanly possible. I hope no one shows up to the Swamp at the end of the year.

WEST

pre:
Alabama (6-0, 9-0) @MSST, mercer, @AUB (8-0, 12-0)
Auburn (5-1, 7-2) UGA, ULM, BAMA (6-2, 9-3)
Mississippi State (3-2, 7-2) BAMA, @ARK, MISS (5-3, 9-3)
LSU (3-2, 6-3) ARK, @TENN, A&M (6-2, 9-3)
Texas A&M (3-3, 5-4) UNM, @MISS, @LSU (4-4, 7-5)
Ole Miss (2-4, 4-5) ULL, A&M, @MSST (2-6, 5-7)
Arkansas (1-4, 4-5) @LSU, MSST, MIZZ (1-7, 4-8)
Bama Bama's, should clear the next two games and finally have a challenge against Auburn. A&M's entering their annual November death spiral and 7-5 won't save Sumlin for sure, 8-4 might not even do the job. Bert being employed is a travesty of justice in every regard, and Man v. Food being relaunched already means there's no place on Earth for him to earn a living. His downfall can't come soon enough.

SEC Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 9: Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State, Kentucky, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Missouri

East Carolina (1-4, 2-7) TULANE, CIN, @MEM (1-7, 2-10)
UCF has the open path to the Peach Bowl if they win their next four games. USF is their biggest hurdle, though Temple showed some fight in upsetting Navy and the Owls are looking to make a bowl. Bye bye Pirates, that's what you get for doing Ruffin dirty.

WEST

pre:

Tulsa (1-5, 2-8) @USF, TEM (1-7, 2-10)
Memphis can win the West in two weeks, with a win over SMU, or without playing this week if Houston and SMU lose. Navy's path to a bowl is looking real shaky with one game they won't win (Notre Dame) and three games that are now leaning toss-up. If they can't get past SMU at home this week, the Shippers are in big trouble.

Charlotte (1-4, 1-8) MTSU, @USM, FAU (1-7, 1-11)
Well, toot toot motherfuckers. FAU/FIU is now must watc...well...."must watch" for the East division. WKU needs to beat MTSU to make a bowl, while the Blue Raiders need to win their two non-Hilltopper games. ODU stays alive for another week, which will be as long as their bowl hopes last.

UTEP (0-5, 0-9) @UNT, LATECH, @UAB (0-8, 0-12)
North Texas clears their last hurdle and with two cans to knock over, we might as well crown them the West champs and get ready for them against the Lane Train. Good on UAB getting eligible after rising from the dead and if they don't use some kind of undead ice dragon imagery to celebrate this accomplishment they're dropping the ball. For the players sake I hope they get rewarded with a trip to the Bahamas, though I don't wish that game on any of the staffs. LaTech/UTSA looks like it'll be an eliminator at the end of the year.

Two C-USA teams did not beat SEC teams this year. Natural order resorted, I guess.

C-USA Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 9: FAU, North Texas, FIU, Marshall, UAB, Southern Miss, UTSA, Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee

UMass (2-7) maine, @BYU, @FIU (3-9)
We can put this division to rest. Army's got three winnable games here though they're already locked into a bowl, and BYU/UMass are done for. They play each other in Provo but it's a whatever.

Ball State (0-5, 2-7) @NIU, BUF, MOH (0-8, 2-10)
Toledo/Ohio should be a preview of the MAC title game and I'll take Toledo in both rounds. NIU is in, CMU beats WMU so their coach can gently caress a cannon trophy and the Chips don't have to worry about being left in bowl wilderness like the Broncos will now. Up the creek without a paddle, you might say they are.

New Mexico (1-5, 3-6) @A&M, UNLV, @SDSU (2-6, 4-8)
If the American teams beat each other up, it's not inconceivable for Boise to backdoor their way to the Group of 5 BY6 spot, most likely back to the Fiesta instead of sending them cross-country to the Peach. Air Force losing to Army puts them in a position where they need to win their two home games to get in.

