Man, I know the big rule of this game is "if you believe it you can achieve it" but goddamn at least before (back in the start of War of Underworld) that whole gimmick was just letting people do kinda minor amazing things like "keep going even after their HP reaches 0" or "your killing intent is so strong it can put a mind whammy on your opponent for a minute" over some fairly normal rules (even if those rules have some kinda Bleach-y bullshit regarding what swords can do). Now we're just throwing everything out the loving window and Kirito can
And the only people bound by any rules whatsoever are now minor characters (which it seems like Alice has been unfortunately downgraded to) that now definitely no longer matter. Sorry everyone else, I guess you can only be important if you have a ghost friend around. But whatever, I gotta say I got a good lol at the guy just shooting the console to beat the acceleration lock. Man, these Rath guys' entire operation plans suuuucked. Why would you even have an acceleration mode faster than you can observe? I feel like that defeats the purpose of the experiment. Or for that matter, why have an auto-log out for the satellite STLs but not your on-base one? I know the answer is "so the plot can happen and there's a time limit on only Kirito and Asuna", but all I ask is that if you're gonna make some dumb stakes, make them consistently dumb. I mean, telling Kirito his sister and all his other friends' lives are in danger is an equally good (if not even more powerful) motivator than telling him only he and Asuna have a time limit. e: Also so long to Leafa mattering at all I guess. All her scenes this season were tentacle porn and torture porn, and none of her friends even got to know she helped at all, great job guys. The recent plot developments make a little more sense if you stop looking at the show as purely sci-fi and start looking at it as something like Star Wars, where ghosts and mystical powers exist alongside futuristic technology.. I mean, it's still stupid but it's a fun kind of stupid IMO.

They have Acceleration past what they could conceivably monitor because their goal was to view the changes in this civilization over tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of years. If not more. They speed it up and then slow it down. to see what's changed. Can't exactly do that in a reasonable timeframe even with like 10 or 100X Edit: lmao I actually went to go look it up. Essentially it's just a bandwidth and network speed issue. quote:“In the maximum acceleration phase... the FLA rate is a hair above 5,000,000 times. The STLs connected by satellite from the Roppongi branch can’t support that kind of speed, so they should disconnect automatically... but as for Kirigaya-kun and Asuna-san, who are using the STLs in the OceanTurtle...” Dexo fucked around with this message at 16:09 on Aug 23, 2020 |

The stakes seem to be that there's a literal shelf life for the human soul. Like that's a quantifiable thing thing we just know as this story I guess just trips over the meaning of life on it's way to a puerile power fantasy.

End of Alicization spoilers and premise of next series spoiler. Kirito, Asuna, and Alice take on the survival MMO named «Unital Ring»! One month following Kirito and Asuna's return from «Underworld». Having obtained a physical body in the real world, Alice had joined their midst. However, their peace suddenly came to an end. "…………Level 1…………" "I also turned level 1!" The three of them were suddenly dragged into a mysterious game named «Unital Ring». This was a «Survival MMO» formed by «The Seed» program by fusing all other VRMMO games. Having lost all of his precious equipment at the start of the game, Kirito was left with nothing more than a pair of underwear. Under these dire circumstances, Kirito takes on the «VRMMOSVG» shrouded in mysteries! It's not a death game at least

What the hell kind of magic bullshit allows Kirito to not only save Alice's dragons but also lets him de-age them? Man the show frames it as good, and I guess it's better than death but honestly that's hosed up.Kazy posted:I kind of regret this. Show went 10000% full stupid as soon as he came back. "My friend Eugeo can help me! And I grew back my legs!" "Nuh uh, Eugeo was dead, remember?" "Well his ghost can help me beat you!" Like, we all made jokes about everything seeming like Bleach earlier on in the tower rush arc, which I guess is kinda accurate because this felt like later Bleach, like when it got bad (or when it got worse, depending on your attitude concerning Bleach). I'm intrigued to see how this all wraps up because while "Kirito and Asuna live together for the rest of their days" is kind of a happy ending, it is left melancholy by the fact that now they're gonna be Also while I'm like 90% sure that getting exploded will give Gabriel a mind gently caress like when Sugou got stabbed through the head with no pain inhibitors, it's kind of hilariously hosed that ultimately his failure means he gets logged out while Kirito gets trapped in a game again. I still can't get over the fact that there's auto logouts for every other character when the FLA activates but not on the STLs on the Ocean Turtle. Like, even if someone passes the brilliant one-key security system, if they know for a fact that the human soul can't handle that poo poo, maybe all the STLs should have that programmed in? Just a thought. edit: Got a good chuckle out of Administrator popping up on Kirito's Ghost Cheer Squad. "Remember when I tried to kill you and killed your friend? I made you stronger! This is a good thing!" TwoPair fucked around with this message at 04:54 on Aug 30, 2020 |

I have been down on this season so far but this episode had me grinning ear to ear. loving MechaKayaba! A microwave corridor sequence! MechaKayaba using the power of love or whatever to reactivate a robot with a dead battery and full of bullet holes! I love it. Can't wait for Mecha-Cyber-Hitler and Vassago-that-drank-from-the-wrong-Grail to be the true final showdown of the Sword Art Online franchise. I suppose the Fluctlight Acceleration is accurate because 1 episode in the "real world" has made me thoroughly happier than 10 episodes in Underworld. WHAT! That's not how POWER works. I can't yell at a loving dead 9 volt and then slap it back into a smoke detector for another month of juice! JESUS. So the end of this episode would have been good if they hadn't introduced this whole concept of loving souls having literal expiration dates. If the stakes had been something deeper and more esoteric like Kirito and Asuna are going to be stuck in the machine world for 300 years and when they log out they will be different people, ancient beings in young bodies and that maybe there's no human precedent for that kind of mental strain. Then maybe you've got a nice bittersweet ending there. But no, next episode is going to be about how to get them out before their Chakra Meter runs out of Sheut and the Valkyries come to install them in Heaven. EDIT: Asuna can FLY. Why did Kirito have to carry her like a doe-eyed damsel two episodes ago? AAARRRRGH

OK so I clearly don't get it. 1. Did they create a meat body for Alice to inhabit? Did they somehow vat grow a body based on a digital image of a program simulating a person? 2. So the whole fluctlight expiration date doesn't matter because they can just erase all those memories and make everything ok? 3. A machine can erase your memories. A MACHINE CAN JUST ERASE A SELECTIVE CLUSTER OF MEMORIES. Are we going to discuss the frighting implications of that?

I think they explicitly say that Alice has at least some metal. She talks about her heart bursting in her steel chest or something. Also in the opening her eye is like a camera aperture.

i watched the first chunk of episodes of this back when they aired and then saw the first episode of the new ones had the boring kirito is catatonic stuff. im assuming that all ends nice and neatly on episode 13 so he can make the mid season save when things are at their darkest. my question is: why should i care about those 13 episodes? i feel like ill lose nothing skipping ahead to kirito waking up because there will be no narrative tension. a couple of robot soul people will probably die but no one important. is there a klein episode i have to not skip? i like dumb garbage, but skippable dumb garbage is what i find the most offensive.
