    One thing i want to know though, is the effects of the curse negated in some way depending on how many times you get hit by it, or is everyone who goes to the 4th layer and back just like "oh look, i'm hemorrhaging blood again" every time. that seems like it would be pretty inconvenient. How slow do you have to go to minimize the effects, it seems really impractical to stay at a deeper level any longer than you have to, given that you likely have to hunt things. Unless things are really flat usually, or there is those little weird rodents everywhere like in the third layer.

I mean, it seemed to sort of fade in more gradually when Riko was climbing that hill, only really reaching the full impact of hallucinations, etc. toward the end.

I don't think that elevator is for transportation at all, purely for experimenting and loving around with the Curse. I haven't read the manga tho, that's just going off what we were shown in the anime. Nanachi's explanation of the curse as film that "hits" you once you break through it makes sense though and makes that rapid ascent much scarier.

For the kids at least. Bonedude is seen on the surface with whistle+outfit and all, so unless he took a trip up manually through the abyss, it may be survivable but extremely uncomfortable with the elevator for adults. ^^^ That's another thing entirely, is it a direct trip down or is there stops along the way, if it's a direct trip they shouldn't really need any escorts for wildlife.

Once you "pierce" the invisible energy field you get hit by the full effect. But if you pierce multiple fields (by ascending a great deal) then it's worse.

I assume the elevator does get used but not a lot. Itd only be used by purple and white whistles anyway since theyd be the only ones skilled enough to climb back up. You cant use it to get back up because the curse would just kill the passangers.