Georgia Southern (0-4, 0-8) @APP, USA, @ULL, @CCU (0-8, 0-12)

All of a sudden App is falling apart and the door is wide open for the Red Wolves. Win their next three and they set up a scenario against Troy that could mean either an outright Fun Belt title for Arky State or a possible three-way tie if Troy and App end up winning out. Georgia State's taking care of business, New Mexico State just needs to do the same.

College Football Playoff

pre:
Sugar Bowl Jan. 1 New Orleans, La. #2 Oklahoma (Big 12 Champs) vs. #3 Clemson (ACC Champs)
Rose Bowl Jan. 1 Pasadena, Ca. #1 Alabama (SEC Champs) vs. #4 Ohio State (Big Ten Champs)
Alabama is the only real lock here at 13-0 and number one. After that it becomes more up in flux. Sooners beat TCU twice, go 12-1 with two wins over TCU and take the #2 spot. Clemson runs the rest of the table and takes down #3. The issue then becomes who gets #4. In my picks Wisconsin goes 12-0 but loses in the B1GCG, Notre Dame loses to Stanford, Georgia loses to Auburn and in the SECCG, Washington also loses to Stanford. This all but ensures that a two-loss team gets in and that team ends up being Ohio State, who beats a 12-0 Wisconsin in the B1GCG to backdoor their way into the fourth spot. This scenario seems to upset just about everyone, which means it'll come true.

Cotton Bowl Dec. 29 Arlington, Tx. At-large vs. At-large Notre Dame vs. Oklahoma State
Miami's the highest ranked ACC team, they end up facing Wisconsin as they're boosted above Notre Dame just to avoid a rematch. UCF heads to the Peach where they face Georgia. Stanford's the Pac-12 champs and head to the Fiesta. After that there's a giant mess of 10-2/3 teams, from there Notre Dame, Penn State, and Oklahoma State end up getting boosted above the mess. This is ugly as all get out.

And the rest.

We're still short two, so Vandy and Duke get the nod, assuming that 5-6 FSU doesn't get a waiver and is instead put out of their misery.

These predictions are just a loving mess. Just give Bama the title and cancel the rest. Good gravy.

According to the APR rankings I saw, it would be Duke>Minnesota>Vanderbilt, though they all had the same number, so I'm not sure if that's an official tiebreaker. See: https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2017/5/10/15613274/ncaa-apr-scores-2017-bowl-eligibility

Florida State (3-5, 3-6) delawarest, @UF, ULM (3-5, 6-6)
Syracuse (2-4, 4-6) @LOU, BC (4-4, 6-6)
Clemson takes down FSU, but probably not by a dominant enough performance to avoid being jumped by Miami in the next Playoff polls. The good news is that the ACC is all but guaranteed a spot in the Playoff between Clemson/Miami and has the best shot at perhaps getting both in. FSU adding ULM gives the Noles a strong chance of bowling for god-knows whatever reason, and Wake/Louisville are in. The one who's now on the ropes is Cuse who have two tough ones to get in. If there's a silver lining, it means Dino Babers probably won't be jumping ship after this season.

COASTAL

pre:
Miami (6-0, 9-0) UVA, @PITT, CLEM (8-0, 11-1)
Georgia Tech (4-3, 5-4) @DUKE, UGA (5-3, 6-5)

Virginia (3-3, 6-4) @U, VT (3-5, 6-6)
Pitt (2-4, 4-6) @VT, U (2-6, 4-8)
Duke (1-5, 4-6) GT, @WAKE (1-7, 4-8)
North Carolina (1-6, 2-8) wcu, @NCST (1-7, 3-9)
Miami wins the Coastal without playing in-conference, and as a Miami fan and Notre Dame hater I literally could not stop cumming last night. Provided Miami doesn't poo poo the bed against UVA or Pitt the Orange Bowl is the basement and the Playoffs are the ceiling. Georgia Tech loses ones they shouldn't and wins ones they shouldn't and just need to beat a hapless Duke team to make a bowl, and considering Duke just played itself out of the APR pool that should be in. Pitt needs a miracle and they ain't getting one.

pre:
Notre Dame (8-2) NAVY, @STAN (9-3)
That'll do it for the Irish and they're now fighting for a NY6 bowl, for which they'll need to win at Stanford. Citrus/Camping World is the most likely destination tbh.

