Tipping culture loving sucks, it creates constant awkward social situations, it's unclear where the money goes and now every drat card reader begs for tips on every transaction. I'm a coward so I always tip 15-20%.

I remember delivering pizza, pulling up in front of customers houses and seeing those Ontario or Michigan plates and knowing I’d be getting the literal change at best. Everyone should have to work a service job at least once to know what it is to live on tips.

Mumpy Puffinz posted:no one should ever have to live off of tips. You should be paid a living wage When you think about it, having a regular job is sort of just like being tipped too. Just very consistently. If you do good at your job, you could get a bonus (bigger tip). And if you really suck at your job, they could fire you (no tip).

I tip at least 15 percent to a waiter, bartender, etc. usually closer to 20. I’ll throw a delivery at least 5-10 bucks depending on how far they have to go to get the food. gently caress tipping for pickup. It made sense as a solidarity move during the pandemic, but now that capital has determined the crisis is over, I’m not going to add an extra fee when I’m basically just coming to get my own drat food. The people (and I use the term lightly) who justify their lack of tipping at sit down restaurants with “HURRR GET A DIFFERENT JOB” never seem to consider that if the staff takes their advice, who the gently caress is going to bring them their cheesy cheesy pork nacho tacos at Applebees or whatever the gently caress?

I'll tip a ton for bartenders and other service staff like that but it's weird when I go to buy edibles and an option comes up to tip them and the only choices are 15 or 20%. All you did was take out what I asked for from a drawer right next to the cash register. I understand why it's an option because I know people come in there and ask a lot of questions so you might deserve a tip for the customer service but I probably know more about weed than they do.
