I'm really excited and happy about North Texas and I really don't care what happens against FAU round 2 or whatever bowl game. Just nice to see the team not be a joke for once.

You people with your nationally ranked teams have my sympathies. I don't know what it's like to be disappointed in a one loss team.:)

Well of all the teams I root for (Georgia, Chargers, Titans, Braves, Hawks, Predators) only one has even competed for a title in the past couple decades (and there's a good chance the Predators were a fluke) so no, not really.

WINNINGEST BEVO
Crazy to think that if our defense hadn't inexplicably sucked poo poo against Maryland in week one, we'd currently be bowl eligible and 9 wins would still be a possible, if not particularly likely, outcome. As it stands, I give us about a 50/50 chance of beating WVU and/or Tech to limp into the Texas bowl. If we somehow won out, 8-5 would still be a really clear step forward from where the program's been and give us momentum going into the offseason.

lol seriously though we're gonna finish 5-7 again because the Longhorn Network is a horcrux in which DeLoss Dodds stored all his hubris, and its sinister influence compels everyone nearby to engage in acts of profitable mediocrity.

Week 12 - All Roads Lead to Florida State vs. Florida

ACC

ATLANTIC
pre:
Clemson (7-1, 10-1) @SC, MIA (7-1, 12-1)
NC State (5-2, 7-4) UNC (6-2, 8-4)
Wake Forest (4-3, 7-4) DUKE (5-3, 8-4)
Louisville (4-4, 7-4) @UK (4-4, 8-4)
Boston College (3-4, 6-5) @CUSE (4-4, 7-5)
Florida State (3-5, 4-6) @UF, ULM (3-5, 6-6)
Syracuse (2-5, 4-7) BC (2-6, 4-8)
Clemson just has to win the next two to make the Playoff. State drops one at Wake but I don't think it'll mean much, they're pretty much locked into the Camping World Bowl at this point. Now projecting Louisville over Kentucky and Cuse is formally out, which is good for them since it means Dino Babers won't be jumping ship after this year. Of course, it also means he needs to produce something other than a big-time upset in Year 3.

COASTAL

pre:
Miami (7-0, 10-0) @PITT, CLEM (8-0, 11-1)
Virginia Tech (4-3, 8-3) @UVA (5-3, 9-3)
Georgia Tech (4-4, 5-5) UGA (4-4, 5-6)
Virginia (3-4, 6-5) VT (3-5, 6-6)
Duke (2-5, 5-6) @WAKE (2-6, 5-7)
Pitt (2-5, 4-7) U (2-6, 4-8)
North Carolina (1-6, 3-8) @NCST (1-7, 3-9)
Miami keeps avoiding the trap games and needs to survive a trip to Pittsburgh to solidify a good postseason bowl, either the Orange or the Playoff. Georgia Tech keeps winning the ones they shouldn't and losing the ones they should, so watch them beat Georgia this weekend. Duke's played themselves back into the APR pool, but whether we need to dip our toes into those waters remains to be seen.

pre:
Notre Dame (9-2) @STAN (9-3)
Beat Stanford and the Irish are in a NY6 Bowl. Lose and it's probably the Citrus, which isn't too bad a consolation prize tbh.

ACC Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 10: Clemson, Miami, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, NC State, Wake Forest, Louisville, Boston College, Virginia, Florida State

BIG TEN

EAST

pre:
Ohio State (7-1, 9-2) @MICH, WISC (8-1, 10-2)
Penn State (6-2, 9-2) @MARY (7-2, 10-2)
Michigan State (6-2, 8-3) @RUT (7-2, 9-3)
Michigan (5-3, 8-3) OSU (5-4, 8-4)
Rutgers (3-5, 4-7) MSU (3-6, 4-8)
Indiana (2-6, 5-6) @PUR (2-7, 5-7)
Maryland (2-6, 4-7) PSU (2-7, 4-8)
Ohio State's trying to make up as much ground as possible but I don't know if it'll be enough, they'll need lots of help to somehow backdoor their way into the playoff. The dream isn't dead for Indiana and they just have to beat Purdue to make it in, but that's not the cakewalk it's been the past few years.