ACC Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 12: Clemson, Miami, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, NC State, Wake Forest, Boston College, Louisville, Virginia, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Syracuse

BIG TEN

EAST

pre:
Ohio State (6-1, 8-2) ILL, @MICH (8-1, 10-2)
Penn State (5-2, 8-2) NEB, @MARY (7-2, 10-2)
Michigan (5-2, 8-2) @WIS, OSU (5-4, 8-4)
Michigan State (5-2, 7-3) MARY, @RUT (7-2, 9-3)
Rutgers (3-4, 4-6) @IND, MSU (4-5, 5-7)
Maryland (2-5, 4-6) @MSU, PSU (2-7, 4-8)
Indiana (1-6, 4-6) RUT, PUR (1-8, 4-8)
Ohio State puts up a respectable result, but their case of being the best 2-loss team to make the Playoff is hampered by Auburn beating Georgia and a potential Big-12 Champ TCU. Michigan can play spoiler this week for Wisconsin, and the bottom is on life-support. Indiana has the easiest potential path, though.

WEST

pre:
Wisconsin (7-0, 10-0) MICH, @MINN, B1GCG (9-0, 12-1)
Northwestern (5-2, 7-3) MINN, @ILL (7-2, 9-3)
Iowa (3-4, 6-4) PUR, @NEB (5-4, 8-4)
Nebraska (3-4, 4-6) @PSU, IOWA (3-6, 4-8)
Minnesota (2-5, 5-5) @NW, WIS (2-7, 5-7)
Purdue (2-5, 4-6) @IOWA, IND (3-6, 5-7)
Illinois (0-7, 2-8) @OSU, NW (0-9, 2-10)
Wisconsin wins the West and remains the best hope for the Big Ten, if only because an undefeated conference champ is getting left out only if there's five of them. The middle of the pack still has some hopes, but Minnesota coming out of the APR pool might be their best shot at getting one in.

Baylor (1-6, 1-9) ISU, @TCU (1-8, 1-11)
Kansas (0-7, 1-9) OU, @OKST (0-9, 1-11)
Things went about as good as it could for the Big 12 this past weekend: their best team got a decisive win to put them on top, no real upsets in the lower ranks, and the Pac-12/Notre Dame took losses that put them out of the Playoff hunt. They now just need the Sooners to win out, beat either TCU or Oklahoma State in a B12CG rematch, and go from there. It wouldn't hurt if Baker Mayfield keeps putting up numbers, he's got to be the Heisman frontrunner at this point. Horns and Red Raiders look like it'll be a bowl-eliminator at the end, and it's one that Koach Kliffy K kan't afford to lose.

Stanford (6-2, 7-3) CAL, ND (7-2, 9-3)
Washington (5-2, 8-2) UTAH, WSU (7-2, 10-2)
Oregon (2-5, 5-5) ZONA, ORST (3-6, 6-6)
Cal (2-5, 5-5) @STAN, @UCLA (3-6, 6-6)
Oregon State (0-7, 1-9) ASU, @ORE (0-9, 1-11)
I told you Stanford was going to beat Washington, always listen to me I know everything. IIRC the situation goes like this: Wazzu wins the North if they win the Apple Cup, Stanford wins if they beat Cal and Washington beats Wazzu, and the Huskies win if Cal beats Stanford and they win the Apple Cup. Oregon just needs to win the Civil War, Cal needs to beat UCLA, and the Beavers need to find a coach.

