About 3/4 of the way through my first build, went with the RG 00 Qan[T]. Considering that it’s my first foray into gunpla, it’s been surprisingly stress free (though I’ve heard this is one of the more beginner friendly RGs). I’m hooked already and my wife is simultaneously happy I’ve found a hobby to throw myself into while we watch tv together, but also knows I’m gonna be throwing money at this poo poo whenever I can justify it.

I may have missed it in the shuffle, but has anyone here built the Solomon Physalis MG and have any feedback? The mechanics, presentation, and gimmicks all look phenomenal. It’s way down my project/wish list, but I’m kinda champing at the bit to get one when it comes back in stock.

Yeah, I'd suspect it was a long way out, but given the multiple retail RGs for SEED Freedom already, I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the next couple years. On the other hand, the RGs have mostly been things that don't have HGs, so they might delay any RG release because of people thinking like you. That is, they would want to get all the HG sales they could from a big hit like this before putting out the RGs.

I could be wrong but I don’t think the Akatsuki counts as a Seed Freedom release, since it comes with the Oowashi Pack and I’m pretty sure it only uses the Shiranui Pack in the movie.

It’s still slightly nuts that the Impulse Spec 2 was a retail release.

good night, speedfriend

Katoki has to work on something for 2025 I would hope. Not much left to remaster in Unicorn but oddly if he stayed in that space like I'm sure many would lament he'd have to consider actually interesting things like the grunts and specialist suits. And we do need another MGEX... this said I'm calling MGEX Banshee with - somehow - a new frame ver ka.

Wow, I would absolutely not put the RG 00 Quan[T] as beginner friendly. I've built it a couple times. It.. won't reliably stand on it's own. The transformation for the shield, and getting solar reactors to line up are.. tricky. So are the decals?

I'm glad you like it. Be careful with the sheild latches.

Oh God, the HG is like 30cm+ long. A MG would be huge.

It's 57cm gently caress me.

I’m definitely not touching those decals until I have a reliable pair of precision tweezers, or better yet, some good markers for panel lining, accents, and whatnot. This is essentially a stripped down out of box build for me.

You’re right about it not standing so well on its own though. I just plan on having it nestled on my bookshelf (away from my cats, who have been “helping” me with my build so far) until I can work through more models and get a dedicated display space for them.

RG Sazabi FF was a fun build. The horn funnels feel ridiculous though, both in a good and bad way. Good because they're neat as poo poo. Bad because this is what they came up with to mirror the Nu FF's long-range fin funnel, which was already only a thing because the standard fin funnels wouldn't be possible in the giant Nu... sculpture? Animatronic? And the horn funnels come out ahead of the LRFF.

Not sure how true that assertion is but in any case, Freedom Freedom and Freedom Justice are likely just because there are already Freedom and Justice RGs to base them on so it's much lower effort to get those out the door.

It was such a simple change to make to the recent existing release that it feels like they had a different plan but this is an emergency substitution for some reason.

This is why I like my Federation grunts. Zeon suits get all the attention for being green, but the GM is just... box. And the variants include box wearing more box.

This is cool, but I was surprised when I clicked it and heard flint wheels running to generate the sparks at its feet. I figured they'd have used the same technique used on the 'flames' and just added a separate smoke generator.

Painted and put together the HG YF-19 a little while back:

Pretty happy with how it came out, especially the Isamu figure:

I did the battroid parts too but was too lazy to transform it for pictures this time around. I’ll display it in battroid mode fighting the YF-21 once I get around to painting that….whenever that is :negative:

So I may have just hosed my self, I gave Vallejo polyurethane varnish a go instead of their regular acrylic ones and after more than 24 hours I went to clean up my panel lines with my usual artists spirit and it’s taking the varnish straight off. Does polyurethane just not play with solvents the way an acrylic can? I only picked up the dumb stuff because people were saying it was more durable.

Synthbuttrange
May 6, 2007

its durable but I wouldnt use it to cover over stuff for panel lining, its pretty much a last step varnish.

Mr Teatime

Upon further testing it isn’t even the artists spirit. The varnish is coming off with gentle rubbing. The regular acrylic gloss coat I put down on another model at the same time is bomb proof as usual…am I missing something about polyeurthane because this is like the opposite of durable.

I've never ordered anything from P-Bandai, theoretically if one were to get that Black Knight Squad 3-pack, which presumably comes in a quite large box, what would be the ballpark on expected shipping cost to the US?