WEST

pre:
Wisconsin (8-0, 11-0) @MINN, OSU (9-0, 12-1)
Northwestern (6-2, 8-3) @ILL (7-2, 9-3)
Iowa (3-5, 6-5) @NEB (4-5, 7-5)
Nebraska (3-5, 4-7) IOWA (3-6, 4-8)
Minnesota (2-6, 5-6) WIS (2-7, 5-7)
Purdue (3-5, 5-6) IND (4-5, 6-6)
Illinois (0-8, 2-9) NW (0-9, 2-10)
The path for Wisconsin is clear: beat Minnesota and Ohio State and you're in the Playoff (and probably dying at the hands of Alabama). Minnesota's not dead but they've gotta pull off the mother of all upsets, and Purdue/Indiana is now a bowl-eliminator. Who woulda thunk it three months ago?

Big Ten Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 8: Ohio State, Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan State, Northwestern, Michigan, Iowa, Purdue

Big 12

pre:
Oklahoma (7-1, 10-1) WVU, TCU (8-1, 12-1)
TCU (6-2, 9-2) BAY, OU (7-2, 10-3)
Oklahoma State (5-3, 8-3) KU (6-3, 9-3)
Iowa State (5-3, 7-4) @KSU (6-3, 8-4)
West Virginia (5-3, 7-4) @OU (5-4, 7-5)
Texas (5-3, 6-5) TTU (6-3, 7-5)
Kansas State (4-4, 6-5) ISU (4-5, 6-6)
Texas Tech (2-6, 5-6) @TEX (2-7, 5-7)
Baylor (1-7, 1-10) @TCU (1-8, 1-11)
Kansas (0-8, 1-10) @OKST (0-9, 1-11)
The conference is getting the Oklahoma/TCU rematch they wanted (they really wanted a Bedlam rematch but this was Plan B), all they need is for the Sooners to not get tripped up against a QB-less Mountaineers team and to not lose the rematch and they're in. Pokes have played themselves out of a NY6 bowl spot, but TCU will probably fill their spot so nbd. K-State finds an upset and gets in, as does Texas. Koach Kliffy K probably needs to beat the Horns this weekend and give the B12 an eighth bowl team to keep his job. I don't know if I would bet on that happening.

Big 12 Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 7: Oklahoma, TCU, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, West Virginia, Texas, Kansas State

PAC-12

NORTH

pre:
Washington State (6-2, 9-2) @WASH (6-3, 9-3)
Stanford (7-2, 8-3) ND (7-2, 9-3)
Washington (6-2, 9-2) WSU (7-2, 10-2)
Oregon (3-5, 6-5) ORST (4-5, 7-5)
Cal (2-6, 5-6) @UCLA (3-6, 6-6)
Oregon State (0-8, 1-10) @ORE (0-9, 1-11)
Apple Cup decides the North, though if Washington wins it gives Stanford the division. Oregon upsets Arizona and is in a game early, Cal needs to win the eliminator at UCLA to clinch their spot.

SOUTH

pre:
USC (8-1, 10-2) P12CG (8-1, 11-2)
Arizona (5-3, 7-4) @ASU (6-3, 8-4)
Arizona State (5-3, 6-5) ZONA (5-4, 6-6)
Utah (2-6, 5-6) COL (3-6, 6-6)
UCLA (3-5, 5-6) CAL (3-6, 5-7)
Colorado (2-6, 5-6) @UTAH (2-7, 5-7)
USC's got the weekend off to wait and see who they face in the Pac-12 Championship Game; I think they beat Washington State but lose to Stanford, though an 11-2 Pac-12 champs USC doesn't overcome an 11-2 B1G champs Ohio State. Utah/Colorado's the other bowl eliminator this weekend; the conference is getting nine teams in, it's just a matter of who the last two are.

Pac-12 Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 9: USC, Washington, Stanford, Washington State, Arizona, Oregon, Arizona State, Cal, Utah

SEC

EAST

pre:
Georgia (7-1, 10-1) @GT, SECCG (7-1, 11-2)
South Carolina (5-3, 8-3) CLEM (5-3, 8-4)
Kentucky (4-4, 7-4) LOU (4-4, 7-5)
Missouri (3-4, 6-5) @ARK (4-4, 7-5)
Florida (3-5, 4-6) FSU (3-5, 4-7)
Tennessee (0-7, 4-7) VAN (0-8, 4-8)
Vanderbilt (0-7, 4-7) @TENN (1-7, 5-7)
Dawgs need to win their next two and they're probably in, which means the Jackets are going to get them this weekend. I'm not willing to put anything on that prediction however. If Florida somehow beats FSU in the World's Worst Game they'll probably try and schedule someone to get that sixth win. Tennessee and Vandy so someone can get a conference win, ooooof.

