I personally found magic spearhand and especially fighter dealing very low damage. But it could definitely be user error, I am trash.
Thief is kinda OP but also the skill set and the dodge make it really fun to play. I avoid using the ultimate ability though, game is easy enough as is.

"Sperepelote" is I think the only Spearhand ability word I still have trouble parsing. At least the upgraded version is just "Speregonne" which is a lot easier to parse.

"Pelota" is Spanish for "ball" and shares a root with "pellet." Etymology! :eng101:

It is kind of weird how they bothered separating the sides but nobody actually cares if you jump the fence.

There's also a unique item if you charge through the hot springs without paying and go down the hill on the other side.

Though, the dragon statue bugged out and there was no rubble and instead the brine just yeeted me out of there lol. I bet Disa is similarly Not Mad, I sort of forgot about her and Wilhelmina.

Tbf, that guy wasn't really evil? He essentially had a similar goal, and just didn't care about loving up the political situation in Vermund to achieve it (though I'm not even sure if it makes since to say he hosed it up, since "making the Arisen Monarch" isn't exactly inherently more justifiable than Disa or her son).

I guess there's the "making slaves out of Pawns" stuff - that's the one thing that is pretty morally wrong that comes to mind. Though I'm not sure how much he had a part in that.

Hej min vän, hur står det till?
The villain ends up being a lot less interested in trying to rule anything so much as he wants freedom from the current order, and learning the secrets of the world. He's not delusional enough to try again after he got his rear end handed to him by the actual dragon, because he's actually quite smart an antagonist.

Oh is that who those named parties I keep passing on the road are? I assumed they were supposed to be just groups of adventurers out doing their own thing, I didn't realize they were pretending to be the Arisen(?) though now the sign on the road saying to beware of false Arisen makes more sense

Yeah it isn't really clear that's what they are supposed to be, though apparently if you kill some they'll show up in the monster kills page as false arisen. Some of them are kind of funny, like the grandma squad that hangs out north of Harve.

I've only ever ended up in a fight with one group of them and I don't really know what kicked that off, I had assumed they were just typical bandits but just with better gear, except after they died I realized they had their own names and that there was an option to revive them. So I revived one who stood up, warned me to watch myself and stalked away pissed off and I was very, very confused

Hey, Johnny, what's a "shitpost"?
How are people feeling about the game's performance now, a couple months after launch? For me on PC, I don't know if it was the patch this week or the video driver update I got around the same time, but the game is now mostly performing at a fairly solid 60fps with some drops in Vernworth, where previously I would get down to like 15fps for long periods of time at launch.

Okay, I know I’m wayyyy behind on this, but I just picked this up. Is there really no way to get back to major towns without trekking alllllllll the way back? I’m still VERY early (first trip to nameless town after a random escort quest) so portcrystals aren’t exactly around.

Any way of making them fun or exciting? Was googling it and someone suggested using a new vocation on the way back which sounds enticing for now. But at a certain point those get leveled too. Can you find random oxcarts roaming to jump on or something if you just want to get to your destination?

You’ll eventually get plenty of ferrystones which are an instant teleport to a portcrystal, although there are only 2 preplaced portcrystals in the game so you’ll still be dependent on ferrystoning to the capital and then taking an oxcart from there a lot of the time

Oh I didn't know you could do that mid-trip! I've only ever asked them when they're at the stations and if they've just arrived they tell you to gently caress off and wait till the morning (fair enough!) so it never occurred to me they'd be willing to pick you up on the road!

Here I was getting mildly irritated by my pawns wistfully going,"Oh master, do you think we could just take the cart?" when we met them on the road too :sweatdrop:

Yeah if you find one out on the road you just have to hop in and sit down, and they'll stop and ask for payment for the trip, then you're good.

What's really funny about those oxcart pawn lines is hearing them when you're sitting in the cart and your pawns are at the front and rear guard, then it sounds passive aggressive as hell.

:catstare: I hear the view from the back of an oxcart is superb. I'd love a chance to doze off as the hills roll by.

Anyone have any noobie tips not mentioned in the OP? I started the game today, I’ve just made it to the capitol and gotten the four quests from the captain there. My adventure so far has consisted of a lot of walking along and killing goblins every 15 feet, though with flair (I’m a thief). I’ve completed a couple of hired pawn quests but none yet for my main pawn.

- You need a camping kit to use a camping fire in the wilderness. You can keep using the same kit forever as long as it doesn't get destroyed during an attack in the night.

- Any perishable items you pick up will not age if you put them into permanent storage at an inn (fruit doesn't become ripe, and meat doesn't become aged, but they also won't rot).

- Resting at an inn creates a separate save file to the one you have if you just use the 'save game' option from the menu. If you die or choose to reload, there is a 'load game' or 'load last inn save' option. (You can't use this method to have 2 different characters).

- If you sleep at a player owned house, it is the same as sleeping at an inn and will save the game. These houses also have a storage container which holds the same items regardless of what town or city it is located in (the same stored items are accessible from every storage container at an inn or player home around the world).

- Even if you have no hard hitting moves designed for knocking over big enemies, you can still just grab hold of a leg or something without climbing onto them, and try to pull them over (works best if they are already off balance). Pawns see this as a valid strategy and might try to do it in the future.

- The Archer class has some moves that require ammo, you can build it yourself if you have the right ingredients or just buy it pre-made from shops. Archer Pawns also need this ammo to use those particular abilities, but afaik they won't build any for themselves.

- When you visit the vocation guild to choose a new class/vocation, they will give you all of the starting gear and a weapon to use, so if you're thinking of trying out mage, fighter, archer, etc there's no need to buy any equipment in advance.

- When you do decide to change your vocation, make sure to equip your passive abilities again because they all get removed (and I think are saved per vocation so you won't have to set them all every time).

Sounds like you're getting Dragon's Dogpiled. Other people have reported that happening, and they were able to reset it, though I don't know what they did. Maybe try resting at an inn and reloading the game.

You could of course also hire my super powerful pawn to help you make short work of these guards

By chance do you have the quest active where you must talk to the jailed fella? That also happened to me after I escaped without interacting. Had to get re-jailed and this time talk to him.

Initially the bakbattahl guards would attack me if I was running around in the prison, but eventually they chilled out. after that, the vernworth prison guards switched to attacking me on sight. I could be talking to someone in prison and a couple of them would come up and start swinging at me repeatedly, but you’re invincible in dialogue so I would just time the dialogue to end between their swings and then walk out

I ended up loading an inn save, which kinda blew cause it was right before I left to do the mine quest and guards started wailing on me as soon as I got from finishing so I had to redo it. But no one is mad at me anymore at least!

Son of Thunderbeast

I forget, is that mine mission one of the ones where you have to rescue some guards? It's possible, even likely, that you accidentally hit and killed a guard the first time around. Only way to de-aggro when that happens is to rush to the city crypt and resurrect anyone you killed with a wakestone

This happened to me in Bakbattahl when i killed the guards that attacked me at the end of the phantom oxcart quest. I had to go find and resurrect them before i could use the city normally again

There are guards in that mine, up near the top of the cave. Depending on how you go about clearing the place it's definitely possible to take a shot at them before you notice they aren't orcs.

It was, but I had a different weird thing happen with them. They started their “help we’re under attack” script but there…were no enemies? Then I abruptly took almost my entire health bar in damage and they started reciting both their combat calls and combat over scripts at the same time before sending me on my way.

Yeah, sounds like something bugged out real bad in that case. Usually shouldn't result in the guards attacking you but if you find yourself in that situation check the crypt before reverting to an inn save.
