But really, what is this progression system? You unlock additional star card slots by having more and higher ranked cards for a class. Class-specific loot boxes have different costs and they are just more likely to have loot for that class, not guaranteed. You must have player rank 10, 15, or 20 to craft tier 2, 3, or 4 cards. You can still get tier 2 or 3 cards from boxes and equip them though. Weapons are unlocked by number of kills with a class, weapon attachments by kills with the weapon. Heroes are unlocked with massive sums of credits. It's just all over the place....

Regardless, even if the maps are smaller, having to basically hang out at spawn while the rest of your squad gets killed and respawns is idiotic. Especially when on that demo map you could spawn on complete opposite sides of the road.

I'm a bit confused on why people claim they aren't able to play with friends. While there is no ability to spawn on people you can still see who your friends are and coordinate with them over Discord or a different VoIP program. My friends and I had no trouble pushing objectives together during the beta and they never play first person shooters. And looking at the maps I'm glad there's no Squad spawning. The maps seem pretty tight and I personally think squad spawning would throw everything off.

But there is no way you could reliably team with friends during the first phase of the demo map. Is it possible? Sure it can happen, but I don't play games with my friends for the off-chance I can occasionally play with them. edit: VVV yes that.

Canceled my preorder after the beta, but over the past couple of days I decided I'll just buy it anyway. But I saw this video today, which despite the baitclick title, pretty fairly shows some of the unlockables being way overpowered. I don't really care if people want to pay to unlock things quickly, but things like 50% less time to lock on as a spaceship and a 100% boost on health regen time? Just seems like breaking into this game is going to be too frustrating, especially with how poorly some of the weapons were often balanced for the last game during certain patches. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GynsazTkww I'm not trying to convince anyone not to buy or enjoy the game themselves, I'm just really personally disappointed as someone who put nearly 300 hours into the first game and was amped for this one more than any other game coming out. I'd rather pay for a season pass or DLC.

I'm fine with loot crates for the most part, and after the announcement that there would be changes to the system I was still optimistic. A lot of the new info though....sheesh. Especially the rate of earned credits, and even if you did want to actually buy loot boxes you have to buy a secondary currency in even amounts, when the boxes all cost odd amounts. Its much scummier than I thought. With all that in mind having the heroes not unlocked and them costing ridiculous amounts to unlock the ability to ever use feels pretty bad. Unfortunately, it appears I can't cancel my preorder after contacting support, so it looks like I'll wind up getting burned on this.

My suggestion is to not read online discussions on loot crates and star cards and just buy everything through Amazon and decide for yourself. Then you have 30 days to return it and you aren't going into the game with negative expectations because you read a bunch of insane peoples ravings against anything monetary in a video game.

I forgot I bought something on there and did a charge back with a bunch of other stuff and Sony was not pleased. My account was frozen and I had to call them to get it sorted out and it involvd buying PS money on Amazon and using that to then pay the negative balance back before they fixed my account. Ever since then I haven't been able to purchase stuff on the PS Store without using gift cards. My CC/Paypal/debit card will not work on there anymore.

Honestly as long as the new maps retain the fanatical fidelity of the previous games and the general sense of mad chaos, I'm in. I like my Red Orchestras and PUBGs as much as the next guy, but sometimes I just want a Star Wars game I can tool around in while blazed out of my mind. Did they keep Walker Assault? That was actually a pretty fun mode, once they got the balance in an okay place.