WEST

pre:
Alabama (7-0, 11-0) @AUB (8-0, 12-0)
Auburn (6-1, 9-2) BAMA (6-2, 9-3)
LSU (5-2, 8-3) A&M (6-2, 9-3)
Mississippi State (4-3, 8-3) MISS (5-3, 9-3)
Texas A&M (4-3, 7-4) @LSU (4-4, 7-5)
Ole Miss (2-5, 5-6) @MSST (2-6, 5-7)
Arkansas (1-6, 4-7) MIZZ (1-7, 4-8)
Iron Bowl decides the West for the first time since the Kick Six. Beating LSU probably saves Sumlin's job (or gives him leverage on trying to find a new one). See you in hell bert. See you in hell.

SEC Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 9: Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Missouri, Texas A&M, Kentucky

AMERICAN

EAST

pre:
UCF (7-0, 10-0) USF (8-0, 11-0)
South Florida (6-1, 9-1) @UCF (6-2, 9-2)
Temple (3-4, 5-6) @TULSA (4-4, 6-6)
East Carolina (2-5, 3-8) @MEM (2-6, 3-9)
UConn (2-5, 3-8) @CIN (2-6, 3-9)
Cincinnati (1-6, 3-8) UCONN (1-7, 3-9)
UCF/USF for all the marbles this weekend (and the probable Group of 5 Spot). Temple's gotta beat Tulsa and they're in.

WEST

pre:
Memphis (6-1, 9-1) ECU, AACCG (7-1, 10-1)
Houston (4-3, 6-4) NAVY (4-4, 6-5)
SMU (3-4, 6-5) TULANE (4-4, 7-5)
Navy (4-3, 6-4) @HOU, vARMY (5-3, 7-5)
Tulane (3-4, 5-6) @SMU (3-5, 5-7)
Tulsa (1-6, 2-9) TEM (1-7, 2-10)
Memphis clinches the West and will face one of the Florida teams for the 'Murca title and the Group of 5 spot. Tulane finds one of the two upsets they need, we'll see what happens in Dallas against SMU.

American Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 7: UCF, Memphis, South Florida, Houston, SMU, Navy, Temple

C-USA

EAST

pre:
FAU (7-0, 8-3) @CHA, UNT (8-0, 10-3)
Marshall (4-3, 7-4) USM (6-2, 9-3)
FIU (4-3, 6-4) WKU, UMASS (6-2, 9-3)
Western Kentucky (4-3, 6-5) FIU (4-4, 6-6)
Middle Tennessee (3-4, 5-6) ODU (4-4, 6-6)
Old Dominion (3-4, 5-6) @MTSU (3-5, 5-7)
Charlotte (1-6, 1-10) FAU (1-7, 1-11)
Lane Train continues on unencumbered and you have to start wondering if someone's gonna roll the dice and bring him in to run their program. Looking at you, Arkansas. FIU can now play UMass without having to worry about a pesky CUSACG getting in the way. MTSU/ODU's another bowl eliminator.

WEST

pre:
North Texas (6-1, 8-3) @RICE, CUSACG (7-1, 9-4)
UAB (5-2, 7-4) UTEP (6-2, 8-4)
Southern Miss (5-2, 7-4) @MAR (5-3, 7-5)
UTSA (3-4, 6-4) @LATECH (3-5, 6-5)
Louisiana Tech (3-4, 5-6) UTSA (4-4, 6-6)
Rice (1-6, 1-10) UNT (1-7, 1-11)
UTEP (0-7, 0-11) @UAB (0-8, 0-12)
Biggest development here is UTSA getting in, but that LaTech can beat the RoadRunners next weekend and get in themselves. Whole buncha C-USA teams going bowling this year and with only so many bowl bids, there's a chance not everyone finds a home.

C-USA Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 10: FAU, North Texas, Marshall, FIU, UAB, Southern Miss, Western Kentucky, UTSA, Middle Tennessee, Louisiana Tech

INDEPENDENTS

pre:
Army (8-3) NAVY (9-3)
BYU (3-9) @HAW (4-9)
UMass (4-7) @FIU (4-8)
Army's got a couple of weeks off to get ready for Army. UMass wins the Fail Bowl and good for them.

