that's what i'm saying, it is totally normal in the entertainment industry to internalize the idea that the abuse that happened to you was ultimately Okay because it got you what you wanted, and that the abuse you are currently doling out is Okay because ultimately, if they really want to be where you are, they will be willing to take it too. Like, everyone who is coming to Hollywood DOES want to be a star, that's why they are there. And, you (Sharon Stone) also wanted to be a star. Well, you had to do this horrible thing you didn't want to do to get what you wanted. So why should this other person be any different? They don't get to be exempt from that transaction, otherwise it will mean you didn't have to go through it to be famous either.

i get press releases in my inbox all the time as im, well, press. anyway, i got one a while ago for an art show sharon stone was doing in greenwich, connecticut. The weirdness around sex workers is just that, weird. Is it exploitative? Of course, all labor is exploitative in a capitalist society, and we should be working to stop that exploitation. If that were to occur, however, there will still be sex workers because some people actually like it! Not everyone, and certainly not even close to a majority, but I know plenty of women who would consider it. I mean, is it more exploitative to a) show your genitals to strangers on cam, b) gently caress a stranger with clean lab results and a condom, or c) work at a burger joint for $15/hr? I haven't even touched on the idea of legal, socialist prostitution happening in a larger, unionized framework, like a brothel or a temple or a guild or whatever. If people are willing with no coercion to sell sex and keep all the profits to themselves, who am I to either judge or argue? Edit: Hollywood delenda est.