SOUTH

pre:
USC (7-1, 9-2) UCLA, P12CG (8-1, 11-2)

Arizona State (4-3, 5-5) @ORST, ZONA (5-4, 6-6)
Utah (2-5, 5-5) @WASH, COL (3-6, 6-6)
UCLA (3-4, 5-5) @USC, CAL (3-6, 5-7)
Colorado (2-6, 5-6) @UTAH (2-7, 5-7)
Unlike the North, USC's taken care of business and will play in Santa Clara, the question is who they play. I think they can beat the Washington's, Stanford might be another issue. I'll put them on top for now. ASU took a bad loss against UCLA but can get in by taking care of business against Oregon State, it does open the door for the Bruins as it turns the Cal game into a bowl-eliminator.

Vanderbilt (0-6, 4-6) MIZZ, @TENN (1-7, 5-7)
I also told you that Auburn was going to beat Georgia because I am literally right about everything. It's not the end for the Dawgs and if they don't poo poo the bed and somehow beat Bama in the SECCG then they're safely in. Mizzou's on fire right now, partially because they're playing bad teams. RIP Lyle Jones.

Arkansas (1-5, 4-6) MSST, MIZZ (1-7, 4-8)
Bama made it interesting against #CLANGA, and now the Auburn game gets real interesting again. A&M's in, though Sumlin needs to win the last two games to keep his job, or at least have some leverage for a new one. It is a shame that Tennessee doesn't face Arkansas to end the year, Hoke vs. bert would be true clash of intellectual titans this country deserves, or we could grease them both up and have them wrestle at midfield and see if that doesn't get the nukes to fire themselves.

FAU still reigns and can clinch by beating FIU this weekend. Speaking of which, I'm guessing FIU will cancel their game against UMass if they win their last two and FAU loses their last two, since that'd give them the division and they'd have the CUSACG to play in. Old Dominion just needs to find an upset of MTSU to backdoor their way into a bowl.

Ohio looked real good at home against Toledo and just need to beat Akron to clinch the East and set up a probably rematch. Rose Bowl Jan. 1 Pasadena, Ca. #1 Alabama (SEC Champs) vs. #4 Miami (At-Large)
I finally change up the Playoff teams with Miami making their way in, despite taking a loss in the ACCCG against Clemson. Their one loss would be to a Playoff team and they don't have the bad loss that Ohio State does or whoever wins the Pac-12. Of course, the reward is Mark Richt taking another loss at the hands of Nick Saban so who knows. But The Chain is Civilization and Da []_[] is back and all that.

Cotton Bowl Dec. 29 Arlington, Tx. At-large vs. At-large Oklahoma State vs. USC
Two conference champs to take care of, Stanford and Ohio State, Stanford stays west in the Fiesta and Ohio State heads to the Orange as the highest ranked available team. Virginia Tech ends up filling the ACC's spot over Notre Dame due to the Irish losing at the end. UCF takes the Group of 5 spot and face Georgia in the Peach. Oklahoma State takes the Cotton over TCU, where the Pokes end up facing USC. Auburn, Penn State, Notre Dame and TCU end up being the ones left out.

And the rest.

We've got 78 teams for 78 spots and so the APR pool sits alone and unloved. Some okay bowls, the ones on New Years' Day have some possibilities to them, but nothing outstanding. There is the chance for a Rich Rod bowl in the Holiday between Zona and Michigan depending on how things play out.

Coming down to the wire. I'd say stuff's gonna be getting better but after Miami beat the piss out of Notre Dame we could end football now and I'd be happy. Also I can't cum anymore :ccb: :ccb: :ccb:

Would be slightly disappointed missing an NY6 (the deserved cost of that loving LSU game) but this would rule -- have never played, Auburn is actually the only modern national champion ND has never played. Supposedly have been trying for years to arrange a regular season game but it never happens.

Could switch WKU and MOH in that case, it's filling in a bowl spot in Texas.

This goes under the assumption that Notre Dame's access to the ACC's bowl package doesn't extend to the Orange, as they're on the Big Ten/SEC side of the picture of whoever's highest ranked. If I'm wrong, Notre Dame plays Ohio State in a major bowl again and Virginia Tech faces Auburn. Rather meh imo.