Independent Bowl Eligible Teams - 1: Army

MAC

EAST

pre:
Akron (5-2, 6-5) KENT (6-2, 7-5)
Ohio (5-2, 8-3) @BUF (6-2, 9-3)

Kent State (1-6, 2-9) @AKRON (1-7, 2-10)
Akron pulls off the upset and needs to beat hapless Kent State (or have Ohio lose to Buffalo) and they stun everyone and clinch the East. Beating the Bobcats does get the Buffs bowl eligible. No miracle run for Miami Ohio this season :(

WEST

pre:
Toledo (6-1, 9-2) WMU (7-1, 10-2)
Northern Illinois (6-1, 8-3) @CMU (7-1, 9-3)
Central Michigan (5-2, 7-4) NIU (5-3, 7-5)

Ball State (0-7, 2-9) MOH (0-8, 2-10)
Toledo clinches with a win over WMU or if NIU loses at CMU. And that's it!

MAC Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 6: Toledo, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Akron, Central Michigan, Western Michigan

MOUNTAIN WEST

MOUNTAIN

pre:

Wyoming (5-2, 7-4) @SJSU (6-2, 8-4)
Colorado State (5-3, 7-5)
Utah State (4-3, 6-5) @AF (5-3, 7-5)
Air Force (3-4, 4-7) USU (3-5, 4-8)
New Mexico (1-6, 3-8) @SDSU (1-7, 3-9)
Boise clinches but with two of the three American teams ranked above them, they'd need USF winning out to have the possibility of making the NY6, and in that scenario it's more likely they're jumped by the Bulls. CSU's regular season is over, Utah State's in, Air Force is out.

WEST

San Jose State (0-7, 1-11) WYO (0-8, 1-12)
We're getting the runback scenario where Fresno State and Boise State are playing two weekends in a row, and I believe better record hosts so either we're doing a home and home, or Boise's hosting both games, which is hilarious. UNLV upsets New Mexico and just needs to win the Fremont Street Cannon to make a bowl.

Idaho (2-4, 3-7) @NMSU, @GST (2-6, 3-7)
Georgia Southern (1-5, 1-9) @ULL, @CCU (1-7, 1-11)
Texas State (1-6, 2-9) @TROY (1-7, 2-10)
Coastal Carolina (1-6, 2-9) GSO (2-6, 3-9)

All of a sudden ULL looks like they might break into what's been a pretty solid top four of the conference. They just need to beat a hapless Georgia Southern team and they're in. Georgia State/App this weekend, Arky State/Troy next, and the odds of having to split the Fun Belt title up multiple ways are pretty good. New Mexico State isn't dead but they gotta win out, which isn't impossible nor improbable.

College Football Playoff

pre:
Sugar Bowl Jan. 1 New Orleans, La. #2 Oklahoma (Big 12 Champs) vs. #3 Clemson (ACC Champs)
Rose Bowl Jan. 1 Pasadena, Ca. #1 Alabama (SEC Champs) vs. #4 Miami (At-Large)
No reason to change this with no real shakeup at the top. The ACC needs Clemson to beat Miami to get two in, since a two-loss Clemson team has a chance of getting jumped by an 11-2 Ohio State.

pre:
Peach Bowl Jan. 1 Atlanta, Ga. At-large vs. At-large UCF vs. Georgia
Orange Bowl Dec. 30 Miami, Fl. ACC vs. SEC/B1G/ND Virginia Tech vs. Ohio State
Fiesta Bowl Dec. 30 Glendale, Az. At-large vs. At-large Stanford vs. Wisconsin
Cotton Bowl Dec. 29 Arlington, Tx. At-large vs. At-large TCU vs. USC
The only change here is TCU replacing Oklahoma State in the Cotton. It is worth keeping an eye on the Orange and what happens with Virginia Tech and NC State. Hokies were unranked in the last poll while State was at 19, but the Pack lost this past weekend. If State's still ranked come this Tuesday then they're probably getting the Orange; while beating UNC isn't impressive I don't see the Hokies jumping them off the strength of beating UVA. Of course, if Notre Dame's access to the ACC's bowl package includes their spot in the Orange then this is all a moot point, but considering they're listed with the Big Ten and SEC as a possible opponent I don't think it is. Penn State is the one looking in and the committee would have to jump TCU over them, but I don't see the Big Ten getting three in while the Big 12 only gets one.

And the rest.

For the first time this season we're actually over in bowl-eligible teams, so UNLV and Georgia State end up drawing the short straws and stay at home. With 70 teams currently eligible and four bowl-eliminators for this weekend we're guaranteed 74 teams at minimum, meaning four spots will be up for grabs this weekend.

pre:
Miami (7-1, 10-1) CLEM (7-1, 11-2)
Virginia Tech (5-3, 9-3)

Duke (2-5, 5-6) @WAKE (2-6, 5-7)
North Carolina (1-6, 3-8) @NCST (1-7, 3-9)
Miami's been flirting with disaster all season and it finally bites them at Pitt. The good news for the U is that barring the Committee dumping them way down the way, they're still in the Playoff if they beat Clemson next week. They just need to do that and hope that the two losses don't dump them behind Virginia Tech and out of the Orange/into the Citrus. GT needs a miracle (one that comes on a somewhat regular basis though) while Duke has to win their eliminator.

pre:
Notre Dame (9-2) @STAN (9-3)
Beat Stanford and the Irish are in a NY6 Bowl. Lose and it's probably the Citrus, which isn't too bad a consolation prize tbh.

Illinois (0-8, 2-9) NW (0-9, 2-10)
Nebraska's season, and thus the tenure of Mike Riley, are thankfully over. Minnesota needs a legit miracle, Purdue needs to win their in-state rivalry.

Baylor (1-8, 1-11)
Kansas (0-8, 1-10) @OKST (0-9, 1-11)
The biggest development here, besides TCU cementing their rematch against the Sooners, is that the Red Raiders did actually upset Texas and thus the conference is sending eight, which is going to have ramifications on the Group of 5.

#CLANGA hits Worst Case Scenario as they lose the Egg Bowl and their QB to a dislocated ankle, which is going to make them less attractive to a bowl. And if you'll indulge me, a word:

gently caress you, you fat piece of poo poo. You fat worthless piece of poo poo. You dumb motherfucker. You stupid dumb worthless motherfucker. You are the dumbest pile of trash I've ever seen make a sad, pathetic excuse as to why the limp-dicked fucks you recruited and "coached" up went out and poo poo themselves. You are pathetic. You are complete garbage. The world would be a better place without you. You, somehow, are living proof that no matter how fat, dumb, and stupid you are, if you believe enough of your bullshit some stupid motherfucker with lots of dollars but no sense will give you a pile of money so you and set it on fire. I hope the bad things in life happen to you and only you. I hope your wife leaves you now that the sausage gravy train has pulled out of your gaping maw and left the station. I hope she takes your daughter too, or at least CPS does because they've seen how you handle young people, in no way, shape or form should you be allowed to ruin another life. I know that you're gonna get a TV gig next year because you're willing to say some stupid poo poo that'll get people ornery on Twitter and somehow parlay that into another coaching gig that you have no business being considered qualified for, because the only time you were worth half a poo poo as a coach is when Barry Alvarez has his hand so far up your rear end he could open your mouth by flicking his fingers and that's literally the only way a decent playcall came out of those jowls of yours. If it wasn't for capitalism's obsession with money = meaning you'd be the most useless pile of trash on this planet. You pillock. You obese failure. I'd say I would hope for your heart to fail but I've seen your teams in the second half and just like you they ain't got a ticker. Find a pig farm and take a swim in the septic tank, believe me no one would notice a difference in the smell coming from the results page. The next worthwhile thing you do in your life will be the first and I don't have money on that happening ever. If there was a God and you were created in his image we would burn every holy book in existence. Never coach again, never speak again, never breathe again. gently caress. You.

Miami Ohio (4-4, 5-7)
Bowling Green (2-6, 2-10)
Kent State (1-7, 2-10)
Ohio's collapse doesn't just give Akron the division, it gets the Buffs bowl eligible! The bad news is that we probably won't have a spot for them but it's the thought that counts. Kent State actually fires Paul Haynes and will be led by a coat rack next season, who will also win 11 games in five years.

Toledo's gonna be favored big over the Zips next week. CMU beats NIU to jump them in the standings, and give how the bowl assignments might pan out that could be the difference between bowling and staying at home.

College Football Playoff

pre:
Sugar Bowl Jan. 1 New Orleans, La. #2 Oklahoma (Big 12 Champs) vs. #3 Clemson (ACC Champs)
Rose Bowl Jan. 1 Pasadena, Ca. #1 Alabama (SEC Champs) vs. #4 Ohio State (Big Ten Champs)
Miami's loss ends the ACC's dreams of being the first conference to have two in. From there it's expectations, Bama wins out to rep the SEC, Clemson beats Miami to rep the ACC, Oklahoma beats TCU again to rep the Big 12. Then all of the dominoes fall for Ohio State; they beat Wisconsin, Miami loses again, Georgia and Auburn both lose to Alabama, Notre Dame falls against Stanford. Everyone Ohio State needs to lose does and a year after getting into the Playoff without winning the Big Ten East, much less the conference, they become the first team in after taking two losses, one of which was really bad. And we might as well write Ohio State's name in for this every year.

pre:
Peach Bowl Jan. 1 Atlanta, Ga. At-large vs. At-large UCF vs. Georgia
Orange Bowl Dec. 30 Miami, Fl. ACC vs. SEC/B1G/ND Miami vs. Wisconsin
Fiesta Bowl Dec. 30 Glendale, Az. At-large vs. At-large Stanford vs. Penn State
Cotton Bowl Dec. 29 Arlington, Tx. At-large vs. At-large Notre Dame vs. Auburn
UCF still faces Georgia in the Peach. Miami falls to the Orange where they face Wisconsin, who remain above Penn State and Auburn after the B1GCG. Stanford wins the Pac-12 over USC and face Penn State. The Cotton is interesting with Auburn, Notre Dame, USC and TCU all coming off of losses, the latter two in conference championships. The only good news is that the teams currently below them in the Playoff rankings, Washington State and Mississippi State, are coming off losses this weekend and have no real ammo to jump in. In the end, the higher ranked teams make the Cotton as Notre Dame faces Auburn, leaving the Pac-12 and Big 12 at just 1 rep overall.

And the rest.

Week 13 Mostly Post Saturday Edition

Legend:
Bold = Eligible
Italics = Projected Eligible
Strike = Ineligible

ACC

ATLANTIC
pre:
Clemson (7-1, 11-1) MIA (7-1, 12-1)
NC State (6-2, 8-4)
Louisville (4-4, 8-4)
Boston College (4-4, 7-5)
Wake Forest (4-4, 7-5)
Florida State (3-5, 5-6) ULM (3-5, 6-6)
Syracuse (2-6, 4-8)
Clemson dominates the Cocks and heads to Charlotte to face Miami in what's certainly a win and in situation. FSU just needs to beat ULM in their rescheduled game and they can limp into a bowl, and even though we're at capacity there's room for the Noles at the expense of someone else.

COASTAL

pre:
Miami (7-1, 10-1) CLEM (7-1, 10-2)
Virginia Tech (5-3, 9-3)
Georgia Tech (4-4, 5-6)
Virginia (3-5, 6-6)
Pitt (3-5, 5-7)
Duke (3-5, 6-6)
North Carolina (1-7, 3-9)
Technically Georgia Tech isn't eliminated and they can scramble and schedule someone at the last second or apply for a waiver, but I doubt it would be approved. Regardless they avoid the dreaded strikeout in a rare act of charity from me. Duke upsets Wake in Winston to give the ACC another bowl team and dick over another mid-major, as the rich are wont to do.

pre:
Notre Dame (9-3)
Reminder that I said from the start that Stanford was going to beat Notre Dame because I am still literally right about everything. It's not completely out of the question that a 9-3 Notre Dame somehow makes a NY6 bowl, but the Citrus is most likely.

ACC Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 11: Clemson, Miami, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, NC State, Louisville, Boston College, Wake Forest, Florida State, Virginia, Duke

BIG TEN

EAST

pre:
Ohio State (8-1, 10-2) WISC (8-1, 11-2)
Penn State (7-2, 10-2)
Michigan State (7-2, 9-3)
Michigan (5-4, 8-4)
Rutgers (3-6, 4-8)
Indiana (2-7, 5-7)
Maryland (2-7, 4-8)
Ohio State might be in a bit of trouble if JT Barrett's meniscus injury hinders him, but no reason to not expect the Buckeyes to beat Wisconsin and get into the Playoff because that's the way life works.

WEST

pre:
Wisconsin (9-0, 12-0) OSU (9-0, 12-1)
Northwestern (7-2, 9-3)
Iowa (4-5, 7-5)
Purdue (4-5, 6-6)
Nebraska (3-6, 4-8)
Minnesota (2-7, 5-7)
Illinois (0-9, 2-10)
Wisconsin ran the table, but the real test comes next Saturday. Win and their in, lose and it's off to the NY6 bowls.

Big Ten Bowl Eligible Teams - 8: Ohio State, Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan State, Northwestern, Michigan, Iowa, Purdue

Big 12

pre:
Oklahoma (8-1, 11-1) TCU (8-1, 12-1)
TCU (7-2, 10-2) OU (7-2, 10-3)
Oklahoma State (6-3, 9-3)
Iowa State (5-4, 7-5)
West Virginia (5-4, 7-5)
Kansas State (5-4, 7-5)
Texas (5-4, 6-6)
Texas Tech (3-6, 6-6)
Baylor (1-8, 1-11)
Kansas (0-9, 1-11)
The Big 12 Conference Championship Game has been a house of horrors for the conference in the past and if TCU beats Oklahoma they could be in danger again. K-State upsetting Iowa State moves the Wildcats up and most likely sends Texas Tech off to the wilderness of having to find a bowl themselves. Of course, Texas being Texas means the Cats still might have to find their own game as well.

Big 12 Bowl Eligible Teams - 8: Oklahoma, TCU, Oklahoma State, Texas, Iowa State, West Virginia, Kansas State, Texas Tech

PAC-12

NORTH

pre:
Stanford (7-2, 9-3) USC (7-2, 10-3)
Washington (7-2, 10-2)
Washington State (6-3, 9-3)
Oregon (4-5, 7-5)
Cal (2-7, 5-7)
Oregon State (0-9, 1-11)
Everything works out for Stanford and now they're playing USC for a bid in an NY6 bowl, since Stanford's probably heading to the Holiday otherwise. Cal ends up losing to UCLA and thus they're done.

SOUTH

pre:
USC (8-1, 10-2) STAN (8-1, 10-3)
Arizona State (6-3, 7-5)
Arizona (5-4, 7-5)
UCLA (4-5, 6-6)
Utah (2-6, 5-6) COL (3-6, 6-6)
Colorado (2-6, 5-6) @UTAH (2-7, 5-7)
It's kinda bizarre to think that ASU's thinking of firing Todd Graham; I know he's only been mediocre but that's better than they were under Dennis Erickson and to fire someone after winning six conference games is pretty out there, and all this speculation is going to do is trigger Graham's wanderlust and if he doesn't bolt this offseason, he's all but gone after next. UCLA makes a bowl but no one cares since Chip Kelly is coming to town. Utah and Colorado is ongoing with the winner getting in, it kinda matters in that Mormons travel, Utah's up big as I write this so I'll project them in.

Pac-12 Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 9: Stanford, USC, Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Arizona State, Arizona, UCLA, Utah

SEC

EAST

pre:
Georgia (7-1, 11-1) AUB (7-1, 11-2)
South Carolina (5-3, 8-4)
Kentucky (4-4, 7-5)
Missouri (4-4, 7-5)
Florida (3-5, 4-7)
Vanderbilt (1-7, 5-7)
Tennessee (0-8, 4-8)
Georgia avoids the trap against GT and is rewarded with a team that beat the piss out of them a couple of weeks ago. Florida's finally put out of our misery and Tennessee hits rock bottom.

WEST

pre:
Auburn (7-1, 10-2) UGA (7-1, 11-2)
Alabama (7-1, 11-1)
LSU (6-2, 8-4)
Mississippi State (4-4, 8-4)
Texas A&M (4-4, 7-5)
Ole Miss (3-5, 6-6)
Arkansas (1-7, 4-8)
Auburn pulls off another upset and is in a win and in situation against Georgia. Bama's not out but they have no wins over a top 10 team on their resume and that's probably going to be enough to keep them out of the Playoff for the first time ever.

SEC Bowl Eligible Teams - 9: Auburn, Georgia, Alabama, LSU, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Missouri, Texas A&M, Kentucky

AMERICAN

EAST

pre:

App beats Georgia State to all but clinch a share of the Fun Belt title, unless they poo poo the bed against ULL, who shat the bed themselves against Georgia Southern and will most likely miss a bowl now. New Mexico State really benefits from the Fun Belt having a tie-in with the Arizona Bowl, otherwise they'd probably be SOL tbh.

Sun Belt Projected Bowl Eligible Teams - 5: Arkansas State, App State, Troy, Georgia State, New Mexico State

College Football Playoff

Sugar Bowl Jan. 1 New Orleans, La. #1 Clemson (ACC Champs) vs. #4 Ohio State (Big Ten Champs)
Rose Bowl Jan. 1 Pasadena, Ca. #2 Oklahoma (Big 12 Champs) vs. #3 Auburn (SEC Champs)
So the committee is really hoping that Clemson/Georgia/Oklahoma/Wisconsin all win next week because then the field is set and they just have to seed. We all know that's not going to happen. Clemson/Miami is win and in unless they really punish Miami for their loss. SEC is probably win and in as well. Big 12 could get left out if Oklahoma loses to TCU but I'm not thinking that'll happen. Ohio State beating Wisconsin knocks the Badgers out and creates a conundrum between the Buckeyes and Alabama; you can justify a two-loss Ohio State getting in if we're letting Auburn in, but you can justify a one-loss team over a conference champ because Ohio State did that last year as well. What I think this comes down to is that Alabama's lack of quality wins weighs more than how badly Ohio State got the poo poo beat out of them by Iowa, plus I don't think the committee is going to put two in from one conference unless absolutely necessary, and we all know they do what they want and then argue their way backwards. But Ohio State will never not be in the playoffs going forward, dealwithit.gif

Cotton Bowl Dec. 29 Arlington, Tx. At-large vs. At-large Penn State vs. TCU
Alabama falls to 5 and thus heads to the Orange, where Miami's reward for their great season is being beaten half to death. UCF beats Memphis and heads to the Peach against Georgia, who play three consecutive games in Atlanta. Stanford represents the Pac-12 in the Fiesta facing Wisconsin in the biggest big boy game possible. Penn State heads to the Cotton where it's either USC, Notre Dame or TCU they face, with USC and TCU coming off championship game losses. The Irish beat USC so that eliminates them, and TCU's body of work and being 10-3 outranks the Irish not having that 13th *~*~dATa pOiNt*~*~, plus TCU being in the area, and they make the Cotton over the Irish.

And the rest.

We're three over and thus Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, and Buffalo end up being left behind. Kinda sucks for WKU that they get left out over just-in LaTech but that's the local draw for you. Also Northwestern/Iowa end up getting dicked over by the Big Ten's rotation process and end up going to a lesser bowl than they should, since they've recently been to the one they would normally go to. We end up with Notre Dame vs. Texas in the Camping World, UCLA going across the country to the Belk, South Carolina vs. Michigan in the Outback five years after the Clowney hit, and FSU killing themselves for six wins just to go to lovely Shreveport.

One more of these next week and then we're off to actual bowl season!!! :toot:

One of the Florida ones I would think. Either Citrus or Outback.

I think Purdue winning saved Iowa from the garbage Pinstripe Bowl. Sounds like probably either Music City or Holiday. I’d prefer Holiday for obvious reasons but most of the fanbase seems to want Music City.

They're third in line behind Ohio State and Wisconsin, both of whom will be either Playoff or NY6 bound. It depends on who gets the Orange; if a B1G team gets the Orange the ACC gets the Citrus and Sparty goes to the Outback bowl; if SEC gets the Orange than B1G gets the Citrus and Sparty would make sense there. FWIW I think Bama ends up at 5, and being the highest-ranked SEC/B1G/ND team available puts them in the Orange, opening the path to the Citrus for Sparty and moving everyone up one.

So it's Florida bound for Sparty, just a matter of where. I'd prefer not Jacksonville but that's just me.

PSU has a good shot at a NY6 spot which would leave MSU with the highest non-NY6 Big Ten Bowl.

Trying to project Big Ten Bowls is super hard and confusing now because they changed the rules. They have a lot of split tie ins and they set it up so teams have to rotate around and can’t be in the same game twice in a certain period, to avoid the situation from the mid 00s when wisconsin or Iowa was in the outback bowl like every goddamn year.

Pretty much this, hard to see Penn State not heading to a NY6 bowls, which means what I said is still in effect, just with Sparty fourth in line instead of third but nothing changing.

They had one for a few years in the early 2000s, but nobody went there and they couldn't hold any sponsorship. Turns out Seattle weather doesn't make it an attractive vacation spot in the middle of December.
